There are two Pistons' names that come up most frequently in Internet trade rumors -- Darko Milicic and Carlos Arroyo . The Pistons have gotten calls on the former, none on the latter, and plan on moving neither.

"We're getting calls, but not on any particular player," said John Hammond , Pistons vice president of basketball. "The player we get the most calls on is Darko. But we are in a position where, I wouldn't say we were hesitant to make any deals, but we have a pretty good thing going on. To pull the trigger on a trade right now would be tough to do."

Especially since, Hammond said, the Pistons have made it clear they weren't moving any of their core players.

Arroyo, for his part, isn't overly thrilled with his role, but doesn't want to be traded, either.

"Winning championships is the No. 1 priority for everyone," he said, when asked if he preferred playing a limited role for the Pistons over a larger role on a non-contender. "For me to be on a great team that has a chance to go to the Finals, it's a blessing."

Saunders indicated before the game that he may be altering Arroyo's role, bringing him in earlier in the game to play alongside starters Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince .

"I know I am better and I know I can do a lot more," Arroyo said. "But I am playing with great players, backing up a great point guard in Chauncey (Billups ) and that's the fun side of it."

This douche bag can't stand that National writers and Internets posters have more knowledge of the NBA than he does. I really wish people would pressure WDFN to let McCosky go he is useless . I don't think it's by accident that Sean doesn't use him for his show.

I am sorry for this topic but I am so sick of McCosky. All the other writers are talking about Joe having an open mind about trades. In that SI/Yahoo article Joe alluded to that fact, however since McDoucheBag doesn't believe it it must not be true. This guy has an agenda and is worthless as a writer, he should be fired. I think him and Dery love each other because they always defend the others opinion, so I doubt DFn will can him as the insider but they should. He is a waste of space there are better writers or inisders who woud tack more pride in covering this team.

I mean how can a guy who is so out of it keep his job? Everytime he
gets scooped like last week when ASB wrote about Darko maybe being moved he bashes the writer. Everytime a caller asks a question he gets in thir face and acts like a diva who shouldn't be subjected to the common man.

Look at this article he says firmly Arroyo and Darko aren't being traded yet reading JH quotes he says nothing firm like McCosky states. He says only that they would be hesitant given how well things are going.

Last year and the year before McCosky went on the radio and said Joe will not be trading for Arroyo last year or Sheed the year before. He went diva on callers and other writers for suggesting or believing either deal was going to happen. Then after they did happen he acted like a bitch for being scooped. I remember somebody suggested that they would try to go after Soup after Utah waived him, and once again the Diva screamed that Utah wasn't going to waive him.

I think it is time the fans of Detroit Basketball write an email to WDFN's PD asking for McCosky to lose his gig after this season if not sooner.

Amen to that, brotha.

I suggest you just send that post in as a letter. That will probably do the trick in getting him fired.

I agree the article is shit

Hammond states:

"We're getting calls, but not on any particular player."

Standard response IMO. Obviously they get calls about a variety of guys (Maxwell, Davis, Arroyo, Darko to name 4) but he's not gonna get into specifics with some reporter.

"The player we get the most calls on is Darko. But we are in a position where, I wouldn't say we were hesitant to make any deals, but we have a pretty good thing going on. To pull the trigger on a trade right now would be tough to do."

The whole quote is the standard response where Hammond basically gives him the "it would take a really good deal for us to move anyone" company line.

The part I bolded is Hammond's way of putting "out there" that Darko could be had, if the offer is right IMO, which I believe Joe alluded to in another article (mentioned in the Darko trade thread)

The article then states that Joe and John and not gonna move part of the core, which we all know is the company line anyway.

Beat the deadline crap as usual

I don't think anyone will argue against McCosky being WAY behind the curve.

This is the guy who went on the radio and said that Rasheed would never be in Detroit and 5 hours latter sat outside of Joe's office while they closed the deal. The guy is a complete tool.

It is funny to listen to him scoff at questions so arrogantly as though the time keeper doesn't have to turn McCosky's chair in press row around to face the court so he doesn't miss the game.

rofl Same here. I was thinking McDyess was demanding a trade or something before clicking on the thread, but instead it's about some dumb insider.

I get the feeling that McCoskey is on the Pistons payroll or in the very least he is too close to the team and is no longer able to do his proper job. He's more like a spokesman/publicist for the Pistons than a beat reporter working for the newspaper as he is always preaching the company line.

I know for a fact that they are all full of shit. My dads season tickets are in section 110. (the players famlly section) Darko's seats are right in front of where we sit when I go to the games with him. I was talking to Darko's uncle at the start of the season and he was tellin me that Delfino demanded a trade or more playing time before all the rumors came out. The writers know that if they write something that is not favorable they will lose their job that is why they continue to kiss ass along with DFN. DFN cannot lose the Pistons or I think it may really hurt their market share. Therefore they will kiss ass
