I've been trying to figure this out for a few weeks now, and I'm at a loss. I suck at this tech shit.

I got the Siemens SX66 Pocket PC Phone, and I've been trying to figure out a way to play MPEG-4's on it. None of the players I've found on-line that say they play MP4's have actually worked for me. Which makes me think I have to find a player, download it, and then insert/download the codecs?

Problem is, what the fuck is a codec? Lol. And how to I install one into my phone and video player?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Yeah, that player is buggy as all hell. On the rare occassion I could get it to run, it wouldn't play MPEG-4's. :x

I'm at a loss at this point. I just don't get codecs and how to update my video player to utilize them.

I hate technology.

it should happen as soon as you load them in your pc or device.

did you google your specific device and the codec required at the same time?

Alright, I have everything figured out and working. The only question I have left is:

Does anyone know what's the optimal setting

"XviD MPEG-4" compared to "Microsoft MPEG-4 video codec V3"

Which one one is higher quality and which one compresses better?

I have to choose between one of these two codecs/formats to use for encoding my movies for playback on my Pocket PC.

I doubt any of you will know this kind of shit, butI figured it's worth a shot.

dont know much about v3, but xvid is pretty solid quality.

I'll give that one a shot then. I'll probably just end up trying both and comparing them side by side (which means I will gain nothing whatsoever from that evaluation). I'm trying to figure out if I can cheat the movie files down from 24fps to 20fps without losing any noticable quality.

Without going into details, Xvid (and DivX) are just hacked versions of the Microsoft's version of MPEG-4.
