Anyone watch these shows? I personally think that 24 is some of the best TV I have ever watched. It's not a show you want to relax and watch, I seem to sweat just watching it. If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend you get the first season on DVD and watch it, guaranteed addiction.

I really never got into Alias so I can't comment but it's a similar theme to the others as far as show style.

My wife bought us the first season of Lost a few weeks back, we have heard so many good things about the show. We are just about through with the first season and have some thoughts. Overall a very good show with some holes.

The show's premise of strangers being stranded on a island and all of their lives somehow being inner-mixed is great. I think the characters are all appealing and for the most part act their parts well. There are times however the show seems to careen off course and get a little cheesy. Somehow though they are able to get back on track after veering off course.

Case in point - I thought the flashbacks of Hurley winning the lottery and then all the bad luck following him around was just plain silly and overboard. The point could of been eluded too but not overdone. There was no need to take a serious show and let it dive into this supernatural spirit realm. In fact I could do without a lot of the supernatural stuff and the hint of space alien crap.

I also could do without the little silent love affair between Jack and Kate. They weren't stranded but a day and somehow they have a love thing happening.

The best character thus far = Sawyer. I love the condescending attitude though the one liners do go overboard at times as well.

Overall I rate the show a 7-8 on a scale of 1-10. Entertaining, thought provoking, makes you want to keep watching. The writing could be better.

Anyone else.....

Lost and 24 are the only two shows that I watch on TV. I got addicted to Lost this season, and got the first season on DVD. It's a great show, but they need to start explaining more soon, or I fear that they will lose some of their viewers. It gets frustrating at times.

24 is a great show, which gets a little silly at times. I didn't get into it very much last year, but it's still one of the best shows on television.

The only other thing I watch are games, mostly Pistons.

my Dad is a 24 freak. I never saw it (I hate to jump into the middle of shows that are a series like that), but probably will start this year.

I generally don't like any series shows like that. I stick to Law and Order or CSI. each show isn't connected so you don't feel like you have to be home for "your show" or anything.

Good call. I also watch Law and Order (but only SVU) and CSI. I can't handle the Criminal Intent show with that Vincent D'Onofrio and his weird mannerisms. I can just picture him twisting his neck bending down and telling some 'perp', "Come on just come clean, we both know you did it" "In fact I knew you were going to do it before you did it".

Oh I also watch CNBC and Nox Fews as well.

Go watch 24 - you'll love it.

I'll probably have to watch the old ones on dvd first. If anyone has them that I can watch on my PC that would be stellar. Otherwise I'll have to rent it I guess. It would take a long time to catch up though.

Try Netflix out, 2 weeks free. Movies get to your house next day and you just mail them back. If your gonna watch something like 24 it would be worth it to sign up for a month and then cancel when done.

sweet idea. We got a month of that free as a christmas gift from my wife's cousin. I'll have to use it for that (amongst other movies).

I see a lot of people complaining that Lost hasn't explained a lot of shit and I have to wonder:

Did all these complainers watch the first season 1 week at a time, or did they get the boxset and watch it all at once?

Every single person I know that watched the boxset thinks the second season is so fucking slow.

But there are plenty of people who think season 2 is going too fast.

I guess it depends on what you're into.

As for space alien shit: What show are you watching?

There is no alien shit on Lost IMO.

I love Alias. I started watching last season and Im hooked. Not into 24 or Lost. Any show that is hyped up that much always seems to disapoint me.

I also watch CSI, the Office, and Las Vegas

Ummm, there's this hatch and freaky lights turn on in it. It's made out of some type of un-breakable material, oh and weird people are on the island that look human but with super-human strength and shit.

Listen, I am not even through the first season yet, I haven't a fricking clue to what lies ahead. Right now I am thinking...Aliens yeah that's possible. Give a guy a break and let me conjure up anything I want.

I was the same way about Alias vs 24. I was on the 24 bandwagon from episode one, season one. Never, ever got into Alias.

Then, a couple months ago when they started showing Alias from the beginning on TNT I started watching it and got into it. Now I'm hooked. Much like 24, you'll get more out of it if you catch it from the start than if you pick it up in the middle.

I watched Lost season 1& 2 on regular TV and I am getting sick of the show. They spend half the show rehashing last weeks episode.

I used to love CSI, but there are 3 now and the writing for the Las Vegas one has gone downhill so much. I hate David on Miami, but Callie is a hottie so I watch it in spite of him. The NY one is great, because once they got rid of the ugly NY bitch, the show is fantastic and they got some good looking woman there.

I love Deadwood on HBO. I liked Carnivale a lot, but that just got canceled.

The best shows on TV are on Showtime and HBO. When you are not prohibited from saying and doing most anything you want, it makes TV much more real and enjoyable.

Sorry Gecko - didn't realise you haven't finished season 1 of Lost yet.

I've seen up to episode 9 of Season 2 but due to some bullshit break in the schedule I've had to wait for a month to get #10.

I think it airs in the US on January 11th, so I'll have it soon enough.

Questions: How is it that you're not up to date with the show? What country do you live in?

I know it's not one of the choices, but The Soprano's on HBO is the best series out there when running. I like gangster shows though, and being set in the present day gives it a real feeling to it.

I'd have to agree that The Sopranos is probably one of the best series out there. There are a good number of enjoyable characters that have come and gone in that show. When the hell will season 6 start?

Another show I really enjoy is Rescue Me. FX has really been churning out some decent series in the past few years.

I'd have to go with LOST. I was a LOST hater and did not watch 1 single episode when it was on TV. Wizzle made me watch his Season 1 box set and I was hooked after 2 episodes. Season 2 has been kind of a bust due to not too much happening so far, and reruns, but it is supposed to be all new on Wednesday. I've never seen an episode of 24, but from what I'm hearing, I may have to check it out.

I've gotta agree with Polish too. I don't have HBO, but I just bought season 1 of The Sopranos on DVD and it's unbelievable. I'm a huge fan of gangster stuff. Sopranos, The Godfather, Scarface, Goodfellas, Casino, Carlito's Way, etc. That's what I'm talking about. :headbang:

Watching the box set. I never watch these types of shows when they are airing on tv. Even though I have DVR I would end up missing a show here and there. I'll buy the box sets and crank out a season in about 2 weeks.

Speaking of OZ and Lost...The character Micael on Lost, what was his name in OZ. I always found it amazing how many of those characters found their way into Law and Order episodes. Any idea what the connection is?

While I think it is vastly overrated by it's rabid fans, I am a Lost fan. I'm also getting seriously pissed off with the damn schedule of the show. I think they are jerking around the schedule to boost Season 2 DVD sales. I think the show loses something when you have to wait four weeks inbeteen episodes for no other reason than to position it optimally for the sweeps weeks.

Couldn't agree more on all counts.

The best thing about the schedule for those of us in Australia is that we can download every episode so far and watch them one after the other.

By the time the second season starts here I would have seen at least 13 episodes. Fucking shitty Oz TV networks.

You guys could have taped the episodes though and watched them again during the break.
