The Brewers will receive minor league infielder Javier Betancourt and player to be named. The Tigers also will receive a player to be named in addition to Rodriguez.

That contract seems really reasonable?

I'm fine with it but this I've been pissed we didn't pick him up for 3 or 4 years now. I think it was 4 offseasons ago he wasn't offered a contract by ANYBODY and just sat out April until Milwaukee finally signed him in May for like $1 Million on a flyer....and I'm pretty sure that was the second year in a row Milwaukee picked him up in a similar scenario, off the scrap-heap despite good numbers.

Those are the kinds of chances DD should have been taking all along, there are guys out there every year that get signed as middle relievers for like 2-5 Million and have great seasons. We should have been signing 3-4 veterans instead of counting on production from rookies or rebounds from injuries...The market's been skewed since but at the time quality middle relievers were the biggest value in the market and it was sickening that we'd spend all the money we did with the only obvious major flaw being the bullpen and then not spend the extra $10 Mill to fill the glaring hole. The marginal revenue is worth SO MUCH LESS once you're already spending that much. If the only acceptable result is a World Series , and you're spending X dollars over what it costs to just be base competitive, you're actually just throwing that X dollars away by not spending the extra $10M....It upsets me as a baseball fan AND as an amateur economist AND as a professional internet troll.
