Unibomber 12-30-2005, 11:53 PM It's a requirement. But anyway...
How's this for a gay beatdown?
I have A-6 (suit has no bearing).
Flop comes J-J-6.
I'm the short stack, so I push all in.
Guy calls me with an 8-7.
Turn is a 4.
River is a 5.
Fucking gay.
Moodini31 01-11-2006, 06:05 PM Poker sucks and I freaking wish it would go away. Sports channels are wasting a lot of airtime with that crap. :x
And Philip, I have no clue what any of that means.
JickBoy34 01-11-2006, 06:07 PM I feel it, and am good at it.

Exposure on TV is excessive (see Fox Sports Net). But beyond that, poker's still a fun card game to play.

I think PNF downed another quarter shot of vodka.
Vinny 01-11-2006, 10:14 PM I play poker way too much.
Alot of my friends take alot of illicit substances that inhibit their games. Life is good.
WTFchris 01-12-2006, 09:19 AM Poker rocks. They should just make a channel for it like the golf channel. Fox Sports does a bad job with it, I agree.
The only thing I don't like about Poker is when the cry-baby premadonnas (Fucking poker premadonnas? Give me a break.) get all made when they suffer a "bad beat".
You play the shit for a living! You'd think you'd understand that that kind of shit happens more then a few times. You play the odds to a certain degree, and the rest is up to chance. You don't like it? Play something that involves more skill.
I won a tourney today in hold 'em. Not bad at all for sitting on my ass for a long time and eating a shitload of pretzels. I did miss the Pistons game but my DVR picked up slack =P

Like Mike Madisow. I can't stand that whiney bitch. All he does is complain about losing. I could care less if he uses his talking to his advantage, but stop complaining about being out drawn. That is part of the game.
I like guys with antics that don't complain (Unibomber, Scotty Nyuen, etc), or the guys who just shut up and outplay you (Brunson, Juanda, Hansen, Ivey).
Vinny 01-15-2006, 05:03 PM I've been killing the smaller no limit games on paradise lately. Thank you Al Gore for inventing the internet!!!
UncleCliffy 01-17-2006, 08:49 PM This stuff is getting swatted to the off-topic forum. Playing cards is a game, not a sport.
JickBoy34 01-17-2006, 09:43 PM Fuck that...

Agreed. I was playing scattegory's where you have certain categories and have to fill them with a specific letter.
We needed a sport that began with the letter E and my girlfriend said Euchre.
Card games are not a sport damnit.
Taymelo 01-17-2006, 11:29 PM Actually, while I don't care - poker should probably be in "other sports" even though its techincally not a sport - its close enouph to not be off topic, at least.

It sure sounds like you care. :x
If its "technically not a sport", it does not belong in OTHER Sports.
and to think I used to look up to you :)
Taymelo 01-17-2006, 11:41 PM and to think I used to look up to you :)
Yeah. That was your first big mistake.
Don't let it happen again. Look up to Glenn - he's the wind beneath my wings. :alien:

Well, it probably wasn't my first big mistake but a mistake nonetheless.
I was rather shocked when I actually found myself rooting for Matusow in last year's Series. I think his attitude has completely changed from previous years. He's still loud as hell, but his whining has lessened exponentially.
Seemed to me he was having a great time. I loved watching him get Helmuth all lathered up.

It was a pretty horrible call, but like you said you were the short stack and people will make all kinds of weak calls against you in that situation.

plus, there's no information on how much was in the pot already, how big 8-7's stack was, and how much more it was for the 8-7 guy to call. even though it was a long shot for him, he might have been getting good pot odds and/or a chance to knock someone out (if it was a tournament)
Cross 04-23-2006, 01:42 AM I think watching pokers fucking pathetic but playing it is the most fun and yet addiciting shit ever. When I lose, I have the mentality of, "Fuck i can win next time." I get raped in weird situations. I had a fullhouse, went all in, lose to a straight flush...WTF? In another game, there was only like 4 people so I went big. Got a flush, lost to a full house. Fuck i hate the game, but its fun.
If I lose, I'll always rebuy and win the next.
BTW, how much are your buy ins?
Pharaoh 04-23-2006, 12:37 PM I've just started playing with some buddies and we're a little confused on the rules of engagement.
No one knows what the minimum bet is, what the blinds are or any of that technical shit.
I just told them all that you gotta bet something to be "in" for the hand.
On the first go round if you wanna play you gotta bet something small (like $10).
If the guy next to you wants to play he's gotta put in the same amount as the guy before him.
Once we do the flop it's big money time. You can bet as much as you want/raise as much as you want.
Naturally our games don't last long cause guys go stupid with their bets.
I've won a lot, but since I own the fucking chips and cards AND we're not using any real money "until we learn the rules" I don't get shit for winning.
Anyone know the technical shit for bets and all that?
Personally I'm not concerned but I can't start winning their money for real until they all know the rules.

I wish I remember everything. He had, if I'm not mistaken, three to four times the number of chips I had, and I pushed about three-quarters of my stack in for the all-in raise.
Goddamn this was so long ago.
I haven't played against people since Christmas. I'm out of touch.

I play with blinds in the beginning. It usually depends on how much your playing with. Say your playing with 20 bucks to start. Make a dollar or something your small blind and maybe 2 dollars for your big blinds. Then the person on the right of the dealer is the small blind and the person right of the small is big,,,or atleast i think so.
Once you do a flop, you can raise as much as you want STARTING WITH THE SMALL BLIND
If you want to start playing, start at
www.triplejack.com
I play there and its a very good place to start
