Baltimore used to be a great baseball town. I wish them well this year, but not weller than OUR Tigers.

With Baltimore's NFL team being complete shit, they have to have something good in their sports world right?

Ichiro probably would've been on 2nd base.

Orioles have now allowed 4 runs in 4 games. Even with such a small sample, that's pretty damn amazing. Especially when you consider their best pitcher (Matusz) hasn't pitched yet and 3 of the 4 starters have less than one full year of MLB service time.

Timone

Must win today?

Tahoe
04-06-2011, 05:51 PM
Not yet.

I saw the starting lineup earlier and it w___ be a win. <--ends in L L, not n't.

I don't want an infraction from Vinster so I disguised that ^.

We need someone to get hot to carry us through the first part of the season...beside Miggy. Maglio would be nice...and Boesch.

Timone

The Tigers seem to have no problems doing well in the first half.

Tahoe
04-06-2011, 08:01 PM
Yeah, true. But a few years ago it seems like they'd dig a hole that would be hard to overcome. Just stay close bizatches.

might want to find some more ABs for gayburn. him and santiago seem to be the red headed step children of leyland's crew... although i guess RR's defense is partly to blame.

if mags is hurt i'd rather have ryan play till he's healthy. because mags hitting a single every 6th at bat isnt helping the team.

i dont have a vendetta against mags.

ill just go on record and say i am not and never have been on board with taking coke out of the bullpen.

Vinny

I think you've gotta take a chance on it, if only because a solid starter who can go 6 most starts is just a whole lot more valuable than a one inning reliever unless he's just a lights out type. I had the same reaction you did at first but I didn't realize that Coke always had been a starter until he was thrown into the Yanks bullpen out of need. Hope it works out, worst case is he goes back to the bullpen and we're stuck searching for a starter again. That's fair risk I think.

b-diddy

maybe, but i think the best teams always have the best bullpens. right now ours is terrible.

Couldn't we have kept Galaraga in the rotat' and kept Coke in the pen?

Or did we trade Galaraga for someone?

We were really desperate for a lefty in the rotation, Coke is the only one we have.

I think Penny was considered Armando's replacement but that's clearly not working out very well. I was rooting for Armando-Mania like crazy, but truth is outside of that one infamous start....he just wasn't very good. 4.78 ERA, only 71 K's in 135 IP.

Vinny

We'll see how it works out but I can see the some of the logic of how they fit the puzzle together under a limited budget....can't afford a better lefty starter so move Coke over to fill that hole...Schlereth appeared capable of moving up and filling that power lefty role in the bullpen...I think they felt that Galarraga didn't have much upside left so trade him before the shine wears completely off and take a flyer on Penny to fill the 5th slot.

They gave alot of money to Benoit to solidify the bullpen though, maybe too much...

almost afraid to ask, but wheres zoom zoom?

b-diddy
04-08-2011, 09:25 AM
dl, i guess. so is perry. schlereth might be good after some seasoning, but he's not had a good start.

i'd much rather have a platoon as 5th starter, and let coke calm down the pen. it wont be good for verlander's pysche if the pen costs him wins.
