Tough loss for the Wolverines tonight. They consistently turned it over all night long, ending up with 22 turnovers for the game. Believe it or not, they really had a chance to win the game. IU was up 9 late in the second half, but U-M was able to tie the game at 55 with about 4 minutes to go. But it was the same old story, more turnovers and big shots from the Hoosiers and they went on to win 70-63.

I really want to see what this team can do with all of their players on the court and healthy. Michigan was without Lester Abram and his 12 points per game. This was totally unexpected, apparently he is suffering from the mysterious "turf toe". True freshman Jevohn Shepherd played in place of Abram and struggled, going 1-7 from the floor scoring 3 points. Brent Petway was not yet cleared as of noon today, and the team was already in Bloomington. His paperwork was cleared soon after that and hopped a plane and was in the lineup. He was clearly rusty, playing 8 minutes, scoring 2 points and had 3 fouls. It was frustrating to watch, I was really looking forward to the complete team playing in some Big Ten action, but it didn't happen. This team just can't seem to get healthy.

On the bright side, Graham Brown grabbed 21 rebounds. The first 20+ rebound game for a Wolverine since Juwan Howard. Horton was solid with 20 pts and 5 assts, but had 6 of the 22 TOs. Harris played well, nailing 3 threes and finished with 19 points. Overall, if Abram can get healthy, and when Petway shakes off the rust, Michigan should be a middle of the pack Big Ten team, with a shot to be in the top 3 or 4, and should be on the bubble for an NCAA tourney berth.

I cant stand Sims. He is such a waste. Such talent around the basket, but once he gets it and you double him, it is an easy TO.

Horton played huge.

Why dont we double down low like they do to us? They didnt have any problem getting back to defend the 3, why would we.

I think this is a 7-9 in the Big Ten NIT team.

Turning point of the game IMO courtesy of Jevohn Shepherd.

Michigan was down by 4 with the ball trying to make it a one possession game, Shep takes and misses a horribly ill-advised three and moments later fouls an Indiana player on the other end giving them a three point play.

Should've been a two point deficit and in turn it was seven...ballgame.

I was surprised that the Wolverines hung around. I thought it would be a 10-12 point win, but it was pretty close down to the wire. Impressive seeing that it was at Indiana.

Like Moodini said though, it's just the same thing year after year with Michigan. Ill-advised shots, turnovers, etc. etc. They've got decent talent, they just don't get better.

I think with a full roster this year, they should knock off a few teams though and they have a chance at the tournament courtesy of the non-conference schedule.

I hope they knock off somebody and help the Spartans.

Aight...I didnt get to see any of the F'n game because I had to be out working the Pistons/Magic game but I want to know what the hell was up with Lester! After the game on Saturday he said everything was fine when asked by the media about how he felt. Now he cannot play? Now to come down with a bullshit injury like a toe?

I will have to say that I am shocked that they stuck around without abram. He means a ton to that team as far as leadership and what he brings on the defensive end. Personally I think this can be taken as a plus...

Pretty funny, I have UM guys at 1270 now screaming there is no way for a tourney bid from this team after last nights game. Same ole soft UM that finds ways to lose games. Point taken...however!!!!! they are 10-2 and lost to #15 Indiana AT ASSEMBLY HALL WITHOUT LESTER ABRAM!! Now...if they stay healthy they are in the tourney but if this shit like, toe injuries flurry out of the blue then they are toast!

Muhme, Killingsworth was in foul trouble for much of the first half, and the IU student section was on vacation.... It was quiter than the Big House in there. Don't get to far ahaead of yourself. The spread was 8, UofM lost by 7, and they are still 0-1 in Big Ten play.

I heard the place was sold out and Matt Shepard sure made it seem like it was crazy in there...I guess that does make sense if they were gone and Killingsworth was in foul trouble.

FYI, I honestly do not think that anything could be quieter than the Big House....even on OSU weekend.

I got UM at +9 on bodog.com lol...teased them along with FSU and Detroit and made me some money last night

Killingsworth didnt pick up his 2nd found in the 1st half until like 5 minutes left.

He finished with 3 fouls (if he got his 4th, it was real late).

Michigan lost because Sims cannot pass out of a double team. Michigan was shooting under 20% most of the 1st half and that was with some wild open shots. It was like 18 to 7 in shots for Michigan halfway through the 1st half.

Dion saved them in the first half, but they dont feed the hot hand. Too much 1 on 1 especially with Shepherd. Coleman is not much of a player. End of the year, Shepherd will be eating all of his minutes up.

Same old Petway, thinks he has some moves and clanks 15-18 footers.

Michigan should have won last night by 10-15 points. Horton put it together in the 2nd half and him and Dion kept them in the game.

Jerret made a jump shot..:) Still looks slow as fuck.

BTW Mr. Brown is frigging a machine out there. 21 rebounds and he made some nice moves around the basket. I think he could easily be a 10 and 10 guy if they would stop passing to Sims down low.

Also I am tired of Hunter thinking he is a slasher. He travels more with the ball than Jordan, but yet he still thinks he can shake and bake.

I do want to say that Shepherd as a freshman has some good spin moves that in another year will make him big time, but right now, he shouldnt be doing the things he is trying to do. This team is going to be in major trouble next year without Horton.

Ya know what...As I was watching the Chicago State game I was thinking to myself...WHY DOESNT EVERYONE DOUBLE SIMMS! He is HORRIBLE at passing out of a double. He needs to work on DRIBBLING WITH HIS HEAD UP OR KEEPING HIS HEAD UP PERIOD!

I think the reason for the negativity on the radio is because of the way they lost. They turned the ball over so much and at times they weren't even forced turnovers. There is no way they should have that many turnovers when they have plenty of guards on the team.

Okay, let me just say this.....Tommy Amaker is not a good coach. He does not make adjustments, and the offense is pathetic. All it consists of are weak ass screens and watching the guy with the ball until he decides to make his own shot (usually a bad one). And then there's this.....has Tommy made any of these guys better!? I have seen little to no improvement in these players.

That is my problem. HAS ANYONE GOT ANY BETTER UNDER HIS WATCH? No. They have not. Horton has not proven that he is anything more then what he was his freshman year and the same goes for Abram and Harris...

Well said Wizzle...you just need to work on that 1130 logo, lol.

I hate UM, but Horton is a hell of a player.

Amaker is clearly not a great "game" coach and his player development definitely has to be questioned. Many players have plateaued, but look at a guy like Graham Brown, he was a questionable D1 talent at best as a frosh, and now he's pulling down 21 boards at Assembly Hall as senior. That needs to be pointed out as well.

Pros:
Is recruiting way over his head.
Classy (via Coach K)

Cons:
In game adjustments
player development

Overall, I am somewhat satisfied that Amaker has "rebuilt" the program, but clearly has a lot of work to do. They're beating up on the jicksquads, but just can't seem to get that quality win. The players seem a little shell shocked (Sims) and undisciplined (Horton) at times, leading to turnovers and sloppy play. If these things don't change and M doesn't make the tourney this year, a change is necessary.
