Another undersized PF with no jump shot. Wasted pick (sigh)

Looks like he has Ben Wallace disease when it comes to FTs.

Wearing uniform #20.

If he makes the team, that is.

He played a game against Jimmer:

Vince Ellis

No qualifying offer for PF Vernon Macklin, thus he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Still on #Pistons summer league team.

Damn.

My sense is that Macklin was deemed too stupid to make it out on the court.

I'm happy Macklin isn't going to be around

The less big men we have the more chance for Drummond to play

Monroe
Maxiell
Prince
Stuckey
Knight

Drummond
Jerebko
Maggette
Daye
Bynum

Big Ben
Middleton
English
Nova
Singler

15 contracts - unless we amnesty Nova or send one of the 2nd rounders overseas... and this is without us using the MLE

You're assuming Big Ben returns.
I wouldn't necessarily assume that.

Without Big Ben Macklin, I only count 2 guys you could sanely play at C out of 15, and our dream is to have them play together.
Macklin _seems_ like a serviceable C in limited minutes.

Assuming Big Ben doesn't return then yes it's a bit foolish to lose Macklin

don't sleep on one of our summer league additions- yancy gates, the center from cincinnati. he got in some trouble with the brawl earlier this season. but he seemed like he matured from that. and from what i saw in the postseason he looks like a guy who could make an nba roster. he's got a legitimate post game and very good size. i'd say he's a poor man's dejaun blair. or somewhere between him and big baby. not the same player, but similar skill set.

he also looks like a bit like the old big ben.

well he's a legit 6-9 and about 280 i think. so they don't have the same physique really. and that's the only real comparison i could possibly see.

because as far as their game on the court goes, gates has a legit post game- a good one, in fact- and he is a decent FT shooter. so there's no comparison there! ;)
