View Full Version : Respect for the Pacers

As much crap as we give the Pacers, and as much as we tend to call their organization "second-tier," I have gained a lot of respect for them in the last year, and even more in the last couple of weeks.

With the brawl last year, they could have bitched the whole way through, saying that their season was taken from them. They sucked it up and played hard enough to make the playoffs. Now obviously, they also said that they got through a lot of diversity, and failed to mention it was their own idiots that caused that diversity.

This year, as soon as Artest asked for a trade, they could have kept playing him to keep their record as high as possible. Instead, they grow some balls and say "If you don't want to play here, you're not playing anywhere until we let you." Walsh and Bird end up being men and completely cut ties with him.

On top of all of this, they don't trade him right away. They play it smart, and don't take the first offer they get. Instead, they wait until other teams start sweating, as the deadline creeps closer by the day. For this, I give them their props.

(I still think their fans are the biggest bunch of red-necks ever)

(And S Jax is a complete tool)

Personally, I'll give them respect when they finally nut up and fire Prick like you know that they want to, but are afraid to.

I don't see why they would want to. He may be a prick, but he has had that team over-acheive two years in a row.

Questions about leadership and effort always go back to the HC.

Add in some really bad losses, poor playoff performances and personality conflicts with his star players and I'll be shocked if he's their coach more than another year or two.

while I give them props for benching Artest, they did make excuses last year. They did say their season was stolen by us/the NBA for suspending Artest. They complained like crazy about the suspensions. I think this year they let that go though and are only concerend about winning. I give guys like JO credit for not forgiving Artest, though some did (Jackson).

JO basically just said that he cannot play with Artest anymore. He still says that he cares about the guy and really would like him to succeed and get his life straight

I felt last year it was more the media that was trying to get them to say that. They obviously did, and said some of it, but I still think they worked hard and didn't give up on a broken season.

Obviously when Jackson says that the NBA ruined their season, it's humorous. I never heard Miller say it though. Nor did Bird. It was pretty much just Jackson and the Media.

Props to you MoTown for going all Curtis Martin and at least trying to find positive things to say about the Pacers.

But I can't be bothered with this nonsense. lol

Unless you're referring to the wicked-sweet AMC car, I can not subscribe to this notion.

No love?

I can't hate a team that's not a threat to us. That's like bombing Trinidad.

Plus after all of this hate for the Pacers, I think if they do something smart for once, it shouldn't go unnoticed.

Hating on other teams is very gay.

I'm shocked there aren't any anti-Spurs threads running around since most Piston fans enjoy being bitter.

I knew the Pacers weren't going to do shit this year. Losing Reggie is a lot bigger than people think.
