May's rookie season likely over after surgery

Charlotte Bobcats forward Sean May had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Thursday, likely bringing his rookie season to an end.

May, the 13th overall pick in the NBA draft, had missed the past 13 games because of soreness in his knee. He had surgery on the knee on Sept. 13 in California, then Charlotte officials scheduled Thursday's procedure to explore why it was still bothering him.

Bobcats physician Dr. Glenn Perry trimmed torn cartilage during the procedure.

There was no timetable for May's return, but he's expected to need at least eight weeks to recover - and probably won't be pushed to return to the court.

"We want Sean to get healthy and get everything taken care of," Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. "We want him to take his time. There will be no rush for him to come back - he is too important to our franchise."

May, who led North Carolina to the national championship last season, played in 23 games and averaged 8.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 17.3 minutes. He scored in double figures 10 times and had a double-double with 15 points and a season-best 10 rebounds at Orlando on November 15.

Don't get me wrong May will be a solid player but this why you don't draft a PR promotion with the 13th pick.

I know the 13th pick has nothing to do with his injury but his weight does, and all he did by geting drafted that high is get fatter. He didn't have to leave NC, he didn't have to work to to prove 25 teams wrong like he should have if he were drafted at 26 like projected before the final 4. Sean May was out of shape so it is no surprise he got hurt and couldn't recover.

Pity he's injured but could this open up a potential trade?

Darko to Charlotte for their unprotected 2006 pick?

Anyone we'd want off their roster (other than Okafor and Gerald Wallace)?

Felton is a young pg but then we have Arroyo. Maybe Kareem Rush? A good shooter but injured. That would mean we would have to get rid of either Evans or Delfino

I'd rather just get their unprotected pick if we're looking at guys like Rush.

Brevin Knight for Arroyo would be nice but I'm not willing to part with both Darko and Arroyo for Knight and their first.

They'd have to include something else, but their roster is so bad we don't have much to choose from.

Maybe the Bobcats will trade for the real Corliss now that their imitation one is injured.

It would've been cool if you tried to title this thread in a slang manner:

"Sean May be done for the season"

I'd trade Arroyo and Darko for Knight and a pick that could net you Rudy Gay or at worst JJ Reddick.

I found a 4-way trade that might look a little shitty but I'll post it anyway:

Atlanta trades Tony Delk and Josh Childress

Atlanta gets Carlos Arroyo and Jake Voskuhl

Why for the Hawks:

They get a decent PG that could start for them and push the pace. Voskuhl is an expiring contract so he's no problem for them. While they lose Childress they have enough swingmen to cover for it.

Charlotte trades Brevin Knight, Jake Voskuhl

Charlotte gets Josh Childress and Brian Skinner

Losing Knight hurts but they have Felton already on the team and he's their future. Bernie Bickerstaff was high on Childress back when JC was drafted so maybe he's still interested?

Skinner brings some needed size and is more serviceable than little Jake.

Detroit trades Carlos Arroyo and Darko Milicic

Detroit gets Tony Delk, Brevin Knight and a top 7 protected pick from Sacramento

Serious upgrade at PG with Knight on the team. Delk has an expiring contract so we save some cash moving forward and the pick could net us another young big to develop down the road (I hope we do better the second time around)

Sacramento trades Brian Skinner and a top 7 protected pick

Sacramento gets Darko Milicic

They aren't going to win the big one and take the chance that Darko can develop into more than a bum.

Thoughts?

(hi-jacking the May thread for more Darko shit)
