So are they necessary anymore?

Grumblings have been going on now for a few years. Its just a political speech by whichever party is in office.

I doubt they will ever stop but with the SC's attendance now slipping, I'm wondering if there will be some changes in the decades ahead.

FAPPPOV...who has the Prez by the short hairs? William Daly (to help him get reelected) or the Prez's lefties?

Bachmann sighting!

She still isn't as bad as Nanci or Sheila Jackson Lee. Those 2 have made some serious blunders as well.

Mr President, with all due respect...let the market say where 80% of our energy will come from. If clean energy is available without breaking the bank, peeps will obviously choose it.

Tahoe

^ in other words...stop spending peeps tax money. Let it happen.

I had some lag but wanted to mention Iraq and Afghanistan since the Prez didn't seem think it was important. But now he does mention it.

He basically says...Mission Accomplished.

Overall...I don't think the speech was very good. It didn't give the left what it wanted and didn't give the 'cut spending' crowd what it wanted.

Mr President, with all due respect...let the market say where 80% of our energy will come from. If clean energy is available without breaking the bank, peeps will obviously choose it.

Energy innovation hasn't happened like that since we got past cavemen and the discovery of fire.

Remember, the market's business involves insuring that 100% of our energy comes from the market.

Well, you want Gov't intervention on just about every level and I don't.

Uncle Mxy

Hunh? I want government intervention where it makes sense, where the economies of scale or practicality drive things.

Energy innovation/management has historically been one of those areas.

Honestly, I'd prefer it if it weren't, if I had a Mr. Fusion power plant in my DeLorean that ran safely on banana peels.
But that's not how the world has worked.

Tahoe

I'd give all that back if I can just get a Gov't that doesn't tax and spend.

I forgot to mention that the school BO mentioned in the sotu, was a school that didn't have a teachers union or they all unbelievably got fired or something. Its pretty funny when you read about it. Epic fail by BO.

Uncle Mxy

So you're defending teacher's unions?

Tahoe

The school was turned around cuz it was exempt from Teachers Union rules.
