If anyone gets a chance, I would highly suggest watching the latest episode of Real Sports on HBO. I know, I know....Bryant Gumble is hard for me to watch too....but this episode was probably one of the most enlightening things I have ever seen on television.
So the main story was all about racism in the UEFA which is the European Football League. This segment literally BLEW ME AWAY. I had no ieda how bad it was. You know, everyone is always saying how bad the race problems are in this country....well....this will seriously open your eyes to how bad it actually is in the rest of the world.
The piece included stories of spitting on minority players while they are going for corner kicks, throwing bananas as minority players and actually starting ape chants every time a minority player touches the ball. Un-fucking beleivable. The worst part is that it's not just a few fans, but in places like Spain and Italy it's literally half to three quarters of the fans. In some stadiums they even have fans waiving the old nazi flags complete with swaztika. Seriously.....
You know, I'm really not even doing this story justice. Just try and check out the episode if you can. It was first aired on Dec 27th and I'm sure they'll be re-paling it all week.
