His 28/12 days are long gone. He can't move as well as he used too and for some odd reason the refs are actually calling fouls on him. Unfortunately for the Heat, he's signed for 4 more years @ $20 mil.

@20 mil per....yeah.

I agree with 28/12 comment, I don't think he can do that all the time anymore, but don't sleep on him just yet, they say that ankle isn't completely healed.

LOL, 20 million a year for the next 4 years after this one.

Waiting for Heat fans to come and explain to us how he took a pay cut to stay in Miami.

I think this will be Shaq's last really effective year. I wouldn't count him out this year though - not by a long shot or until Miami is eliminated form the play-offs.

Not at all. I will never take him lightly because he has a habit of tearing us apart for 3 quarters.

2 1/2. However he'll need to do it for 4 against this team.

This is the last year he will be a threat, IMO.

Last year was their best shot at the title. They would have had a pretty good shot this year too if they had kept the same team from last year with minor upgrades. Instead they overhaul their entire roster with players that don't fit together.

They are going to regret not just Shaq's extension but also the other players they obtained (Walker, JWill, Posey).

He sprained that ankle almost 3 months ago. Is it ever going to heal? Seriously. When he sprained that ankle people said he'd be gone a week or two. He was out a month and it's still bothering him. His legs are giving out on him. Pushing all the weight around for all these years is catching up on him. When these superstar bigmen fall they fall fast. Hakeem went from MVP canidate to back-up on a lotto team within two years. Ditto for Ewing. Luckily for David Robinson he had Tim Duncan next to him or he would've wound up in the same boat. Like I said in another thread he's posting career lows (or very close to) in rpg, ppg, FG and FT attempts while posting career highs in fouls. He can't dominate games anymore. He's been marginalized.

for the record i think its more about riley not getting him the ball the way SVG did. in fact i wonder if Riley believes in the force feed mentality that phil jackson used for shaq. either way i do think shaq is aging and riley is coaching a perimeter style that doesn't fit him. if Riley doesnt adjust I dont see them getting out the first round depending on who they play IMO.

Uhh you must not remember the ECF. One of the big criticism of SVG's coaching was that he wasn't getting Snaq the ball enough. People thought Riley would force feed Shreq more. Why isn't it happening? I think Riley wants to dump the ball into Shaq more he just can't. The new D rules (which Riley has been a harsh critic of) combine with Shaqueer's body breaking down prevents it from happening.

i remember it just fine and he got it to him more than Riley. thus riley is two steps behind what phil was doing.

It's a push right now. SVG couldn't get fatass the ball and neither can Riley. And it's not for lack of trying.

I think Riley realizes that Shaq isn't what he used to be and is trying to get others established in the offense and use Shaq as a decoy of sorts. Shaq can still get his, but Miami needs to be more than a two man team.

Riley recently commented that Shaq has shoulder and neck arthritis - which was never made public before. I don't know if he was just making excuses, because he also mentioned his ankle and that his thigh is still an issue all the way from last season for crying out loud.

like fuck it isnt. they are spending too much time ruinnnig screens for wade who has trouble with double teams i guess. phil woulda ran the offense through shaq and got the wade the ball after that to get him and everyone else opened up. right now they are predictable as can be running the offense through wade. shaq declining? all he has to do is push people and dunk. he isnt too old for that. you guys act like he had amazing moves in the post [smilie=arnold.gif]

they dont run the offense through shaq and because of that people arent open. they did for most of last year until the playoffs came up and eddie jones was so wide open he refound his 3 point shot.

You need to watch video of a younger Shaq. He was far more mobile than he is now. Once he gets the ball most of his move are power but he needs to be able to move aroudn to actually get the ball. He can't. He's fat, slow and banged up. You combine that with the new rules allowing zone D and it makes it much tougher to get him the ball. Riley is no dumbass. The reason he is running more perimeter plays is because he knows because of the things I've mentioned he can't just dump the ball in to fatass. Riley has been whining abou the new rules almost all year.

The thing about Shaq was the he had great feet and was quick for a big man which he combined with his power to make him a force. Now he's lost his speed and when he just uses power, he gets called for the offensive foul and he's resorted to a lot of bank shots lately.

It's about freaking time. He's been ruining the game for the last 15 years with his backdowns, offensive fouls (that aren't called) and his teams' stagnant offense where they all just watch him backdown and try to spot up for a 3. I can't wait till we see him in the playoffs and end his season for the 3rd year in a row. [smilie=rip.gif]
