Official intel: There are a number of NBA coaches who love the fact that the league now announces which officials will be calling games that day. Don't count Saunders among them.
"I just don't want to know," he said. "I don't like to pre-determine too much going into a game."
Still, Saunders recognizes that officials, like players and coaches, have certain tendencies as far as how they do their job.
However, by going in expecting them to call a game a certain way creates potential problems Saunders would just as soon avoid.
"I think you set yourself up, if it's not called that way, all of a sudden you're kind of stone-walled," Saunders said. "We just go in worrying about what we can do. You have to see how the game is being called that night, and then make adjustments."

Of all the things modern basketball statistics might do, one of the most difficult challenges is to rank players. It's nearly impossible to quantify everything a player does. But that's what everybody wants.
