Tressel got caught lying. Good. I bet this puts a dent in their current suspension appeal for those 5 players.

They all had to committ to coming back next year and they could play in the bowl game. They should NEVER have been allowed to play in their bowl game. That was such a joke.

Curtains for the vest.

Or , the NCAA will, once again, lick the Big10's proverbial dick and slap him on the wrist.

I'm just glad that they're finally actually doing something about Tressell here. I just figured he was immune to getting in trouble when the whole Clarett situation went by without any punishment.

Typical. Doesn't exactly say WHICH two games -- does he get to fucking choose????? The Vest: "Ummmm, how about Marshall and E. Michigan, NCAA. That's two, right?" NCAA: "Yep. Sounds good to us"

Glenn
03-08-2011, 09:26 PM
My guess is Buttplug State and Columbus CC.

DennyMcLain
03-09-2011, 12:50 AM
Fuck the NCAA. I called it -- a weak punishment that will have little bearing on O$U's season this year, and a $250,000 fine the boosters will gladly pay in Tressels name for a shot at a national title. If O$U was a Left Coast school, their asscrack would be bleeding right now due to the gargantuan broomstick the NCAA just shoved up it.

WTFchris
03-09-2011, 02:51 PM
This was an OSU suspension not an NCAA one. Why are people dogging the NCAA when they haven't ruled on it? I fully expect them to impose a larger sanction at some point. They ended seasons and careers for players on lesser infractions.

DennyMcLain
03-09-2011, 07:54 PM
If the NCAA shuffles their feet and the Vest gets off, USC will go nuclear and send everything they've got at the Association.

Heard Colin Cowherd say today that he really doesn't think Tressel survives this mess.

It depends on how much the president actually knew before they made their 2 game suspension. If they already knew everything that will end up getting out there, then they'll look pretty stupid to back him and then fire him later. If there is new information they can always point to that as reasons to fire.

I think he keeps his job though. They'll just weather whatever the NCAA says because Tressel is winning for them.

Dick Rod backs Tressel (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2011/03/michigan-rich-rodriguez-support-ohio-state-jim-tressel/1)

"If you run a program at Ohio State or at Michigan or something like that, so much of what you do is public," Rodriguez said. "There's not all this crazy cheating and things like that going on that people think. There are some guys out there that bend the rules a little bit or they get around the rules and try to get a competitive advantage. I don't think that was the case in this at all. There were five guys who sold items who shouldn't have sold it. And they were wrong for doing it. Did that give Ohio State a competitive advantage? I don't think so."

"There's coaches out there that are trying to get a competitive advantage the wrong way, a handful, and they seem to get away with it. And there are other coaches that are really trying as hard as they can, doing everything in good faith, and they seem to get nailed. I think that's the thing that frustrates coaches, like, 'Geez look at what these guys did, and they're winning and they did all that.'

"How do we fix that?"

Glenn

Kudos to Rich Rod for having the stones to stand up for a fellow, respectied coach-that takes courage which is the opposite of the scumbag scandal mongering, libelous stuff coming out of many so-called sports caster in thier rush to judge Tressel and do on both his career and the OSU football program. It's a really far fetched PC stunt to make moral equivalency between a well-meaning coach , protective of his players and school over a relatively trivial "violation' involving the sale of items that the players owned vs. the mercenary semi-pro coaches and cabals of the SEC and USC,etc, who habitually cheat, oay under the table and recruit by any and all means -even crooked.

To pull this into a NCAA convo for a moment...

Honestly, I don't see this as a university issue at the heart of it all. Sure we see top programs fall guilty regularly, but in a chicken/egg-ish debate, I think the issue is that people who are willing to give out these benefits mostly do it for the top programs, and the top athletes of these programs. This in no way makes the athletes any less guilty, but even an alum of a shoddy directional state school just doesn't care to pimp out the football stars as much as a fan (notice I didn't even say alum) of a big time university whose program is very successful. Ultimately it does all fall on the athlete, but the tat parlor owner in the town of Northeastern Ohio Bumfucks obv just doesn't care to give any favors to their QB, but the tat parlor owner in Columbus gets an ego boost from giving favors to top athletes at OSU.

Simple point is that the OSUs and USCs of the world aren't really any worse than any other collegiate athletics program, but the amount of tempters far outweighs the amount for a lesser program.

Tressel, Carrol, and others are very guilty of trying to shove this shit under the rug, so don't get me wrong there.

... JUST SAYIN!
