Las Vegas oddsmaker Bovada today opened betting on who will become the next head football coach at the University of Michigan.

Former Wolverines quarterback and current San Francisco 49ers coach/madman Jim Harbaugh opened as the 2-1 favorite.

Others on the board, with odds and their current or most recent head coaching job:

Les Miles (LSU): 5/2
Butch Jones (Tennessee): 7/2
Mike Gundy (Oklahoma State): 7/2
Greg Schiano (ex-Tampa Bay Buccaneers): 9/2

The job is available because UM on Tuesday fired what Deadspin described as “inept doofus” Brady Hoke after four seasons.

At San Diego, when he was the coordinator, the offense finished top 10 nationally in total yards each of the four seasons, at Stanford the offensive line was one of the nation's best, allowing just 13 sacks combined in his two years coaching the line and with the 49ers in 2012, all five of his offensive line starters played in the Pro Bowl.

Guy I work with went to USC and is a huge college football guy. Talked about the Oline all year. Had 3 rookies starting on the line this year and his only consistent negative comment was that they needed an offseason's worth of college level weight and endurance training as they'd get gassed by the 4th quarter (much like Baylor).

McLain is a USC guy too. What happened to him?

Maybe he could bring the USC commit to Mich. I read he liked Mich early but then ended up with USC. But now, the power of the Baugh hiring his coach could change that.
