View Full Version : THE GUARANTEE

Let the hype begin! A few times a year all of the Spartans and Wolverines get to sweat it out in anticipation of a head to head meeting. This Wednesday should be better than ever on the hardwood. This is the best Michigan team they've had in years, the game is at Crystler, and a win for Michigan would be huge for them for so many reasons. Those things should help Michigan pull off a possible upset.

But, I'd like to make this game even bigger here on WTF. I think the legendary Michigan fan Moodini did his part in making it bigger with his guarantee. I'm going to open up this forum for trash talk. And it will be an opportunity for Moodini and his maize followers to gloat like never before. Or an opportunity for the Spartan Faithful to rub 13-1 in the faces of their rivals. If you are not familiar with the guarantee, let me get you up to date.

Moodini and DrTre have battled it out for years. After last season's lopsided affair in Ann Arbor and East Lansing, DrTre began running his mouth. Moodini made a statement. A very bold one. Moodini guaranteed a Wolverine victory the next time the Spartans and Wolverines faced one another in Ann Arbor. When DrTre confronted him, Moodini stuck to it here on WTF. It went something like this, "I guarantee Michigan will beat Michigan State. You can do whatever you want, mark it down, put it in stone. I stand by it! I guarantee Michigan will beat Michigan State!"

Whoa! Even DrTre doesn't have the balls to make a guarantee like that (yes, Stacey Patten is referring to himself in 3rd person  ). What a bold prediction! So will Moodini go down in WTF history like Joe in the NFL or Sheed in the NBA? Or will the guarantee go up in flames leaving the Spartans with a lifetime bragging rights story?

However it turns out, this Moodini guarantee adds barrells of fuel to the fire. Stay tuned to see how it turns out. 8)

Win or lose...Michigan is always the winner no matter what, because an education at Michigan is worth a lot more than an education at MSU.

So win or lose, Michigan is the clear winner in life.

The real winners are the people helped by U of M grads and students. If you've seen the commercial, you know what I'm talking about. It's my wife's favorite commercial because it puts aside all the sports stuff and talks about what really matters.

U-M Health System
Ad campaign hails real-life heroes
By Kevin Brown

Matthew Jackson, 4, is standing in a bathtub wearing green goggles, his hair in a soapy spike, and a vertical heart surgery scar on his chest.

The smiling pre-schooler is among several U-M Health System (UMHS) patients featured in a new TV advertisement promoting UMHS and supporting the University-wide $2.5-billion The Michigan Difference campaign.

More than 300 University and UMHS staff got a first look Aug. 29 at Matthew and the moving 60-second TV commercial, which kicks off a three-year marketing campaign. Print, radio and television ads will seek to raise awareness of the high level of research, patient care and education that occur throughout the Health System.

UMHS has set a goal to raise $550 million through its philanthropic efforts to fund new facilities, research, scholarships and more. The rollout of the campaign will begin in southeastern Michigan, followed by western Michigan.

The commercial was scheduled to debut Sept. 3 on WXYZ-TV Channel 7 during the U-M-Northern Illinois football game. It also is scheduled to air on Sunday morning news shows, the "Desperate Housewives" season premiere Sept. 25, and on several other network programs.

During the commercial, lines from the Michigan fight song, "The Victors," including the signature "Hail to the victors," and "Hail to the conquering heroes," are superimposed in white lettering over footage of Matthew and other survivors.

"What is so unique and wonderful about The Michigan Difference campaign is that it tells the real stories of patients and families and faculty and staff," Dr. Robert Kelch, executive vice president for medical affairs and CEO of UMHS, said during the campaign kickoff. "Stories of courage and dedication; of will and spirit; of realities and miracles. Everything that victors—that real, everyday heroes—are made of."

BTW, MSU does a lot of great stuff too, so don't think I'm discounting their accomplishments in the classroom either.

oh blah blah blah.

The shit the U of M is more visable to the entire would because its business/health industry related.

MSU does more for agricultural, animal medicine, and international studies than U of M but we don'tgo taking out commericals to puff our chests out. fucking weasels.

you must have missed my last sentance. I'd like to see MSU do the same thing (the marketing). I've heard a lot of amazing stories of things they've done. why not tell the world? instead of the same carbon copy commercials every big ten school runs during football, U of M just got a little creative with it. MSU has the accomplishments too, and they should market them. Talk about the advances in agriculter. Talk about the field turf that many sports teams are using. As I said, my post was no knock on MSU. I was just impressed by the commercial. I think it hits home to people that don't know what the university actually does.

What in the flying fuck is going on here?! Okay, helping people...that's great. But, this is a sports website and an NCAA sports forum and a sports thread.

Who the hell let these clowns in? Can we send that crap to the bleachers or what Jethro?

I post hyping the MSU-UM basketball game and some wolverines start talking health care? :violent1:

Can somebody, anybody please get us back on track!?

One Wolverine brought up healthcare, not WolverineS.

My thing is why do we need another thread to talk shit about UM vs MSU, if we are why cant we not talk about sports, since every thread that gets started is about sports and no matter what it is about it comes back to MSU B-Ball and UM football.

I agree. I'm a little burnt out with this crap.

Two predictions, Michigan gets blown out by Illinois today and beats MSU in AA. (I stand by my bold prediction from last year).

That's about all I got left in the tank fellas.

Tre, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Michigan plays Northwestern on Wednesday and we don't play you guys until next week on Jan. 25.

Yeah, somebody here said it was Wed. I got hype and posted this not realizing it's in two weds.

I didn't envision this as another war room. I thought it would be a place where we could analyze the game, the matchups, and what a win would mean for each team. We're getting too crazy with this terrordome stuff. We should be able to have a game thread and have decent discussion.

I also wanted to get Moodini's prediction out there. I thought it was a bold one and worth praise (just for having the balls to make it).

Thanks for the dap playa. :D I do stand by my prediction too. I'll analyze later.

Ok cool, I can be down with a place with no flaming. Just good basketball talk.

I think if Sims has any success down low against Davis, UM has a great chance.
