Glenn 06-05-2015, 07:40 AM Was just come here with this

Uncle Mxy 06-05-2015, 07:52 AM Seems like taking the Tom Wilson role would be a step down from being a mega-agent, but what do I know about either?
Glenn 06-05-2015, 07:56 AM Wonder how much ownership stake he's getting
Maybe Gores is convinced the downtown Detroit real estate market is finally turning the corner and Tellem is getting in on the ground floor.
Uncle Mxy 06-07-2015, 07:55 AM Wonder how much ownership stake he's getting
Sounds like he's getting milestone-based ownership options:

Tellem will not have an ownership stake when he joins the franchise in August, but a direct equity stake is possible in the future, a Pistons spokesman said.
Glenn 06-07-2015, 08:13 AM That shirt, lol
MikeMyers 06-07-2015, 10:24 AM Is that the Pistons logo on that shirt lol.
Timone 06-07-2015, 01:11 PM Any relation to Souljaboy?
Van Gundy was hired a year ago by Gores to breathe new life into the struggling Pistons basketball team, which has failed to make the NBA playoffs every year since the death of former owner Bill Davidson in 2009. The Pistons fell short again this past year with a record of 32-50, but Van Gundy still has the owner's confidence. "Stan, in a year, has done a better job than we did in the previous three as far as getting the team stabilizing and headed in a certain direction," Gores said.
Is @fatjoedumars still alive? Wonder what he thinks about that statement.

Uncle Mxy 06-12-2015, 08:52 AM The tl;dr version is that Arn Tellem is connected all over the damn place.
It's a good article worth reading in full.
Glenn 06-12-2015, 09:03 AM We finally have a Detroit media dude that's worth a damn in Bill Shea, my opinion.
Bill Shea is AWFUL. Guy swam into the DSR for like a month and was just obliterated. The Crains angle is the only thing "he" brings which anyone from Crains would bring.
Glenn 06-12-2015, 10:23 AM Guy got ripped on DSR = bad reporter
The purpose of the DSR is/was to be critical of sports reporting, so yeah. The good reporters are lauded. The bad ones are criticized. The pompous bad ones are obliterated. I believe he wrote a blog entry or some report that was complimentary of the DSR before joining, joined and exposed his dar and then quickly snowballed his dar into self immolation and mockery from the group.

Shea might be bad at engaging in internet banter or not clever enough to out-insult those guys (or maybe not come to their parties), but I like his published material. I find Moss' brand of antagonism entertaining at times, but I don't feel like he's the arbiter of what good writing is or is not. He's got an opinion like we do, but you and I don't have a six-pack of cronies like he does.
I do have cronies but Shea isn't terrible because he was awful at the DSR, he's terrible because he's a lazy reporter (generally the main issue that runs someone afoul at the DSR, btw). And I'm not using the DSR as the arbiter of reporting value, but rather as a reference to how I'm aware of his awfulness. I interacted with the guy and paid attention to his work because he joined the DSR. He was destroyed at the DSR because it is full of people who pay attention to, not just sports but, sports media in particular and his shuck and jive reporting couldn't hold up to the scrutiny.
Glenn 06-12-2015, 03:58 PM He was destroyed at the DSR because it is full of people
How many?
Not trying to further the argument, just curious.
Glenn 06-12-2015, 04:50 PM Also, to summarize, Shea does not have Moss' protection.
I stopped hanging around there ... maybe two years ago now... but I would guess there were typically 50 or so regularly active members at any one time. Usually about a dozen and a half who actually payed attention to the "level of journalism" issue (mostly long-time members) that the place was started on. Those are Facebook era numbers. Prior to Facebook the regularly active members numbers were smaller, not so much the long-timers though.
MikeMyers 06-13-2015, 09:31 AM I just can't see the Pistons moving downtown and sharing an arena when they have an arena they control. More people might show up if the arena is downtown but if the team is good, people will fill the Palace.
Uncle Mxy 06-14-2015, 02:00 AM The only way the Pistons move is if they get enough concerts and such to fill the void of the Pistons leaving.
Glenn 06-24-2015, 10:21 PM Lamarcus Aldridge is/was a Tellem client, you guys.
Uncle Mxy 06-25-2015, 02:57 PM Aldridge for Moose would be ridonkulous!
