i'm going to say it first. I don't think the spurs will make it. The mavericks are better then them. They are younger, deeper and much more hungry.

View Full Version : spurs won't get to the finals. (old thread) Koolaid 12-30-2005, 03:46 AM i'm going to say it first. I don't think the spurs will make it. The mavericks are better then them. They are younger, deeper and much more hungry. Cross 12-30-2005, 10:28 AM Spurs are better than the Mavs. Mavs are deeper but why does youth have anything to do with the Finals? Wouldnt you want a team with more playogg experience? MAvs are deeper but the Spurs are simply better. OUtside of Dirk, JAson Terry is the next best player...Holy shit that says alot. 1. Mavs have a group of guys who are between good to ok, no great sexy players. 2. Mavs 3rd best player is Dampier :D MOLA1 12-30-2005, 10:41 AM Well, they're the only 2 teams I'm worried about and honestly I'd rather face the Spurs. You'd have to be a fool to look at Dallas' roster and not notice their depth. They don't have any great players? All they have is a bunch, and I mean a BUNCH of good players. That scares me. Shugadaddi 12-30-2005, 10:49 AM This just in: Big German dudes scare MOLA1. WTFchris 12-30-2005, 11:21 AM Spurs are very deep too (on the wings anyway). I like our chances against both though because neither team can contain Sheed/Dyess in the post if we are detirmined to ride them. Also, neither has a defensive PG to match up with Billups. Glenn 12-30-2005, 11:24 AM Shawn Bradley leaving the Mavs and the team improving is completely coincidental. Just wanted to add that. My Western Conf Power Rankings 1. Spurs 2. Mavs 3. Suns no reason to list any more than that MOLA1 12-30-2005, 11:28 AM We're better than everyone, but that doesn't mean we don't have comp. realistic 12-30-2005, 12:01 PM I would rather play the Mavs than the Spurs. Mavs are less battle-tested. And anyway I think picking the Mavs to beat the Spurs is a bit like picking Miami to beat the Pistons. Probably the media would like to see some fresh blood in the finals, but a couple of bruisers like SA and DET couldn't care less about fresh storytelling. The only story that matters is their own. Anthony 12-30-2005, 12:07 PM I picked the spurs and pistons to meet in the finals again this year. But to tell you the truth, i'd much rather see the Mavs. Artis Gilmore 12-30-2005, 01:31 PM Devin Harris always kills us. The thing with Dallas is you never know whos gonna be the 2nd scorer to Dirk. Sometimes its Howard then Daniels, Terry, Harris, blah blah. But in SA you always know it will be Parker or Ginobili. I think the depth on those two teams are equal. Coaching, Johnson is a hell of a coach, but Pop knows how to get it done. I think Dallas can give SA a challenge, but SA has better preformers in the playoffs plus Big Shot Bob () So I think the Spurs will be in the finals. Vinny 12-30-2005, 02:53 PM Josh Howard's a baller, don't underrate the Mavs. I'd say Howard's even their second best player. ojay 12-30-2005, 05:42 PM I think the Spurs will still make it. Popovich always makes them work in the playoffs, and Avery is just beginning his run. Experience here. I'd rather face the Spurs. They're the closest clones of us, and there's no way they'll shoot 80% from the field and just light us up. Dallas has a lot of firepower and youth, but as defensive stoppers... I'll have to see next time we face the Mavs  GotCrotty? 12-30-2005, 06:37 PM No props for Memphis here? I really think any of the 4 teams of Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix, and Memphis can win the west and even the NBA title. They way I see it, there are 6 elite teams in the NBA. 1. Detroit 2. San Antonio 3. Dallas 4. Memphis 5. Miami (If Wade plays like he did last night, and White chocolate, and if shaq can put in 20 a game, this team scares the shit out of me. But they have to be perfect.) 6. Phoenix. MOLA1 12-31-2005, 12:31 PM Not after Damon got sniped. Koolaid 12-31-2005, 12:34 PM memphis is the cleveland of the west. they're good but they're not THAT good. Biochemical Equation 12-31-2005, 02:53 PM Well, they're the only 2 teams I'm worried about and honestly I'd rather face the Spurs. You'd have to be a fool to look at Dallas' roster and not notice their depth. They don't have any great players? All they have is a bunch, and I mean a BUNCH of good players. That scares me. dirk is a great plalyer, and josh howard continues to improve. id rank him above jason terry or anybody else on that squad. that being said, the author of this thread is right in the way that the mavs are hungry, and you can see that when they play. The pistons can take either team, especially with home court advantage, which is what this furious start ensures. Darth Thanatos 12-31-2005, 05:29 PM To me, Detroit and San Antonio are the only championship teams. It's kind of like those two teams are Godzilla and Rodan, while the rest of the league are civilians, with Miami as the Big Show. Dallas needs one more year(Cleveland 2-3). Phoenix is waaaaaaaaaay too one-dimensional to be taken serious. And who said Memphis? rofl They're best player is a psuedo All-Star and the rest of the team is filled with 30 year old hasbeens and neverweres. VaginaFan69 01-02-2006, 04:06 PM spurs are alot better than dallas, and they will beat them in 5 games Unibomber 01-02-2006, 07:45 PM Josh Howard's a baller, don't underrate the Mavs. I'd say Howard's even their second best player. That's because he is by a long shot. If Daniels or Terry showed up every night, they'd give him a run for his money. Guys, the Spurs are going back. Let's not kid ourselves. The Suns are not that great. The Clippers will falter again, like last year. The Rockets won't get back up to speed. The Mavs can only do so much before Poppovich turns it up. Archie's right. Hope you guys don't mind seeing SA again. at Memphis. They're good, but too damn inconsistent to maintain themselves in the playoffs. Plus, they have no C. Tahoe 04-26-2009, 11:41 PM Shawn Bradley leaving the Mavs and the team improving is completely coincidental. Just wanted to add that. My Western Conf Power Rankings 1. Spurs 2. Mavs 3. Suns no reason to list any more than that Pharaoh 04-27-2009, 05:01 AM Why the fuck did you bump this shit from 3 years ago? Cause of that Spurs shit from Glenn? LOL - NOT! It was 3 years ago. Glenn 04-27-2009, 05:18 AM In other words, pre-DONE. Thanks for illustrating my objectivity though, Tahoe. Pharaoh 04-27-2009, 05:47 AM Thanks for wasting my fucking time, Tahoe. Bumping old shit is fucking pointless. MoTown 04-27-2009, 08:18 AM VaginaFan69 only had 18 posts before he was banned? Pharaoh 04-27-2009, 08:40 AM Nothing like jumping the gun... Then again maybe his 18 posts were really bad. The good Lord knows I would be banned from every other fan forum for swearing so you know if someone got banned here they must have done some harsh shit. Or maybe Glenn was bored? Tahoe 04-27-2009, 12:34 PM Freekin P wastes more time complaining about my posts. I like reading this old shit. It was from the Kool Aid Ap thread, btw. Pharaoh 04-28-2009, 02:56 AM You can read this old shit as much as you like, Tahoe. I just wish you didnt have to fucking post in the thread after you finished reading it. |
