nice work Wastern grad.

P.S. Central is better. What is Western known for anyway? What do people go to school there for?

Also, name me one Western Michigan pro that anyone would know (I know Babin was drafted a couple years ago, but did he even pan out?).

Westerns got one of the top aviation colleges in the nation...(at least so iv heard). Im personally going there for a business and engineering degree.

Just like Central our sports teams kinda sucks...but we are consistantly better then Central in most.

But without Central there would be no central/western weekend...and without that the world would be worse off.

I take it you went to Central...Whatd ya go there for?

PS my brother went to Central so i have these debates weekly. lol. Also Chris Kamen is the shit....but i only like him cause hes funny looking

Ben Handlogten played for the jazz last year and went to western...theirs tons of players who went pro from western...they all sucked though :(

least we had tim allen hahahahah......john saunders went here too....but he keeps calling us all punks for some reason

I went there for GIS (geographic information systems). Best program in the state IMO. They are good for teaching and sports medicine too (Wings trainer that left this year John Warton went there).

Yeah, they both suck at sports. WMU is usually better at football though. Central kicked butt for a few years in basketball until Kamen left. When I went there they won the MAC both years (and beat Kyle Korver and Crighton in the NCAA's). Since then they've lost their stars and are rebuilding.

The Aviation program at WMU is one of the best (Top 3) in the nation. It's fucking expensive though, I will vouch for that.

When it comes to sports though, they kind of suck. We had a good basketball team two years ago when we went to the NCAA tourney. But that's just an anamoly, we usually suck.

Jennings and Scheffler this year were kick ass though. If the Lions weren't drafting WRs in the first round for 3 straight years, I would have been rooting for the Lions to draft'em both.

sorry to tell ya Chris, 1 out of every 3 people at Central has an std. This may not be fact, but thats fucking disgusting.

Western has lots of frat parties with plenty of beer and mary jane to offer along with a few more clean women that don't larger beer guts than I do.

Central is better at athletics though, and this being an sports related forum, Chris may be able to trump the good aspects of Western.

you do our university no service by refering to it as "wastern". I hated seeing those fucking stupid t shirts around a couple years ago. I hope they are not around anymore.

You are trying to argue your superiority over Central, yet you refer to our university as a drunken stupid zone filled with baffoons, idiots, and dickheads.

fuck the term "wastern".

Clearly you dont remember what it was like to go to western. Let me remind you. Classes are held but if you are not retarted then you do not need to go more than once a week. It snows at least once a day for 6 months. Drinking takes up a majority of your time.

Wastern shirts are still in full affect...and they actually are sold in the bernard center book store too lol

Also im not at idiot, bafoon, or a dickhead. And for you to bash on a member of the exclusive club which is western michigan university when you in fact attended it.....is ridiculous. But i forgive you

Central and Western are prolly about equall its just they offer a different setting and are for different majors.

Mt. Plesant is a small college town and i know central is good for teaching and sports med.

Kalamazoo is a lill bit biger of a city and its majors lean more towards business/engineering...aviation.

Sounds like most of you guys are alumni though, so you have a leg up on me. Im in year 3 of like 5.

sure, i remember what people did, and I was every bit a part of that. However, I never refer to my instiution as "wastern". I want my degree to mean something. Claiming to graduate from "wastern" means nothing, even if you are in joking. people wonder where stereotypes come from, "wastern" is exactly where they come from.

btw, wmu is not exclusive by any means, and I took my education seriously, resulting in attending class more than never.

WTFchris

I agree with Bio. You only cheapen your education by saying you only need to go once a week, etc. The truth is that people get what they put into their education. Some people get a great education, and some people don't care. There were PLENTY of parties at Central too. But I only partied on the weekends and got a good education.

I've never really been to Kalamazoo (just drive by it on the way to other places), but I do know Mt Pleasant has nothing to offer (unless you enjoy the casino). The campus is great, but the city is pretty lame.

robcat911

im sure ill start going to class more eventually...but as of right now the prereqs for the business college are a joke. I got a 3.8 gpa and usually go once a week..(that being said class is only 2 times a week) Im just enjoying it untill i hit the engineering math classes. Cause from what i understand their damn near imposible.

Kalamazoo doesnt have that much to offer either as faras the city goes. When Phiser (sp?) layed off half the people in the city it kinda got a lill bit ghetto down there...i find myself heading over to portage most of the time. They have their own version of Hall Road over there, so thats where most of the stores, bars, movies are.

WTFChris...you got any good CMU/WMU weekend stories...from what i understand everyones got at least one.

WTFchris
01-04-2006, 02:39 PM
not really. I went to the games, but that's about it. We lived on the same road as the stadium basically so we barbqued and such at our appartment. nothing wild a crazy. Just beer and hot dogs. Much of my partying was spent in East Lansing with D'snuts. I've had a few shots of Jack Daniels in his appartment.

Well, the WMU football team finished the season with a 7-4 record which was the best winning percentage among Div 1 schools in the state of Michigan this year. That team included the MAC freshman of the year, Coach of the year, Offensive player of the year & Player of the Year.

The Basketball team has had 3 straight 20 win seasons and has had numerous post season apperances in the past 10 years.

The Hockey team hasn't had a really great season in awhile, but has posted wins over top ranked opponents such as Ohio State & Michigan State this year. By the way Central doesn't even have a hockey team.

People are right about the aviation program as one of my good friends attended it. Good, but expensive. They also have one of the best paper engineering programs in the nation. I know that sounds like a funny program, but I know a few people that went through it. Really good education and business schools as well.

As far as the downtown being "ghetto"??? I guess I don't really see that, but then again I'm not looking at Hall Rd. as something I look for in a downtown. It's a really nice area with a bunch to do. 2 Breweries(Bells & Kumheim)along with a Brew Pub(Olde Pennisula) and some really cool bars in the downtown area(Burdicks, Shakespears just to name a few). Kalamazoo also has the nations first outdoor mall along with some nice theatres a good local band scene.

Hey, didn't Dave Dombrowski attend Western?!?!

But then again, Terry Foster attended Central Michigan. So they win that matchup.

I have a couple friends in the aviation program at Western.

Western has had some good bball teams in the past couple of years, but as far as producing pro players, CMU beats then 8-6. Plus CMU's players careers have been much better. Chris Kaman, Thunder Dan Majerlie, and Dan Roundfield (Who I had never heard of, but had a better career than Thunder Dan).

Here is an interesting fact....players by college in michigan

UM 38
MSU 33
U of D 21
Eastern 10
Central 8
Western 6
Wayne State 2
Lawrence Tech 1

Central also has the announcer Dick Enberg who grew in Armada, Mi...but Western does have Tim Allen.

Dettitan-where did you get the pro numbers? just curious to see football and hockey ones as well. edit:just got your PM

btw-kalamazoo is still a nice town, just visted some of the places I mentioned above last weekend. Then again you wouldn't find those places on hall rd either
