View Full Version : Would you trade Stuckey and Jerebko for the #2 pick? BIG BEN'S FRO 05-27-2011, 10:04 PM Justify. micknugget 05-27-2011, 11:20 PM Justify. I would do this in a second. Stuckey is really a SG and will probably be overpaid now that he is an RFA. We already have enough SGs and his attitude issues were a little alarming. I really like Jerebko but I do not see him ever being more than a "good" player. With the number 2 pick we would have the ability to go out and get a Derrick Wililams or Kanter who would both look really good next to Monroe and have higher ceilings than Jerebko. We could them use the #8 pick on a SF, PG or to trade for a PG or SF. Win-win. mercury 05-27-2011, 11:24 PM Almost voted no... but went with yeah cause i'm not confident Stuckey will want to re-sign. I'm definitely not in luv with Williams overall game (below avg defender for a sf the position he says he has to play).... we need a lock down defender first. I do believe that the 2nd pick could net a nice asset in trade. JJ would be tough to lose... at this point we'd be talking about a S&T since we don't own JJ rights. Joe Asberry 05-28-2011, 07:11 AM Derrick Williams is a tweener, if you could get Irving at 2 asap, but the other guys are not worth it. I expect great things from Jonas next season, he might be better than any of these top 10 rookies from this weak ass draft. Glenn 05-28-2011, 08:19 AM Anybody but Monroe or Jerebko. Hermy 05-28-2011, 08:57 AM What!??!?! Jerebko is at best a 7th man in the league and Stuck is about to be overpaid. Holy shit, I'd give both up for the 10th pick in this lousy draft. Glenn 05-28-2011, 09:05 AM I love Jerebko (even as a 6th man) for his versatility, his hustle and attitude. I know that many doubt his talent, but I'm a believer, and in this case I like known over unknown. I'd include him if we were talking about Irving, of course, but after Irving, this thing seems like a total crap shoot. Another major setback like giving up JJ for a bust could set us back another 5 years on top of the 3+ that we're already going to suck. Hermy 05-28-2011, 09:12 AM Giving up a dude who hustles can set us back 5 years? It shouldn't set us back 5 hours. He's no less a tweener than Williams, sans the incredible scoring talents both around the rim and unreal shooting %s outside. He's nothing but fun in part cause he's white. Glenn 05-28-2011, 09:26 AM Wow, you really don't like Jerebko. Uncle Mxy 05-28-2011, 09:30 AM Would you trade Stuckey and #8 for the #2 pick? IOW, is Jerebko better than what we could draft at #8? Hermy 05-28-2011, 09:37 AM Wow, you really don't like Jerebko. I didn't even have to mention he's a free agent who's coming off a year ending injury that players sometimes never recover from. This is an insane thread. Glenn 05-28-2011, 09:40 AM Would you trade Stuckey and #8 for the #2 pick? IOW, is Jerebko better than what we could draft at #8? I think at 8, we'll be hoping for similar things to what we've already seen from JJ. Hermy 05-28-2011, 09:44 AM Would you trade Stuckey and #8 for the #2 pick? IOW, is Jerebko better than what we could draft at #8? I'll take #8 if for no other reason than the finances. Hermy 05-28-2011, 09:45 AM I think at 8, we'll be hoping for similar things to what we've already seen from JJ. Agreed, sans the injury and money. Glenn 05-28-2011, 10:04 AM And what we know about Jerebko's skills and intangibles more than makes up for that, IMO. Hermy 05-28-2011, 12:50 PM What are his skills? BIG BEN'S FRO 05-28-2011, 06:48 PM I got to agree with Hermy. Seriously the guy has shown me he is worthy of a roster spot, asssuming he retains his form. Thats really it. With a lotto pick, there is at least a chance the guy will be a star. Unlikely, especially at 8, but still a possibility. JJ is decent, but thats all he has proven. I thought this trade would be obvious since it helps our guard glut marginally, helps our cap space significantly, and gives us a chance to add two lotto opportunities to Monroe without gutting the cap space. Give a year a whirl, and then use Rip's expiring deal. Man I thought this woukd be a slam dunk. Vinny 05-29-2011, 12:36 PM Would you trade Stuckey and #8 for the #2 pick? Yes, in a second. IOW, is Jerebko better than what we could draft at #8? He's a know quantity at least. I feel confident that if he's unhampered by injury he could be a 7th man or so on a championship caliber team, and that certainly has a lot of value. mercury 05-29-2011, 07:24 PM JJ will get you the garbage buckets most guys are too lazy for... extra possessions... decent shooting %... good positional D etc.... this in his first year.. why can't he continue to improve? micknugget 05-29-2011, 07:59 PM Jerebko does the dirty work plus i'd really like to see him next to Monroe. |
