This is a pretty good snapshot of the situation:

So, do you guys think that we'll use any/all of the MLE or just... not.

?

Targets?

If we use the MLE, it would have to be for a big.

There's really not much out there.

Dalembert's too old (30), same for AK47 (30).

Maybe Kris Humphries? He's 26 and might do pretty well next to Monroe.

Not sure he's worth the MLE jack, though.

Yi Jianlian is only 23, but I wouldn't give him the MLE.

I'd almost rather go after one of Utah's many bigs, but I don't know what we have that they'd want in trade.

Ben Gordon for Millsap, Jefferson or Memo (expiring) is a pipe dream, right?

They don't really have any bad contracts that we could take off their hands as sweetener.

Our 2012 pick is likely to be a good lottery pick, so I'd really hesitate to include it.

But it does look like they need a SG.

Maxiell/Bynum 1st for Jefferson or Okafor/Kaman.
Would you do it? Would they?

I don't care about his defense, the guy is one of the three best post scorers in the game.

Maxiell/Bynum 1st for Jefferson or Okafor/Kaman.
Would you do it? Would they?

I don't do that if it's our soon to be 2012 lottery pick. You wouldn't need to do anything likke that to get Okafor, they'd love to unload his deal.

Is it just me or were Jefferson and Okafor 2 names that cam eup a few years ago when we had all our cap space?

Treading water for 2 or 3 years has been a painful fucking experience

Forget Humphries, signing 1 yr deal with Nets.

I remember when we all thought Joe would fix all his fuck ups that off-season... instead he fucked up some more.

And here we are 2-3 years later and we're still waiting for Joe to fix it!

I wonder just how much longer he'll be in the big chair?

Should pass on the MLE for those leftovers... Use the $s under the tax later in a deal.

I'm usually pretty good at predicting these scrap heap signings, so I'll throw out Earl Barron as our next "big" move @ vet's min.

It's either that or keep Voskuhl, lol.

@WojYahooNBA
Sam Dalembert's 2-year deal w/ Houston pays $7M in '11-12, w/ team option for $7M in '12-13, sources say. If option declined, $1.5M buyout.

So there's that.

Dalembert's agent is a moron, apparently.

@tribjazz: Ex-#UtahJazz center Kyrylo Fesenko drawing interest from Heat, Warriors, Pistons, Clippers, source says.

I suggested Fesenko in the Afflalo thread from July 2009 and I still like him.

Okay, here's the guy we need to go after. Throw $3m of our MLE for a couple of years at him, Joe, you fat fuck.

The Grizzlies withdrew a $2 million qualifying offer to reserve center Hamed Haddadi, general manager Chris Wallace confirmed today. Haddadi, a 7-footer who hails from Iran, is now an unrestricted free agent. He can sign with any NBA team without the Grizzlies having a right to match offers. The Grizzlies’ decision was for salary cap reasons as the team tries to avoid becoming a luxury-tax payer in the NBA this season. It is believed that Haddadi will still sign with the Grizzlies for less than $2 million. First, Haddadi must make his way to the United States and be granted a work visa. Memphis Commercial Appeal

Adopting the Eeyore mentality... Ooooh noooo, Joe will neeever make a decent deal... we're doomed forever.

Buy American, Joe.

So what's he waiting on... not enough time to plan the next trade?

Glenn

Sixers are dangling Speights. I'd give up Daye, but we'd prob need a 3rd team, cuz Sixers are stocked with swings.

Glenn

Fesenko signed with GSW for $1m.

Joe's officially asleep.

Pharaoh
12-28-2011, 07:11 AM
Joe's not asleep... I believe the plan is to once again play with the hand he dealt himself and hope for a great Lotto pick

Then we can use the amnesty clause on BG and once again put Tayshaun on the trade block.

The same old same old....

Tayshaun has been on the block for 3 years now... poor bastard should have signed elsewhere for less!

Maybe Joe is hoping the Clippers will somehow make a trade for Tayshaun? He'd get to go "home"... then him and Chauncey can talk about the good ol' days when the Pistons mattered

I think Tay to the Clips was a natural fit, until they signed Caron Butler.

Pharaoh

(A quick look at the ESPN Trade Machine shows it's not up to date... WTF?)

Prince for Mo Williams?

Williams has a much, much shorter contract and with Billups, Paul and Bledsoe he's not needed in LA

He's not needed on the court here but his almost expired contract would be nice

Glenn
12-28-2011, 08:48 AM
Why would the Clippers want both Caron Butler and Tayshaun?

We can't trade Tay until March anyways, IIRC.

Maybe we can con Stern into doing Tay for Kaman (N.O.)?

Pharaoh
12-29-2011, 06:20 AM
Why would LA want both Butler and Prince? Billups + Prince off the bench covers PG, SG and SF. All they'd need would be a couple of quality bigs and their bench would be awesome.

Prince should be on the block for any contract shorter than his plus a pick of some kind....

which means he's unlikely to get traded!

Who wants him for the next 4 years?

Would Tay make the Spurs "undone" if we took Small Ears and a pick? Is that workable?

Could Tay make a big difference to the Lake Show? Or any other almost contenders?

Cause there is no way any team not in contention should want him and his new 4 year deal.
