Seriously....did anyone else see this?
This was the first shoot out of the season for The Wings, and considering that they were the absolute last team in the league to participate in a shoot out, I was awfully worried that they would suck at it.
Three things:
1.) Datsuk's goal was the sweetest shit so far.
2.) Williams through the five hole....are you kidding me?
3.) Winning the game by stoning Federov on the Jacket's last shot? Doesn't get any better than this.
Now I just can't even wait for the next one.

It was stoopid that they boo'd Federov.
Dude is like their 4th all time leading scorer and they boo'd him.
Didn't he win some cups and some Hart trophies for them or something?

Well...the fans still seem to be a bit bitter about his whole "holding out for more money" thing. Although he was a true talent while he was here, he was a whiny spoiled bitch who will always be remembered for holding out when his team needed him the most. He begged to be traded to a team in California and then went to Anehiem and sucked major wang. Now he's stuck playing for the second worst team in the league....IN COLUMBUS of all places. Justice is once again served.
However... the fans are a bit rough on him. It's been 4 years and they still boo him EVERY time he touches the puck. Now THAT'S dedication.....and a bit over the top.

He turned down the money we were trying to give him to hold out for more offers. We then offer him the same per year salary for one less year, and he wants the original and complains. They tell him he's too late for that and then goes and signs with the Kings for the same money that we were offering him, because L.A. is the city of stars.
He deserves to be boo'd. Yes he was the most exciting player here maybe in our history, but he should have taken a page from Stevie's book - loyalty. The Wings did everything for him and more. Fuck Sergei.

Oh and that shootout was awesome. When Datsyuk is in the mood, he is the most fun to watch player in the NHL.

That's just the business side of sports, IMO.
I've heard over and over again that Yzerman didn't want Sergei back, so I'm betting that he knew that (Sergei) and was trying to get the best deal he could in the process.

Yzerman probably didn't want him back because he was a bitch. Federov was coddle just like Jagr when he came to Detroit. They paid him a ridiculous amount of money and gave him everything that he ever wanted. He bitched about his ice time, he bitched about his salary, he complained because he wanted to play in Cali, and he was pissed that he was always a second fiddle while wearing the winged wheel.
While I do agree that it's a bit much.....he deserves to get booed when he comes to play here....and now he gets to play us 8 times a year. Man....when justice prevails, sometimes it's almost too brutal for words.

Did he complain much when Bowman made him a defenseman?

Nobody complained when Bowman did anything. The guy had a frickin' metal plate in his head. Would you fuck with that guy?
The reason he made #91 (as well as #19) a defenceman is because both of them refused to play defence. When Scotty was done with them they were both outstanding 2 way players.
Oh, and yes....he complained his ass off. He hated playing for Scottie.
