Higherwarrior 12-28-2011, 10:15 PM he was the best piston on the floor tonight. makes rodney's re-signing even more ridiculous. we really should just hand the kid the keys to the PG position and let him run with it. he's already our best PG too and he's still learning the ins and outs of playing PG in the nba. we have one of the most mismatched rosters in the nba. gonna be a long, UGLY year fellas. Glenn 12-28-2011, 10:31 PM we have one of the most mismatched rosters in the nba. And by "mismatched" you mean "too many bad and overpaid players", right? gonna be a long, UGLY year fellas. Silver lining: It'll be 16 games shorter than it could have been. Tahoe 12-28-2011, 10:53 PM Really liked his game tonight. Too bad the best compliment to him at the 2 is no longer on the roster. I don't blame Rip for not wanting to go through the rebuilding thing, but having Rip curl would have been a nice option for Knight. Joe Asberry 12-29-2011, 07:59 AM i think its fair to say this guy can be a starting PG with the potential to be an allstar some day, just like monroe Knight and Monroe + 2012 stud PF/C = decent core, but we really need another bigman who can defend/rebound/block shots...we are the worst rebounding team in the NBA right now and it makes any pitiful effort to play defense even harder, we got beat easily by the Cavs, it will be hard to find one or two teams that are worse than the Pistons right now...anyway Monroe wants to get paid 2014/15, at that point we only have Prince, Jonas, Knight and Monroe on the payroll, i hope Joe D is long gone by then Tahoe 12-29-2011, 09:13 PM Seemed to me like Gordon holds the ball or hogs the ball too much. Not that Rip didn't, but Ben has no fuckin bidness going against a double team with a lot of time left on the clock. Give the fuckin ball back to Knight. Thats what I was trying to say in #4 I think. Timone 12-29-2011, 09:36 PM Isn't Bobby a lil' too old to coach the pros now? Glenn 01-03-2012, 02:14 PM Matt (Minneapolis) Rubio, Knight, Irving - looks like a really great infusion of point guards in the league again, yes? It's early, but any thoughts on how they project a couple years down the road compared with the Paul, D-Will, Rose, Westbrook elite pool? David Thorpe I don't see any of them reaching Rose's level without a coach like TT, but all 3 have serious talent. Knight, to me, will be the best of the bunch 5 years from now. Glenn 01-03-2012, 03:22 PM ^ just scored a bazillion RTs with that info, lol Glenn 01-03-2012, 03:27 PM I think I just broke twitter. Timone 01-03-2012, 03:43 PM Looks like this Isaiah cat "swagger jacked" you. lospistones 01-03-2012, 03:52 PM You like twitter way too much. Glenn 01-03-2012, 03:55 PM Perhaps. But I do like it, which is what matters most to me. Pharaoh 01-03-2012, 05:47 PM What's the big deal with twitter? People typing random shit to their "followers" who then re-tweet it to their own "followers".... Unless it's seriosuly important (riots breakout in your street, world is ending important) who gives a fuck what you tweet in the first place? It's worse than fucking facebook with people talking about how many "followers" they have. Newsflash: You are NOT a God! You don't have followers! What you have are bored people who for some unknown reason are "interested" in your random thoughts. People invading your mental space to get a small snapshot of your opinion on random topics. Or worse! They are so bored your bullshit "status updates" (I was in Starbucks and saw this really hot girl mmmmmmm) actually mean something to them If I ever get so fucking bored that I have to follow fuckers on twitter to entertain myself someone needs to shoot me! DrRay11 01-03-2012, 06:42 PM There is a rule where you can't have followers unless you're "god?" I'm not sure what's worse, an ego that thinks its twitter followers are an indication of how cool they are or an ego that thinks it is too cool to use twitter. I have used it for keeping up with the sports world and to communicate with friends on a platform that's not as widespread as facebook. Like Glan, I also enjoy it, which is why I use it. Glenn 01-03-2012, 06:45 PM It's basically (if built correctly, like mine) a kick-ass news feed for any topics that interest you. And it's also a worldwide message board that also allows you to interact with interesting (sometimes "famous") people that you normally couldn't. I don't much care for the generalizations that you posted. The only reason I want more followers is so I can add more people of my choice to my feeds (I'm at the 2,000 limit). And the trolling and humor can't be beat. It's awesome. Pharaoh 01-03-2012, 07:40 PM And with one post I trolled both Glan and DrRay... just imagine if I had twitter! For fuck's sake... I don't care who uses twitter and who doesn't. I'm not "too cool" to use it - I just don't have the time nor do I care to use it. I also don't use Facebook as I don't have the time and I don't care to use it. Obviously they both have their uses though. I might end up with a facebook account this year so that I can keep in touch with certain people that I can't actually see and talk to now they've moved away but I have no desire to read a mass of mundane bullshit the vast majority of people post as a "status update"... so I'm really torn on getting an account or just using a phone like in the old days Timone 01-03-2012, 09:21 PM Get a Twitter, P. Seeing you try to write wrestling storylines using only 140 chars would be awesome. Pharaoh 01-03-2012, 10:00 PM I actually think that's how WWE writes their storylines... which is why the majority are not well thought out or contain anything of note. It's hard to care about a product that appears so fake. Obviously the fights are fake but the piss poor writing and the overdone production values makes it seem like a shitty tv show... which takes away from the actual product - which is the wrestling. Anyway, very few storylines seem to occur organically. Each story seems manufactured... there isn't a real reason for 2 guys to fight - WWE just invents one at the time that is convenient that doesn't have anything to do with the charcaters involved or their history. As a writer you have to create a history for the character and then use that to develop the "fights". If there is no history for the character or the audience doesn't know what motivates the character then chances are the audience will not connect with that character. No connection = set up for failure Glenn 01-03-2012, 10:30 PM I wonder if BRANDON KNIGHT would be a good wrestler? Pharaoh 01-03-2012, 10:53 PM LMAO It's an easy sell... Blue chip prospect... you can claim he worships Zeke to give old school diehards a "way in" Give him a facebook page and a twitter account so the new school kids can "get to know him" on a "personal" level Have him put up videos of him playing whatever NBA game is the popular choice on Xbox/PS3 these days and sit down interviews conducted by Joe Dumars himself where Knight comes across as a humble, well spoken young man that respects veterans and loves the game and is "living the dream" In other words he gets a Zach Ryder push - which allows the fans to accept him for who he is... As opposed to giving him the John Cena push that Stuckey got. Stuckey was pushed on to a pedestal he didn't deserve and fans turned on him There is your Piston Main Event for 2012-2013: Knight v Stuckey... Also on that show is Jason Maxiell v Ben Wallace - the younger often lazy beast vs the mentor he refused to listen to or follow Plus we'll have a match up between Austin Daye and Tayshaun Prince. One guy worked hard to get respected and the other seems content to waste all the potential in the world. Behind the scenes though change is coming... a new suit holds all the keys while the Fat Man is on the clock: Fix it or else Fat Man Mmmm someone get me Jeff Katz - I smell a sitcom Timone 01-03-2012, 10:54 PM what the fuck? OK, now how would you book Fool's return? Pharaoh 01-04-2012, 07:39 AM I don't know the circumstances behind his absence... but you'd want to tie his return to whatever caused his disappearance. If it was another fight with Glan then it's easy.... You simply have Fool return halfway through one of Glan's "I told you so" threads (like the Spurs thread lol) and have Fool cut a promo on Glan! Phrases like "abuse of power", "absolute power currupts absolutely" or some such shit... Fool would paint Glan as the villian while also painting himself as the returning hero. It doesn't matter if the abuse of power thing is true. It makes for a good story - though you'd have to point to things Glan has done in the past to prove he's abused his powers... again you need to use the history of the character to create the story. A "corrupt" person in power is easy to paint as a villian and anyone that opposes him is easy to book as a face (witness McMahon v Austin) However for the sake of this exercise and to avoid pissing off my man Glan who I've posted with for more than a decade now: I'd book Fool as the heel but still have Glan abuse his power to get rid of him! It's Vince Russo and the Shades of Grey baby! Fool could easily play the "I worked my arse off for this site for X amount of years" card and if you choose to you can make it seem like Fool is whining about his "suspension": Fool comes into the thread and calls Glan out for his past actions, using the specific details of his absence and listing the instances where Glan abused his power... so far Fool is the returning hero and Glan the heel.... Until this exchange takes place: Fool says = "I've been working my butt of for this site for years and you disrespected me" Glan says = "Plenty of people have worked their arses off for this site over the years. That doesn't give you the right to act like a bitch" Fool says = "But you disrespected me and I won't stand for it" Glan says = "Respect is earned and when you act like a bitch you get treated like a bitch" Fool says = "I'm not a bitch" Glan says = "But you took your ball and went home when things didn't go your way. That's being a bitch. You were suspended for a week... and then I had a change of heart. I missed you. I respect your right to state your opinion. You simply chose not to return! You chose to stay away for all this time." Fool says = "Liar! That's not true!" Glan says = "It's true Fool! You were suspended for a week. Plenty of people here emailed you and tried to find you to bring you back, including me. But the fact is you acted like a spoilt brat! You didn't get your own way and took off. Real men don't do that. Real men stand up for what they believe in. They don't run and hide. One week... not one year! You chose to stay away" Who's the heel now? Easy peasy Japanesey Glenn 01-04-2012, 10:21 AM I didn't even read that and it's about me, lol. Glenn 01-04-2012, 10:22 AM Also whatever it says, I wish it had actually happened. Pharaoh 01-05-2012, 07:30 AM I'm fairly certain 99% of the board doesn't read my posts.... DrRay11 01-05-2012, 08:23 AM Technically, 97%. 571 total members, minus 18 that read your stuff. 553 / 571 = 97% Glenn 01-05-2012, 08:28 AM I read everything except the pretend wrestling scenarios. geerussell 01-05-2012, 10:08 AM I read Pharoah's #GetOffMyLawn anti-twitter rants and re-tweet them. So far I've got over 250,000 followers and a book deal in the works. Pharaoh 01-05-2012, 05:02 PM Peter Griffin is my idol @ #GetOffMyLawn In my defense any wrestling scenarios posted outside the wrestling thread are thanks to ZBeau... but mostly posted cause I like to troll :) Glenn 01-06-2012, 12:38 PM Stuckey and BG (personal) out tonight. B Knight and Austin is the starting backcourt #Pistons Koolaid 01-06-2012, 07:30 PM This is a fun game to watch Uncle Mxy 01-11-2012, 12:53 PM 10 games, 3 FT attempts total He's playing just like Isiah... Glenn 01-11-2012, 02:33 PM Current Rankings 1 Kyrie Irving 2 Ricky Rubio 3 Iman Shumpert 4 Markieff Morris 5 MarShon Brooks 6 Brandon Knight 7 Norris Cole 8 Derrick Williams 9 Jon Leuer 10 Kemba Walker http://www.nba.com/rookie-ladder/#?ls=iref:nbahpt1 Glenn 01-12-2012, 09:21 PM Good looks. 15 pts in the first half. Laxation 01-17-2012, 06:31 PM 7. Brandon Knight Brandon Knight dropped from fourth to seventh in these rankings because he is still developing as an NBA-level decision maker. As of Sunday, Knight was turning the ball over on 22.1 percent of his offensive possessions, according to Synergy Sports. Most of these turnovers have come at the worst possible time. Knight has the ball in transition on 17.1 percent of his offensive possessions, and he has been way too careless on those plays. Knight commits turnovers on 38.7 percent of his transition possessions. He also gives the ball away 13.5 percent of the time in pick-and-roll situations. If Knight can learn to take care of the ball, he should be able to work his way back up the rankings. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7471424/sebastian-pruiti-ricky-rubio-kyrie-irving-rest-season-top-rookies Yuck... Pharaoh 01-17-2012, 07:10 PM He's a rookie PG. Dude is gonna turn it over a fair bit. What's the average turnover rate for a guard? As a rookie is Knight over or under it? FWIW Kobe Bryant averages 3.9 turnovers and I don't think anyone gives a fuck! Lowry averages 3.3 Rose averages 3.2 Stephen Curry was averaging 3.6 Rubio averages 3.3 Irving averages 3.2 Rondo averages 4.1 Deron averages 4.3 Nash averages 3.3 Westbrook averages 3.6 Knight? 3.1 It's not like the kid is making history with the amount of turnovers he commits Higherwarrior 01-20-2012, 05:00 PM not to mention his teammates, for the most part, SUCK. so he's not getting much help out there. he's too smart a kid, too hard a worker, and too good a player not to improve this area; it'll take some time though. he's only 20 i believe. patience.... |
