Rip and Summers for Mohammed and Carroll and a 2nd rounder. This is similar to the Prince/Maxiell for Kaman/expiring trade, but reversed.
This equates to a playoff push for them.
Augustin/Livingston-----McGrady/Bynum/White
Jackson/Hamilton-------Stuckey/Gordon/Carroll
Wallace/Jackson--------Prince/Daye/Jerebko
Diaw/Thomas-----------Wilcox/Villanueva/Maxiell
Brown/Thomas----------Wallace/Monroe/Mohammed
If they are weak at C we can take on another player and give them Wilcox, but now they have to give us a 1st rounder.

Augustin/Livingston-----McGrady/Bynum/White
Jackson/Hamilton-------Stuckey/Gordon/Carroll
Wallace/Jackson--------Prince/Daye/Jerebko
Diaw/Thomas-----------Villanueva/Maxiell/Najera
Brown/Wilcox-----------Wallace/Monroe/Mohammed
These trades could all happen because we are cutting salary.
lospistones 01-17-2011, 02:16 PM Actually, Charlotte would do best to go:
Augustin/Hamilton/Jackson/Wallace/Brown, but whatevs.
Pharaoh 01-17-2011, 07:36 PM Trade Rip to anyone for any shorter contract or combo of shorter contacts.
He is not part of the future and we don't need him around whining or becoming an issue.
Go with Stuckey/McGrady the rest of the way with BG/Bynum off the bench - it's working better that way already.
lospistones 01-17-2011, 10:03 PM Rip for Eddy Curry sounds good for both teams at this point, too.
*if they lose out on Carmelo and want to make a playoff push with a backsliding roster.
lospistones 01-17-2011, 10:12 PM A bigger trade would be Hamilton/Prince/Summers/White for Curry/Azubuike/Mason/Turiaf.
They'd only have Randolph/Stoudemire/Chandler/Mozgov at the power positions, but whatever. That's a pretty decent lineup.
McGrady/Bynum/Mason
Stuckey/Gordon
Daye/Azubuike/Jerebko
Monroe/Villanueva/Maxiell/Turiaf
Wallace/Wilcox/Curry
WTFchris 01-18-2011, 10:37 AM NY will not give away their cap space. At this point we've seen nothing to indicate Melo will sign any extension and NY has to be the front runners to sign him if no extension happens.
I could see them moving Gallinari and Randolph to us for RIP and future first (this year's pick is too valuable). Then they could try and trade for Melo with Chandler/Curry/firsts. If Denver won't do it they simply sign him this summer.
Glenn 01-19-2011, 10:12 AM Man, I wish Chicago had a few more bad contracts other than Deng's. I think Rip would be perfect there.
Glenn 01-19-2011, 10:27 AM I can only see a few places for Rip if the NJ deal falls apart.
Some ideas...
Washington, if they have really decided to move Blatche
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=46xouu2
Dallas, with Tay
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...radeId=4r9hmgy
Philly, if they want to start over
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=47jdj4u
Maybe Memphis? Thabeet package?
Maybe New Orleans?
Portland?
Utah is a talent fit for Rip, but they don't have the bad contracts.
WTFchris 01-19-2011, 01:34 PM Memphis already has too many guards (mayo not getting PT). NO might be a fit trying to keep Paul.
Your Dallas link isn't working for me.
Glenn 01-19-2011, 02:04 PM Dallas link again
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4r9hmgy
Same deal I posted the other day in the Tayshaun trade thread.
Vinny 01-19-2011, 02:05 PM Man, I wish Chicago had a few more bad contracts other than Deng's. I think Rip would be perfect there.
I've been trying to tell my Chicago friends this since the summer. He'd be perfect on that squad. All I hear is "We don't want your Detroit trash!"
lospistones 01-27-2011, 04:44 PM Rip to Atlanta makes sense. They are borderline contenders (not for a title, that's LAL/SAN or ORL/BOS/MIA) that could make the ECF with the right move.
Crawford for Hamilton works straight up. They don't really have any bad contracts on their team for us to take back, but we could send them Wilcox to be their fourth big using the Childress exception. They won't be under the cap for three years yet and it's obvious Crawford is going elsewhere. We take him back home for a bit.
Teams after:
Bibby/Teague/Jordan Crawford----McGrady/Crawford/Bynum
Hamilton/Johnson/Evans------------Stuckey/Gordon/Crawford
Johnson/Smith/Wilkins--------------Prince/Daye/Jerebko
Smith/Horford/Wilcox---------------Monroe/Villanueva/Jerebko
Horford/Pachulia/Wilcox------------Wallace/Monroe/Maxiell
lospistones 01-27-2011, 04:53 PM Milwaukee and Indiana are also playing poorly as of late.
Milwaukee will be under the cap by 8 million or so next year, but who really wants to play for Milwaukee?
We could send them Hamilton/Wilcox or Maxiell for Michael Redd, an expiring.
McGrady/Bynum/White------------------------Jennings/Dooling/Boykins
Stuckey/Gordon/Redd-------------------------Hamilton/Delfino/Douglas-Roberts
Prince/Daye/Summers------------------------Maggette/Salmons
Monroe/Villanueva/Jerebko-------------------Ilyasova/Mbah a Moute
Wallace/Maxiell or Wilcox---------------------Bogut/Gooden
Something like that? Rip gets reunited with John Hammond?
Glenn 01-27-2011, 04:54 PM I wouldn't mind Crawford at all, but he's been begging the Hawks for an extension since last summer, and it ain't gonna happen.
If they won't pay Crawford, why would they take on Rip's deal?
lospistones 01-27-2011, 05:08 PM Hamilton for Dunleavy, who is expiring, also works. Hamilton is far more durable than Dunleavy.
Glenn 01-27-2011, 05:11 PM I could see that one. Indy's going to do something, and Bird has already said he won't rely on free agents choosing to come there.
We all know who Rip is always compared to, too.
lospistones 01-27-2011, 05:11 PM I wouldn't mind Crawford at all, but he's been begging the Hawks for an extension since last summer, and it ain't gonna happen.
If they won't pay Crawford, why would they take on Rip's deal?
I don't know. I don't really get why they won't pay Crawford. I want him, though. He's a deep threat and I think with Gordon a jumpshooting threat from the perimeter, Stuckey a slashing threat, and Crawford able to score in all sorts of ways with clutch abilities, I want him.
Hell I'd even experiment with Crawford/Gordon/Stuckey at points.
lospistones 01-31-2011, 09:57 PM What about:
Hamilton/Maxiell/2011 first rounder for Joe Johnson?
We save a million in cap space instantly. They now have Pachulia/Hamilton/Smith/Sy/Maxiell expiring in 3 years for a total of 36-37 million and cut off about 70 million owed to Johnson.
We are:
Johnson/McGrady/Bynum
Stuckey/Gordon
Prince/Daye/Jerebko
Monroe/Villanueva
Wallace/Wilcox
lospistones 02-02-2011, 08:03 PM It honestly looks like we're going to need to add some sweetener for teams to take on Hamilton and/or take back a shit contract.

Joe Johnson is not that great. Certainly not worth a lotto pick. He makes 16 mil a year and is 30 years old to start next season. Then we'd just add 5 mil to an already overpaid SG position on this team. How is that going to help us rebuild?
Also, just for P...we should have drafted him instead of White.
Glenn 02-03-2011, 11:32 AM Joe Johnson is not that great.
I love JJ, averaging like 28 ppg over the past few weeks. If we had our shit together and needed a SG, I'd take him, even with that contract.

2001 NBA Draft:
9. Detroit Pistons: Rodney White
10. Boston Celtics: Joe Johnson
Glenn 02-03-2011, 12:35 PM It will all pan out. Rod White's just taking longer to develop.

You'd want 30 mil invested in our SG position (not including Stuckey)? You'd have to move BG (if you can) because you can't have over half your cap into one position like that.
I'd rather use the pick on a PG like Walker (currently projected around there), then use the cap space on a big man (West or Randolph). Then you can retain Stuckey at SG if you want or do a S&T.
Glenn 02-03-2011, 01:35 PM If we had our shit together and needed a SG
Vinny 02-07-2011, 10:56 PM Can we get the Cavs to take Rip or BG for their TPE? I bet Joe would say no unfortunately....

lospistones 02-08-2011, 09:15 AM Rip to Utah:
Rip/Wilcox/McGrady for Kirilenko?
Williams/Watson
Hamilton/Bell/Price
McGrady/Miles
Millsap/Elson/Wilcox
Jefferson/Fesenko
Vinny 02-08-2011, 03:40 PM Can we get the Cavs to take Rip or BG for their TPE? I bet Joe would say no unfortunately....
Anyone on this? It may be one of the only realistic options we have. The Cavs' wings are so bad, they need to do something, and they sure as hell aren't getting Melo or anything with their cap space. Does Joe say no because he's overvaluing our guys? Does he say no because he doesn't want to do that to Rip?
Glenn 02-08-2011, 03:45 PM I be all for it, I think we discussed that option and a few other TPE options before the database crash.

How does that make sense for Cleveland? Why do they want to take on a long term contract when they're clearly in rebuilding mode? Who cares whether they win more games this year?
I would think the Pistons would have to sweeten the deal with this years unprotected first round draft pick, for Cleveland's top 55 protected 2nd rounder, for the Cavs to even consider it.
shags 02-08-2011, 09:34 PM Rip to Utah:
Rip/Wilcox/McGrady for Kirilenko?
Williams/Watson
Hamilton/Bell/Price
McGrady/Miles
Millsap/Elson/Wilcox
Jefferson/Fesenko
No chance Utah does that. They're still not winning the title with that team, which doesn't make the long term money they're taking on make sense.

I think the most realistic Philly trade is Nocioni/Kapono for Hamilton/Summers/Toronto 2nd rounder.

There comes a point where a team has to make desperate moves just to reach the bottom threshold of acceptable NBA talent. They're certainly not going to attract any free agents as is, and they may need to make moves just to lessen the embarrassment of the whole situation. Never underestimate the pride of an owner like Gilbert.
shags 02-08-2011, 09:53 PM Since I dissed every trade, I'll come up with my own.
Detroit trades Rip and Wilcox, receives Mohammed, Haywood, and the Mavs 2011 1st rounder
Dallas trades Haywood and 2011 1st rounder, receives Stephen Jackson and Wilcox
Charlotte trades Jackson, receives Rip
That's the type of trade I think the Pistons will have to accept for Rip. An expiring plus a slightly worse contract (think Haywood, Childress, even Ron Artest).
lospistones 02-10-2011, 09:20 AM No chance Utah does that. They're still not winning the title with that team, which doesn't make the long term money they're taking on make sense.
Probably not on the title.
But would they be better until the summer of 2013, when everybody except Gordon Hayward expires?
WTFchris 02-15-2011, 10:17 AM Orlando is desperate for backup big. Would they do JR for RIP/Wilcox?:

lospistones 02-22-2011, 03:55 AM Rip and Wilcox to Charlotte for Mohammed and Diop.
This is effectively a partial buyout via trade. We save 2 million this year, about 5.5 the next, and about 5 the year after. We go small for big.
McGrady/Bynum
Stuckey/Gordon
Prince/Daye/Jerebko
Monroe/Villanueva/Maxiell
Wallace/Mohammed/Diop
Vinny 02-24-2011, 01:49 AM http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/02/23/cavs-clippers-discussing-trade/
If they're considering B-Diddy, you gotta think the TE is more in play than it seemed.
The Los Angeles Clippers and the Cleveland Cavaliers are in discussions about a trade that would send guard Baron Davis to Cleveland for guard Mo Williams, according to league sources. The deal is not close to being finalized and the teams will continue talking Thursday before the 3 p.m. deadline.
Davis did not dress for Wednesday’s game against New Orleans with what the team said was a sore knee. Williams returned for Cleveland just before the All-Star break after missing 13 games with a hip injury.
Though slumping from the floor of late, Davis has played much better of late for the Clippers after starting the season at odds with coach Vinny Del Negro when he came to camp out of shape.
The Cavaliers would be able to absorb Davis’ $13 million salary by virtue of the large trade exception they received from Miami in the LeBron James sign-and-trade deal.

Joe Asberry 03-30-2011, 08:38 AM It remains to be seen whether the Cavaliers will revisit their attempt to take on Rip Hamilton's contract for a first-round pick around the draft, though multiple sources are skeptical such an arrangement would be palatable to the Pistons given the lockout concerns. Through a combination of games lost to a work stoppage and possible salary rollbacks, Detroit may wind up owing Hamilton far less than the $21.5 million Hamilton is guaranteed over the next two seasons. This is why, perhaps, Hamilton shouldn't have been so averse to accepting a low-percentage buyout from the Cavs; his refusal ultimately killed the trade that would've sent him to Cleveland for a future first-rounder. For the record, the Bulls would've had interest in exploring a Hamilton signing after he was bought out by Cleveland, though the scenario never got to the point of conversations between Chicago, Cleveland, and Hamilton's agent, Leon Rose.
lospistones 04-02-2011, 01:34 AM It looks like the Bulls would be pretty dominant with Rip at SG.
Would you guys do Rip for Brewer/Korver?
Stuckey/Bynum
Gordon/Brewer
Daye/Korver
Villanueva/Jerebko/Maxiell
Monroe/Wallace
Brewer's 26, Korver's 30, whereas Rip is 33. We get younger, get depth at two positions that will surprisingly need bodies (after Tay and McGrady walk), and both players are accustomed to being bench players (at least, they are on the Bulls). Two smaller contracts are easier to trade than one large one, and we receive less salary than we send out.
We'd have three picks in the draft to fill out the roster with. Who knows, maybe we'd even get their first-rounder out of them, which projects to be 29th overall.
They are:
Rose/Watson
Hamilton/Bogans
Deng
Boozer/Gibson
Noah/Asik
Glenn 05-17-2011, 10:31 PM Anybody know when Cleveland's TPE expires?
