I'm not hearing his name in any coach of the year talks. I'm surprised since we are on pace to win 70 games which is extraordinary.

View Full Version : Will Flip be coach of the year? UncleCliffy 01-21-2006, 02:00 PM I'm not hearing his name in any coach of the year talks. I'm surprised since we are on pace to win 70 games which is extraordinary. JS 01-21-2006, 02:21 PM When does the voting end? I mean if it's like the Heisman and the voters can mail it in a month early who knows. If they wait and vote 68-70 wins could make it happen for Flip. However I think there is a good chance they will look to rookie HC or Fratello in Memphis. The leaders are Dunleavy, and Montgomery if there teams finish well. Flip will have the fact that the team was in the finals 2 straight years working against him. However a 10 -14 game improvement in any record IMO should garner a lot of votes. FP22 01-21-2006, 02:44 PM I think he'll win it. D'antoni is the only other realistic option, IMO. Kilo 01-21-2006, 03:16 PM I don't think he has a real shot - he was taking over a good team to begin with. I'm betting the Dallas coach will get the love. Moodini31 01-21-2006, 03:21 PM Well, he's the coach of the Eastern Conference in the All-Star Game, so he's in the top 2. Black Dynamite 01-21-2006, 03:43 PM no. doesnt deserve it either. not because he hasnt coached better than anyone. but because he's had to work with a team thats been getting consistently better under two coaches already. he may the "i didnt drop the ball" award though. robcat911 01-21-2006, 05:16 PM no he wont get it.....when he took over this team he knew that if he fucked it up then it would be all on him, and if they did well he would have just added a little somethin Unibomber 01-21-2006, 05:43 PM I'd say Dunleavy and Flip should be frontrunners, and Flip stands a good chance to win it. He, unlike Dunleavy, has a team with staying power. b-diddy 01-21-2006, 10:45 PM wow, i think flip has it on lockdown right now. my darkhorse is byron scott, but right now its easily flip. GotCrotty? 01-22-2006, 12:41 AM Avery Johnson, possible Poppovich if they win a lot without Manu. H1Man 01-22-2006, 05:12 AM The fact that we are coming off two straight Finals appreances is going to work against Flip. He should still get a lot of votes though. But I would say Avery Johnson and Mike Fratello are the front runners right now. Terry Stotts, Phil Jackson, Byron Scott, Larry Brown and Mike Dunleavy will also get a lot of votes if their teams finish well and make the playoffs. |
