See, I'm not really thrilled with this. Sure, there are faults with the NCAA, but it's also the best thing going. College football is much better to watch than NFL and March Madness is the pinnacle of sporting events. A free education, work with world class trainers in what is comparable to an intense internship, travel opportunities, many meals provided by world class nutritionists, and the exposure to employers who will potentially make you a millionaire is enough for the NCAA to provide. Most respected former players will tell you it's sufficient.
The minute players start getting paid or the NCAA loses some of their revenue streams, quality of play will decline and/or ticket prices will rise. Schools will drop other sports program that are considered non-revenue sports and thousands of athletes will lose their scholarships. Selfish players already on the verge of a huge payday will one day destroy the institution of college sports, and if Manziel can be credited for that, along with O'Bannon, I'll stay near the front of the line of people who hate them.
