View Full Version : Technical issues Glenn 12-23-2005, 09:46 AM Post them here if you find any. There are bound to be some issues as we get settled in, so please be patient. Glenn 12-23-2005, 09:46 AM I'm having a problem getting read messages marked as read. Even after marking all forums as read, they are still showing as new in some cases, but not all. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me? WTFchris 12-23-2005, 10:15 AM there is some wierd formatting when you reply. The emoticons window is huge and they don't show properly. Not a huge deal, just letting you guys know. Anthony 12-23-2005, 10:39 AM I'm having a problem getting read messages marked as read. Even after marking all forums as read, they are still showing as new in some cases, but not all. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me? Yeah. Fuckin weird. Its working for me today. I wonder if its a cookies thing? WTFchris 12-23-2005, 11:14 AM The site has logged me out 3 times so far (depite having it remmber me checked). Not sure why. MOLA1 12-23-2005, 11:30 AM I have had 0 issues. Strange. Glenn 12-23-2005, 11:34 AM You are due to catch a break. I've just been logging out and then logging back in to clear the unread messages. It works for me, in the short term, at least. Anthony 12-23-2005, 12:21 PM do you guys have "www" in the url. For some reason I only have those issues when i put in www in the URL. Try just putting in http://wtfdetroit.com Glenn 12-23-2005, 12:40 PM do you guys have "www" in the url. For some reason I only have those issues when i put in www in the URL. Try just putting in http://wtfdetroit.com wow, that appears to have fixed it still, it would be good to have it work both ways, if you can figure that out, let MOLA know Cross 12-25-2005, 04:21 AM Im sure most people know but the emoticons are fucked up. hello koolaid MOLA1 12-25-2005, 08:35 AM Should be straight now. Jethro34 12-25-2005, 08:54 PM The site has logged me out 3 times so far (depite having it remmber me checked). Not sure why. I'm having these same issues. I click the always log me in box and it doesn't even log me in the first attempt. It works the next time, but then if I close the internet window and re-opne it im my favorites again, it doesn't remember me. Other than that, I'm good. Nice work. Unibomber 12-26-2005, 01:21 AM I'm having a problem getting read messages marked as read. Even after marking all forums as read, they are still showing as new in some cases, but not all. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me? Yeah, now when I'm logged in, nothing comes up as new. WTF? H1Man 12-28-2005, 12:55 AM I am having trouble logging into the site with the first attempt. I had login in 3 different times before it would work. And when I do login all the posts are marked as read. Weird. H1Man 12-28-2005, 08:24 PM Fuck. I just got a error message saying "Couldn't connect to database" and then when I refreshed it, it worked but everything shows up as new. WTFchris 12-29-2005, 09:17 AM I am having trouble logging into the site with the first attempt. I had login in 3 different times before it would work. And when I do login all the posts are marked as read. Weird. I'm still getting that error too. Nobody else mentioned it, so I updated my windows completely and reset all my internet explorer settings just to see if it was my PC. But it's still happening to me too. Wierd. Vinny 12-30-2005, 02:29 PM I still get the login problems as of Today, december 30th. Also, starting about twenty minutes ago, when I look at a thread where a new post is, it still shows up with the Orange circle as if it's still unread. I've tried refreshing, etc., to no avail. Glenn 12-30-2005, 02:31 PM I still get the login problems as of Today, december 30th. Also, starting about twenty minutes ago, when I look at a thread where a new post is, it still shows up with the Orange circle as if it's still unread. I've tried refreshing, etc., to no avail. Vinny, are you using http://wtfdetroit.com/index.php without the "www"? Once I switched over to that url, my similar problems ceased to exist. Vinny 12-30-2005, 02:34 PM Nice, thanks. Vinny 12-30-2005, 02:37 PM Any way we can set the avatar thing to automatically limit/shrink image sizes? H1Man 12-31-2005, 03:53 PM I am still have login problems even though I am using the http://wtfdetroit.com/index.php without the "www". Got any suggestions? Anthony 12-31-2005, 04:10 PM Do you have cookies enabled? That could be it. Its working fine for me. Pharaoh 01-04-2006, 08:46 AM I am still have login problems even though I am using the http://wtfdetroit.com/index.php without the "www". Got any suggestions? I have the same problem and it's fucking weird. I'll log in as soon as I come here (on the bottom of the index). Then I'll go look at stuff and when I want to post it wants me to log in again. This is a bitch since I use the Quick Reply thing all the time. Now I might get 3 or more threads done with that log in but it isn't too long before all of a sudden I'm logged out again. WTF? I use that url and firefox but do a clean up and all that other shit after I get offline, every single time so my cookies are non-existent. Oh, I'm also having a problem with the Off-Topic board. It's fucking boring. Is this a tech issue or are the OT legends letting the side down? Can we get some fucking decent topics in the OT board or not? Don't make me start another Bible thread. WTFchris 01-04-2006, 09:24 AM mine has been working the last few days since I stopped using the "www" MOLA1 01-04-2006, 10:47 AM You know what sucks? I haven't had this problem since we got here. On www or just straight up. It's hard to fix something that I can't diagnose. You feel me? TK 01-04-2006, 10:53 AM You know what sucks? I haven't had this problem since we got here. On www or just straight up. It's hard to fix something that I can't diagnose. You feel me? It's happened to me as well, but not today. No big whup. WTFchris 01-04-2006, 11:37 AM yeah, no sweat for me. It was annoying the first few days, but after I stopped using the www it's fine. Hope it works for everyone else too cause this site rocks. MOLA1 01-04-2006, 01:53 PM It's only going to get better. WTFchris 01-04-2006, 02:18 PM that's because you're now posting in HD. Pharaoh 01-04-2006, 08:31 PM Fucking happened again! I logged in, viewed threads in the Boardroom and the Stands and then came here. I checked to see if I was still logged in and according to the page I was. So I use the quick reply and BOOM! have to log in. Fuck! Anyway, I use the http: not the www. url so that's not the problem. Might it be because I delete my cookies? It's not a big deal since I don't post much but it's still a pain in the arse H1Man 01-04-2006, 09:52 PM Fucking happened again! It's not a big deal since I don't post much but it's still a pain in the arse That just happened to me again. The thing that bothers me the most is I can't figure out which threads I read because it will show either everything is read or everything is unread. Fucking annoying. Pharaoh 01-05-2006, 07:23 AM Ok, it happened again! I logged on and checked the Boardroom. I made 1 post then checked the stands. Nothing much there so I came here to see if any experts had come up with a solutions. No such luck so I typed in this reply: Yeah, and if one of you expert tech heads can figure it out we'd be grateful. BTW, this never happened when I was using Explorer, even though I deleted my cookies all the time. So is it firefox? I think Mola uses it as well so if he's got no drama then why is this site fucking with me? And was asked again to log in. WTF! I'm just gonna copy all my posts for today and from now on I'll use Explorer when I come here. It's no big deal. Good luck H1Man JS 01-05-2006, 07:54 AM It does the same thing to me I can't stayed logged on from forum to forum. bangpow 01-05-2006, 09:07 AM I use Firefox and I have no problems with the site. bangpow 01-05-2006, 09:10 AM I just tried and went to The Stands and checked a post in there and all. So, we'll see if this post goes through. edit: It worked fine for me. Insted of clearing you cookies, try clearing you "cache", that might work. Pharaoh 01-05-2006, 09:12 AM So does anyone wanna take a guess at why I'm having problems then? If bangpow is using the same browser and it's all good for him why is mine fucking around? Glenn 01-05-2006, 09:12 AM it's gotta be a cookies issue that's my best guess have you tried lowering your security settings one notch? Pharaoh 01-05-2006, 09:19 AM Can anyone explain to me why I've been to this thread 3 times since going online and everytime I come in here I have to log in to post? Fuck this shit. I'll just use explorer for this site and firefox for everything else Or are my settings fucked on firefox? I have no idea. Damn pc shit - too much fucking hassle. bangpow 01-05-2006, 09:23 AM So does anyone wanna take a guess at why I'm having problems then? If bangpow is using the same browser and it's all good for him why is mine fucking around? I use Firefox 1.5 and I cleared my cache a bunch of times last night because i was working on my site. I also use a Mac, which i'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I mean, it shouldn't. MOLA1 01-05-2006, 10:48 AM I guess I haven't had problems because I'm on Firefox. P...use Firefox. Matter of fact, I'm going to demand that everyone use Firefox here. (I'm not demanding, just suggesting.) Glenn 01-05-2006, 10:49 AM he is MOLA1 01-05-2006, 11:42 AM :D Kilo 01-05-2006, 02:17 PM CM_Kilo doesn't get "new thread" recognition when he logs on, only posts that happen while he's logged on indicate as "new posts"... Glenn 01-05-2006, 02:32 PM are you using http://wtfdetroit.com or www.wtfdetroit.com? Anthony 01-05-2006, 02:32 PM Funny. I have no issues. WTFchris 01-05-2006, 02:38 PM CM_Kilo doesn't get "new thread" recognition when he logs on, only posts that happen while he's logged on indicate as "new posts"... It also causes you to post in the 3rd person. Kilo 01-05-2006, 02:49 PM CM Kilo is using the triple dubya address. CM Kilo doesn't know these internets too well. Quel est la différence? Glenn 01-05-2006, 03:52 PM Quel est la différence? As they said in Airplane, that's not really important right now. Just try the other one and see if it helps. alsoidon'tknowwhyitmakesadifferencebutitdoes Pharaoh 01-05-2006, 07:14 PM Using Explorer and no problems. Fuck firefox for WTF. I'll still use it for everything else though. RegicideGreg 01-05-2006, 11:11 PM The time on the "most recent post" part is an hour different from what it says on the main page. Biochemical Equation 01-05-2006, 11:32 PM Using Explorer and no problems. Fuck firefox for WTF. I'll still use it for everything else though. using two browsers is like using two dildos more than one is not twice the fun. Taymelo 01-06-2006, 06:27 AM Using Explorer and no problems. Fuck firefox for WTF. I'll still use it for everything else though. using two browsers is like using two dildos more than one is not twice the fun. You speaking from experience, Bronc? Pharaoh 01-06-2006, 08:50 AM Well, no fuck ups with using Explorer so far and I've done the usual (boardroom, stands, then here) So no more firefox at WTF. Glenn 01-13-2006, 10:25 AM There is a problem with this emoticon. The only way to get it to display properly is by posting the URL and using img tags. http://wtfdetroit.com/images/smiles/evil5.gif It shows up as "evil3" when you select it from the emoticon menu, but evil3 is a different one, the url says "evil5" but evil5 is yet another different one. I normally wouldn't care, but this is one of my favorites. THX Taymelo 01-13-2006, 11:23 AM Each and every time I log in, I have to log in twice. I log in, but am not logged in. I then log in again, and I'm logged in. Each and every time (happens to me at WRH, too - are on the same server?) WTFchris 01-13-2006, 11:37 AM Each and every time I log in, I have to log in twice. I log in, but am not logged in. I then log in again, and I'm logged in. Each and every time (happens to me at WRH, too - are on the same server?) Maybe the site it trying to keep you out. Anthony 01-13-2006, 02:52 PM Each and every time I log in, I have to log in twice. I log in, but am not logged in. I then log in again, and I'm logged in. Each and every time (happens to me at WRH, too - are on the same server?) Check the privacy tab in your internet options. Make sure its on Med. or Med. Low. H1Man 01-14-2006, 06:38 AM Does this site use any 3rd party cookies? The reason I ask is because my security options are set to reject all 3rd party cookies, so I am not sure if that plays any role in the login issues. The problem does occur with Firefox too, so I don't think it's just limited to IE. MOLA1 01-14-2006, 11:37 AM THIS IS FUCKED!!!!!!!!!! I have not had 1 problem here besides having to read Denny's posts. I'm having a great time here at WTF without any problems. Anthony 01-14-2006, 12:23 PM It has to do with their browser settings. I dont have issues either. Its just a few people. H1Man 01-16-2006, 02:29 AM It has to do with their browser settings. I think the issue might be with Firefox. Whenever I used Firefox, I almost always had to login multiple times before it worked. But with IE, it's not as frequent. MOLA1 01-16-2006, 08:46 AM That's the weird part. I use Firefox. Anthony 01-16-2006, 11:31 AM Thats fucked. Is there a security setting with FF? Sorry, I dont use it. The new IE explorer does a great job of blocking popups and most spywear, so I never bothered. I do miss tabbed browsing though :( TK 01-16-2006, 03:27 PM Guest Mon Jan 16, 2006 3:23 pm Posting a message How is that possible? Is the revolution afoot? Should we board up our womenfolk and livestock? i'm so scared right now you guys.... DrRay11 01-16-2006, 03:29 PM ^^Didn't we disallow guest posting? also I haven't had a technical issue so far. Glenn 01-16-2006, 03:33 PM Guest Mon Jan 16, 2006 3:23 pm Posting a message How is that possible? Is the revolution afoot? Should we board up our womenfolk and livestock? i'm so scared right now you guys.... The way I understand it, there's actually a few second delay in getting the visitors moved over to "Who's online" after they log in. Does that make sense? When you see a visitor "checking private messages", that is actually a registered poster that has just logged in and their name just hasn't been recognized/moved over to the "Who's online" section yet. I'm sure that clears it up. But fear is the appropriate reaction, TK. Taymelo 01-16-2006, 03:50 PM I know I've already posted this once today... but here goes: THE CALLS ARE COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE!!! DennyMcLain 01-20-2006, 06:52 PM What's going on with the emoticons? Anthony 01-20-2006, 08:42 PM MOLA has a red x fettish. [smilie=redxdance.g: [smilie=missing.gif] [smilie=newdog.gif] H1Man 02-08-2006, 04:05 AM I just posted something in the Hockey board and when I went back to the main page, every forum and post showed up as unread. [smilie=404.gif] Anthony 02-08-2006, 10:39 AM Sometimes that happens to me when I have two browsers open and both have WTF on them, or when i've been on for a while and didnt read threads. But that happens on all PHPBB forums. Cross 02-12-2006, 04:50 AM A few weeks ago or something, I could post images just fine. UncleCliffy 02-21-2006, 11:21 AM THE SITE IS SUPER SLOW FOR THE LAST 2 DAYS. Glenn 02-21-2006, 11:30 AM How come when you click on a persons name and search for all of their posts, it doesn't work. It works 98% of the time, like when I click on your profile, I can view your posts. But I have seen it every now and then when it doesn't work. And yes, the site has been slow on occasion over the past two days. Hopefully it's temporary, but since your site is hosted at the same place, you probably know more about this than I do. Black Dynamite 02-21-2006, 12:39 PM The site lags when im using the alternate theme. Glenn 02-21-2006, 12:40 PM The site lags when im using the alternate theme. Quit fucking it up for everybody then! alsoj/k Anthony 02-21-2006, 12:47 PM Seems to be working fine today. Cliffy's site was slow as hell yesterday too. But things seem to be ok. UncleCliffy 02-21-2006, 01:21 PM I think its going up and down on my end. I'm fearful that the host oversold their bandwidth because of the outrageous deals. I checked the host for any status but I don't see anything. We'll see what happens. Matt 02-21-2006, 01:28 PM the support team over at Dreamhost said that everything looks fine, but they're going to check the servers that the databases for the site use to make sure everything's working ok. unclecliffy, i was thinking the same thing. You might need to delete some old sent PMs, therefore you should, you guessed it...check your PMs. DennyMcLain 02-23-2006, 10:04 AM Yes. It was full, but I've already deleted half of them, and it still won't work. I'll try deleting them all and see what happens. DennyMcLain 02-23-2006, 10:08 AM Nope. I quit WTF and re-logged, hoping to reset everything... still unable to PM. Matt 02-23-2006, 10:29 AM Nope. Matt 02-23-2006, 05:17 PM Is the site superslow or is it just me? yeah the site seems to be lagging for me as well. we've contacted the webhost to see if there are any issues on their end. Matt 02-23-2006, 11:52 PM just got word from the web host that there were some sites that share the server with WTFD, which were causing slowdowns across the server. they're looking into fixing the problems and we should see speeds back to normal soon. H1Man 02-24-2006, 11:12 PM I am having issues logging in....again. I haven't had a problem in a while but since the update, there have been quite a few times where I had to login multiple times for it to work.
