It's possible they're in the middle of some other kind of move where a rumor of the Pistons being sold would be bad.
Note that there's more going on here than just the Pistons -- the "entertainment" side of PS&E is pretty big, too.
And of course, there's other crap going on in the Platinum empire...

One other thing to consider is that the Davidsons stll own a piece of PS&E and are in the midst of huge IRS troubles.
