He is a senior in HS and is going to OSU in a fab 5 sort of recruiting class. He doing his one year and then off to the NBA.

He said on Sportscenter that he'd THINK about staying multiple years, and that was considered a shock.

Oden = 1 and done #1 overall, end of story.

I lived in the Indianapolis area for about 4 years (just moved out of there), so I've followed Oden pretty closely over his career. I believe that if he had the choice, he would apply for the NBA draft out of high school.

However, he doesn't have that choice. And every comment he's made has indicated that he wants to go to college, and didn't want to go straight to the NBA, and this was before the NBA made that decision for him. If I'm Ohio State, I try to put him on a 3 year fast track degree that UConn did for Okafor and Duke did for Williams and Boozer. I really believe that Oden will not be a one and done player. If Ohio State offered Oden that option, I think he'd probably stay three years.

As for his ability, he could start for about 10 NBA teams right now. He should probably be first team preseason all-american, and the preseason Big Ten player of the year. He will have more of an impact defensively in college than Ben Wallace does in the NBA. And his offense has really improved.

And thus the overhype has begun.

Staying in college for more than one season can ONLY damage his stock. If you're not helping it, you're hurting it.

This dude is flat out SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only player I've seen in high school that compares physically to Oden was Lebron. What does that tell you? Oden will be the #1 pick for sure after one year. One NBA analyst said he would have been the #1 pick when he was 16 years old!

He will avg. 22, 10, and 3 blks next year. Guaranteed. The entire BT is in for a world of hurt.
