Mikey, Radiohead is fantastic, but so depressing. I hope you own a hanky. Actually, I don't because hankys are gross and depressing and for old men in flannel shirts who smell like pancakes and BO.

These 9, in no particular order, are my favorite, and no one, not even Jesus, has a better favorite nine than these:

Wilco "Summerteeth"
Flaming Lips "Pink Robots"
Prodigy (the one with Smack My Bitch Up, whatever it's called)
Neil Young "Harvest"
Weezer (Blue album)
Soundtrack of the movie, Pump up the Volume
Pearl Jam "Ten"
One of those Collective Soul albums. I was raised in the suburbs.
James "Laid" (yes, I know, very college cliche. But it's in keeping with my PoMo upbringing: it's lame, but I'm aware of it.)

I don't know if I'll get the whole top ten in right now, but I'll agree with some posters as follows, in no particular order (important note - these aren't necessarily my favorite songs, but the albums I would most likely listen to from beginning to end):

Nirvana - Nevermind
Pearl Jam - Ten
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood, Sugar, etc. etc.
Incubus - Science
Incubus - Make Yourself

And a few others:

Lenny Kravitz - Five is not too shabby.

Green Day - Dookie was pretty much a beginning to end disk.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon has a lot of good songs

Prince - 1999/Automatic - both super special happy wonderful fun time crazy good cd's.

That's all for now, folks.

OK, one more to prove that I used to listen to rap music - EPMD - Strictly Business.

That album's great, almost all the way through. I love the slowed down version of Wave of Mutilation on there, and the Above the Law song and the Soundgarden song (Heretic? You can't get the cd anymore and my tape broke awhile ago so I don't remember....), Bad Brains/Henry Rollins.... Good call.

"Territorial Pissings" and "Breed" are songs where Cobain(RIP) does a lot of screaming. I had the album awhile back in high school but my friend(RIP) "borrowed" it for five years. :x

I know this may sound stupid but the best way to see the value in Nirvana's music and influence is their unplugged record. That was Cobain raw and exposed, it showed how he wasn't a great musician in terms of ability or singing but an real artist/songwriter. Plus he was able to take other people's songs and make them his own.

Koolaid and Mola you guys kick ass. Everyone hates on the White Album but I love it more than any other Beatles record. Helter Skelter is one of rock's most under-rated songs of the 60's. That song alone kicked more ass than most of the Stones best work. Sorry I am 100 times more of a fan of the Beatles, than the Stones. The funny thing is Glenn, before I saw the last part of your post, I was thinking of making a "Danzig sucks" post.

This "condescending towards anyone who doesn't share the same tastes as you" shit is fucking annoying.

Seriously.

Get over yourself.

I'm big into classical (Mozart, Beethoven, etc)
I'm a painter so I've got a pretty big range of stuff I listen to, it just depends on what's going on.

You're killing me, Art.

I absolutely hate the first one and absolutely love the second one.

I have the Oils entire catalog, have you ever seen them live? Amazing.

I love INXS the early years, prior to around 1997.

Love Black and White among many other of their real early stuff circa 1983.

BTW I first joined Columbia house back in like 1983-84 and Squeeze, Midnight Oil and INXS were among the first cassette tapes I got.

Never seen them live. Saw Harry live twice, once was a black tie affair at Fox Theatre.
