View Full Version : TRADE: Reggie Jackson to Pistons
Timone 02-19-2015, 03:36 PM The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded point guard Reggie Jackson to the Detroit Pistons as part of a three-team deal with the Utah Jazz, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports.
The Thunder will also send Kendrick Perkins to the Jazz in exchange for Enes Kanter and acquire Kyle Singler from the Pistons, Wojnarowski reports.
Timone 02-19-2015, 03:39 PM Looks like DJ's gone too. (OKC)
Higherwarrior 02-19-2015, 04:11 PM really hate to lose DJ. kid is nice. but he's not a longterm starter. so to get Jackson is nothing short of a steal IMO. like that kid a lot- he would be a starter on many other teams. he brings size and toughness too.
he's a RFA so financially the deal is tough to swallow. we'll have to pay a lot to keep him. but my immediate reaction is this is an awesome trade. did not see this coming...
It's easily a positive trade for us. And the dude was apparently dying to get out of OKC so he should love the opportunity.
Higherwarrior 02-19-2015, 09:54 PM great trade for both teams really. OKC gets durrant's former texas teammate and a solid backup PG behind westbrook who won't be upset he's not a starter, as Jackson was. Detroit gets a young, hungry, eager to prove himself reggie Jackson who will be a RFA this offseason. if he's awesome we can match any offer OR even sign and trade him if we get the right offer. it's a win-win for us. and a good move for OKC too. especially if you look at who else they traded for. they could make a legit run. we could be building a legit team. everybody wins.
Higherwarrior 02-19-2015, 10:04 PM turns out we also gave up 2nd rounders in 2017 and in 2019 in this deal. now I'm infuriated and think this was a terrible deal!
I kid, I kid. I wouldn't say they're meaningless because you want picks to take shots on players- you never know what gem you might uncover. but having said that, we can trade for them as easily as we can trade them away. so it's no major loss and I'm fine with it.
now since I said that, watch those picks turn into 2 future HOF players for some other team.
Uncle Mxy 02-20-2015, 06:50 AM In 13 games as a starter, Augustin scored 19 ppg with 8 apg on 45% shooting.
His team went 4-9.
In 13 games, Jackson as a starter scored 20 ppg with 8 apg on 42% shooting.
His team went 3-10.
Jackson's younger and hopefully a better defender... we'll see.
I'm iffy on this move, and I'd love to be proven wrong.
The assumption is that DJ is at his max potential and Jackson has the possibility to grow (whether he does or not, who knows).
Big Swami 02-20-2015, 02:39 PM I can't hate this move. I'm still crying over Jennings though.
Uncle Mxy 02-20-2015, 03:05 PM I don't think it's horrible, but I'm skeptical about it helping us win more games.
I really like the trade FWIW. I really like the logic behind the trade. The real risk was minimal and the potential reward is huge. It's the kind of move that shows the ultimate goal is beyond just deciding to tank or at best high-five yourself with a playoff seed IMO.
Glenn 02-21-2015, 12:00 PM Nobody's really talking about what this means with the Jennings dynamic.
Trade bait?
I know he was offered in a few deals this year already (allegedly).
Glenn 02-21-2015, 12:02 PM I can't hate this move. I'm still crying over Jennings though.
I'm on vacation and just breezed through this thread the other day without noticing this, but SWAMI?
BubblesTheLion 02-23-2015, 09:22 AM I like this, a lot.
I consider it an upgrade from Jennings.
I feel bad about what happened to Jennings. Is it worth hoping that Jackson can be as great as so many people think and that Jennings is good with being a number 2 PG?
He won't be happy about it, but he is only signed through next season and he won't be back to 100% that season anyway.
BubblesTheLion 04-05-2015, 10:14 AM This guy, guise, this guy is so dude.
MikeMyers 04-05-2015, 11:52 AM Reggie is the truth. I saw the ending last night. This dude is fast as hell. Just looks like Isiah out there.
Timone 04-08-2015, 08:39 PM SO dude.
Timone 04-08-2015, 08:42 PM Glan loves him some Kelly Olynyk.
Uncle Mxy 04-09-2015, 02:53 AM I don't think it's horrible, but I'm skeptical about it helping us win more games.
I like what I see of him on the court for the most part, but we're 8-15 with him.

Glenn 12-01-2015, 04:02 PM PISTONS' REGGIE JACKSON FINED $25K
The Pistons PG was fined $25K for directing inappropriate language toward a fan during the team's loss to the Thunder on Friday at Oklahoma City's Chesapeake Energy Arena, the NBA announced today.
Vinny 12-01-2015, 06:26 PM For some reason the clip just reminds me of the "And then I fucked your bitch!" part of 2pac Hitemup.
Uncle Mxy 12-03-2015, 08:13 AM Reggie deeply regrets that he was unable to donate his fine to the "Shove It Up Your Ass" charity.
