Wayne Gretzky. Wow. His greatness as a player is starting to get a little competition from his greatness as the architect for the Canadian Olympic team and his soon to be greatness as a coach. He's like a reverse Isiah Thomas.
Seriously....would anyone be suprised if he was the next Prime Minister of Canada?
Oh, and his wife is still hot after all of these years.

He hasnt shown he can coach or be a successful GM yet.
He has done a great job for the Canadian olympic team, but they are loaded and only a complete idiot (Mike Kenanan, sp?) could screw it up. I mean it is not like they have any doubt who is going to be on the top 3 lines, top 6 D or top goaltender. When your biggest decision is whether to let Crosby have a shot this year or next olympics, well there is just not a lot there.

First of all...let me say that your disrespect of Mike Keenen has only made my amount of respect for you skyrocket. Let's just say you have earned the most possible respect that I can have for a Wolverines fan. I tip my hat to you, kind sir.
And yes, he has done a good job with the Olympic team. Sure, it's not hard to put together a roster with 3/4 of the NHL to choose from, but they seem to be playing with pride and urgency....which is something they sorely lacked. I have to slide a fair amount of credit his way.
And no, he has yet to really prove himself as a coach, but he seems to be handling the basics well and the team listens to and respects him a great deal (for his coaching). I even understand that he's actually quite feared in the locker room. I don't expect him to even really make the post season, but he's at least competitive with a bunch of "has-beens" and "never really will be anythings". Shit, even Curtis Joseph is playing better than usual.
The good news is the upside. The new rules feed right into his coaching philosophy and his strengths as a former player.
Did I mention his hot wife?

I agree with you about his wife and about the new rules helping him, but I just dont see him ever being a success as a coach. As an owner, I think he could do great if he is not a meddler, but as a coach, I dont know if he has "it". Like what Dave Smith was missing.
On Keenen, can any man do less with as much as he has had a a coach? I am old to remember back in the 80's when he coached the Hawks.

It's quite possible that he doesn't have that "it" quality....but so far he's almost a miracle worker with that Pheonix team. It is really early though.
Ugh....Keenan. He's fucked up more teams than expansion ever has.
