Koolaid 12-26-2011, 09:33 PM I don't watch college hoops, who do you guys see as the top 3? Any PF/Cs? i don't watch college ball either, But Andre Drummond is big and is supposed to be the number 1 pick. mercury 12-26-2011, 10:45 PM No expert but I'm hearing Drummond, Davis and Leonard... Sullinger is closer to Boozer. Timone 12-27-2011, 07:00 AM Kstat, what do you think of Perry Jones? (worth a shot) DrRay11 12-27-2011, 08:38 AM Is this the OST? Glenn 12-28-2011, 10:05 PM Is this the OST? We gots a possible 105-87 on our hands here. 103-85 with 1 min left. Glenn 12-28-2011, 10:09 PM 105-87 with 17 secs left and B.Knight drops in a running floater. Koolaid 12-28-2011, 10:37 PM Monroe really needs to work on his post defense. Even if he's a PF in the future he's gotta be better than that. Tahoe 12-28-2011, 10:55 PM ^ agree...I've missed quite a bit of both games but Monroe has NOT impressed from what I've seen. Joe Asberry 12-29-2011, 08:11 AM http://www.bomanijones.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/anthony-davis-block.jpg thats what we need Tahoe 12-29-2011, 09:14 PM Love the title of this thread. So true. Pharaoh 12-31-2011, 08:49 AM Assuming we get the #3 pick.... with Davis AND Drummond off the board... who would you pick? DX has the next 5 picks listed as: Barnes, Sullinger, Perry Jones, Robinson, Henson, All except Barnes are projected to be PFs... Who is likely to be the best player in 3 years time? lospistones 01-01-2012, 09:14 PM If it were up to me I'd send our pick and Daye to Sactown for DeMarcus Cousins. Pharaoh 01-01-2012, 09:40 PM Cousins has apparently "demanded" a trade.... How would he handle things in Detroit? The dude has obvious issues I'm all for taking the risk but not if it costs us our 2012 pick. It wouldn't hurt Joe to pick up the phone... lospistones 01-01-2012, 09:54 PM Fuck our 2012 pick. Cousins is the real deal. His skill-set is off the charts and he has the measurables. His standing reach, 9'5", is in the top 5 of current NBA players (McGee, DeAndre Jordan, Haywood are longer). His wingspan is in the top 10 of active players. He's big, he's strong, he's tall (6'9.5" without shoes, legit 6'11" with), and he plays tough. He's shown flashes of greatness against NBA players. Anybody we'd be looking at in the lottery has only shown those flashes against college kids. Drummond, in particular, has owned teams like Holy Cross. I'll take my chances with the 21 year old Cousins. lospistones 01-01-2012, 09:55 PM Also we wouldn't be drafting that high if we were to add Cousins. If his shit was remotely together, we'd be a playoff team in the East. Assuming it's a Daye/Bynum/1st trade: Stuckey/Knight Gordon/Stuckey Prince/Jerebko Cousins/Jerebko Monroe/Cousins That's a helluva team and our draft pick, if kept, would be in the 15+ range. Pharaoh 01-01-2012, 10:06 PM Cousins + Outlaw for Nova and Daye works under the cap - though I'm sure they'd want a future first in the deal. Maybe a conditional 1st round pick... Lotto protected in 2012, top 10 protected in 2013, unprotected in 2014? (I assume 2012 will be a "quality Draft" for bigs, 2013 will be a "quality Draft" for guards/swingmen and 2014 will be craptacular) Not sure if they'd be interested Pharaoh 01-01-2012, 10:08 PM The Kings have guards to burn - not sure they'd want Bynum. Evans, Fredette, Thomas, Thornton... Koolaid 01-02-2012, 08:51 AM Stuckey and Cousins in the same starting lineup? LOL What are the chances that the Pistons would have the lowest team FG% in NBA history? Glenn 01-02-2012, 09:00 AM The Kings have done a pretty nice job of devaluing Cousins by going public with this, it will be interesting to see what they get for him. He needs to go to a team with strong leadership, i.e. not here. Glenn 01-02-2012, 09:43 AM @Vincent Goodwill: The #Pistons kept close tabs on Cousins last year and no, they aren't scared off by his so-called "issues"... Twitter Jason Jones: For those curious, teams that have liked Cousins and figure to call the Kings are Houston and Detroit. Kings say they aren't trading Cousins yargs 01-02-2012, 10:34 AM Without hesitation or remorse, I would trade an unprotected first rounder in 2012 and anyone else they want not named monroe, knight and jerebko for cousins and consider that a steal (although I doubt they would want anyone else and would probably first ask for monroe....and when denied then ask for jerebko to be added to this deal....and I would consider a #1 and jerebko for cousins). Insane or not, cousins still has the potential to be a very good NBA center (and I believe he will eventually prove to be the best player out of his draft class) and is the legit big man this team needs. Now, he certainly has defensive limitations as he's not a great shot-blocker/help-defender but I doubt the pistons will have a better opportunity to find a legit center in the future other than this. Unless the pistons are lucky enough to get the #1 pick and drummond, which won't happen (and I'm not completely sold on drummond as an offensive player in the NBA), there isn't a better center/big man available in the 2012 draft than cousins. In my opinion, if the kings are willing to take our #1 the pistons would jump all over this opportunity. Cousins wanted to be a piston prior to the draft (thanks to a secret two-day jaunt in detroit with joe dumars prior to the draft), let's hope he talks the kings into letting this happen. DrRay11 01-02-2012, 12:47 PM Also we wouldn't be drafting that high if we were to add Cousins. If his shit was remotely together, we'd be a playoff team in the East. Assuming it's a Daye/Bynum/1st trade: Stuckey/Knight Gordon/Stuckey Prince/Jerebko Cousins/Jerebko Monroe/Cousins That's a helluva team and our draft pick, if kept, would be in the 15+ range. lol no lospistones 01-02-2012, 01:54 PM How is it not? It's a young team that would make the playoffs. Say what you will about Stuckey, but he's at least a top 10 player from his draft. He'll unquestionably have a bigger role for the Pistons this year than Oden, Conley, Green, Jianlian, Brewer, B Wright, Thornton, J Wright... Gordon may never be worth his contract, but if he maintains his current level of play he's not a liability at SG. Tayshaun is Tayshaun. Cousins has the potential to be the best player from his draft class and I'd have taken him 1st overall and consider him a better prospect than anybody in 2012. Monroe is a top 3 player from his class, currently. He's a C. He's a double double player. Knight completes a solid three guard rotation as a top rookie with room to grow. Jerebko is in the ideal role as the 7th/8th man combo forward. Villanueva is perpetual disappoint, but he's not the worst 8th man in the league. What's not to like? No *star power*? DrRay11 01-02-2012, 03:11 PM it's hard to imagine one player would have the drastic of an effect on a team this bad. DrRay11 01-02-2012, 07:27 PM firstrowsports is down. How am I supposed to put myself through these couple hours of misery now? Pharaoh 01-03-2012, 06:48 AM I'm all for getting a quality big man like Cousins - just not sure what the Kings would accept. If all it took was our 2012 pick then sure - you do it. Cousins has shown and proved against NBA players, not just college kids. Drummond and Davis? Who knows how they'll fare in the NBA? They could end up like Darko or Olowokandi From what I've read Cousins is merely immature. That's not going to last forever. You tolerate it for a man of his talent though lospistones 01-03-2012, 10:07 AM Yep. Keep in mind that Cousins registered the single highest PER season ever registered in college basketball history at 35.45 (that's like, God-tier. The highest ever in the NBA was 31.84 by Wilt Chamberlain). In his freshman year at Kentucky he put up 15.1 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.8 blocks in just 23 minutes and was largely used in the paint in a fashion reminiscent of how we've used Monroe so far. Glenn 01-03-2012, 10:42 AM Some people saying that Cousins issues are "no big deal" and others (including an anonymous current player) are saying that he could be out of the league in a year, he's a wreck, etc. Pharaoh 01-03-2012, 05:30 PM The article I read said he has issues with team mates and in general he acts like a spolit brat I'll take a guess and say he's not happy playing on a crap team that doesn't use him as option #1, he's not happy the Kings haven't done much of anything to improve their situation while he's been there and the whole spoilt brat bit is him acting out. I seriously doubt the whole situation is because he's a brat. People generally don't act like toddlers for no reason at all. There is likely a generation gap thingy going on with him and Westphal and when you not feeling the love from your Coach players are gonna act up. Look what our boys did here... did anyone think the walkout would occur? Even assuming he feels he's the best player they have and he wants to be used as such what does he have to gain by acting like a child? He's likely to see less playing time and/or likely to be traded. He wants a trade so for him the end likely justifies the means. Let's face it: he's not a superstar that can demand anything so if he wants out of Sacramento the only way he's going to get it is by creating all sorts of problems in their locker room until they get to the point of no return. IMO they won't trade him. They'll fire Westphal first lospistones 01-04-2012, 09:55 AM Ugh I want him on our team. I want a twin towers setup, damnit. Cousins and Monroe would complement each other amazingly. If Monroe were in the high post he could facilitate the offense while Cousins is on the lowblock. If Monroe is under the basket he would be a wonderful cleanup man after Cousins works his faceup game. DO WANT.
