ranger's third baseman asking for a trade. doesnt want to dh.
he's older than i thought, but i'd like to see the tigers go after him if either of these scenarios are true:
1) they think he can go back to playing second.
2) they think he can play third and let inge play second.
probably not going to happen, but it'd be nice to add a little pop out of the infield.

Texas Rangers infielder Michael Young can block trade to Detroit http://bit.ly/e04uhg

I forgot all about that, and for good reason.

Comments, lol.
"Should Young be open to a trade to Detroit, the Tigers would be a logical destination."
I agree -- I also don't think he would fit quite as well with the Pistons, Red Wings, or Lions.

I am hoping the Rockies get him. They have many suspect hitters at 2B. Wouldn't mind the Tigers getting him either.

I asked Dave Dombrowski today if he would trade for a 2B. He said: "We are set with whom we have."

mike young isnt in the "good place to live" part of his career anymore. when your 35+ and looking for a team that'll let you play in the field, i think you look for that and a team that is in contention. seems like the tigers would be almost ideal.
seems like if your demanding a trade your probably going to have to ease up on the "i wont play there"s.
im shocked people are actually talking about him to the tigers. i thought it was borderline nonsense while i was writing it.

Tigers and Rockies would both fit his needs perfectly. He'd immediately be the starter and have MVP type bats coming up after him.

He's massively overpaid. He makes like Miguel Cabrera money.

passing on him seems to be the prudent move. but you never know with the old man writing the checks.

Don't know about the Tigers, but Rockies are demanding the Rangers eat like half his salary.

I like the guy, and I think any GM would make sure the Rangers pay enough to make him affordable, but is the next 3 years winnable enough to give up one or two top prospects? Andy Oliver is one name being mentioned. Reviews on him are fairly high, but personally, with 3 years of SERIOUS contention, I would pull the trigger. He may not love the idea of playing here right away, but players who are here talk about how well the Tigers treat them. It seems this is a good place to play. And Detroit could do worse at 2B than a guy who won a gold glove at short a couple years back and can hit .300 with 20 dingers. Jackson, Young, Ordonez, Cabrera, Martinez, Guillen (DH), Peralta, Raburn, Inge is a helluva batting order. Plus there is insane versatility there if a guy goes down for extended time or for Tinker Leyland to give his regular days off without severely decreasing the potency of the lineup.
