Official intel: There are a number of NBA coaches who love the fact that the league now announces which officials will be calling games that day. Don't count Saunders among them.
"I just don't want to know," he said. "I don't like to pre-determine too much going into a game."
Still, Saunders recognizes that officials, like players and coaches, have certain tendencies as far as how they do their job.
However, by going in expecting them to call a game a certain way creates potential problems Saunders would just as soon avoid.
"I think you set yourself up, if it's not called that way, all of a sudden you're kind of stone-walled," Saunders said. "We just go in worrying about what we can do. You have to see how the game is being called that night, and then make adjustments."

Of all the things modern basketball statistics might do, one of the most difficult challenges is to rank players. It's nearly impossible to quantify everything a player does. But that's what everybody wants. Here is a look at some of the different new-breed player rankings systems (http://www.countthebasket.com/blog/2008/05/28/comparing-player-ratings/), with a lot of work put into figuring out who ranks really high and really low in each system. Amir Johnson is high in all of them. Chris Paul is way up there in some, but middle of the pack in others. Al Jefferson is either one of the best or one of the worst players in the NBA. Mardy Collins is near the bottom nearly every time.

Can someone link me to the answer to this question.

If you are fouled when shooting, does it count as an attempt?

I'd seriously being bitching about that if it does count. You go up for a shot and Shaq brings his 350 down on you and you crumble like a lil bitch, the ball bursts and everything, but it still counts as an attempt. Thats fucked up if it does.

Vinny

If the officials determine that a player should be granted continuation on an offensive attempt after a defensive block, hold, grab or other infraction, and the offensive player proceeds to make said attempt into the opposing team's goal, said offensive player will be credited with both an attempted shot and a made shot on the official statistical record and his team will be credited with either 2 or 3 points depending upon the location from which the attempt was taken.

If the aforementioned shot attempt does not enter the opposing team's goal in a legal manner, then the aforementioned player will be credited with neither a shot attempt nor a shot make on the official statistical record and his team will be credited with 0 points.

ESPN re-designed thier Trade Machine to include HOLLINGER'S ANALYSIS

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine

Now, John Hollinger can tell you how many wins or losses that each trade will result in!

Projected Record Note:
Projected records are based on the PER of the players in each team’s post-trade rotation. Taking into account the players traded and the ability of their replacements, it is possible for each team in a trade to have a better projected record, or for each team to have a worse one, or for one team to be better and another to be worse by a different number of games.

From the last link (the unicorn one) = "Getting lucky (http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/39546/the-oklahoma-city-unicorns#) for three straight years in the draft is only a part of the Thunder story. The reality is teams that draft in the lottery for six straight years are more likely to resemble the Kings than become the Thunder. To a perpetually bad franchise pursuing "the Thunder model," my advice is the same as it would be for someone hunting a unicorn: good luck, and don't be upset if all you find are horses"
