Seizure, not weird, but fucked up yes.

I didn't know it was a seizure at the time of that post.

But seizures are weird to me in a totally non-disprespectful type of way.

Nothing wrong with being insensitive, doesn't really make being classless the "in" thing. Whatever though, i can't relate to alot in here lately.

Rodney Stuckey had eight points and 10 assists before leaving Friday's game with some sort of seizure on the Pistons' bench.

A Pistons spokesman said Stuckey's vital signs were normal, he was breathing on his own and was conscious at Cleveland Clinic, where he was taken after the incident. However, given the fact the Pistons are out of the playoff hunt, and Stuckey's seizure was termed "violent" on television, it's possible he could be shut down. Here's hoping to his health, while fantasy owners should probably grab Will Bynum, who would likely fill Stuckey's role

Glenn

Damn you, Vinny.

Yes, he should be shut down for the year. It makes sense from every possible perspective except Kstat/Gutz's.

says it wasn't a seizure.

WTF is up with him then?

It's happened before and it's likely to happen again if they can't work out/fix whatever is going on.

Feel sorry for the kid - can't be the most pleasant thing to go through and when all these docs don't know WTF is wrong ...

that would freak me out

I was wondering if it was a stroke or heart issue. The wife is an RN and was watching the game with me at the time. She agreed that both of those are possible.

Bleh, don't think u needed help getting that conclusion. Also you're the one talking about his trade value, please don't include me in this Stuckey shit. Actually ya know what work your sarcastic agenda. And check with your registered nurse on what happened, it is one step above medical assistant so it'll be almost barely close to expert conclusion. As much as I miss the days when you were typing w/o backwards agendas so long ago, I know they are not coming back. Fair enough I say. I wish Stuckey the best, and I wish you the best in finding some cynical way to adjust to not getting what you want when it comes to Pistons basketball.

WTF is this?

You're taking a shot at Glenn's wife job?

DAMN!

Back in the day I had a reputation for using anything not bolted to the floor if I was in a fight. Pool cues, tables, chairs, bottles, a chick's handbag, your shoe (so I can say you kicked your own ass! Ha!) - if I can grab it and swing it then you were gonna see it.

But in a "battle" on a message board? There's got to be some kind of no go zone and I think trashing some guy's wife's job is probably it.

It's as weak as it gets. On par with Kstat's "your a woman" shit IMO.

Glenn

I actually lol'd. He came with his phony "you guys are so insensitive, but I'm taking the high road" shit and then he forgot what character he was playing and posted that dreck, what a clown!

Anyways, this being a sports site, how this effects the organization from a player value/asset is entirely relevant. And that's something else that can't be said for Gutz.

Just read Billups' comments on this and found it interesting that he mentioned that Stuckey has been planning on coming out to Denver for the playoffs. I wonder how long ago he made those plans.

RegicideGreg
03-06-2010, 09:39 AM
Probably awhile ago based on how they have been playing.

It'll be interesting to hear what happened, he's in stable condition and should be alright. I've heard rumors that they might shut him down for the year.

Glenn
03-06-2010, 09:45 AM
They should shut him down, no question.

I'm glad that "positions are antiquated" because we'll need to figure out how to play Rip, Gordon and Stuckey together long-term, because now we're stuck with all of them.

After watching Hank Gathers remembrances, ESPN showing him dying on the court, basically, this is worrisome. I hope he's alright.

Uncle Mxy

My take is that his level of talent and conditioning do not warrant the minutes he's playing.

I really hope he can get better, on a number of fronts.

When I saw this, I have to admit I got really, really scared. Just two weeks ago I lost a buddy and my former college roommate to a heart-attack while playing pickup ball, and he was only a year older than Rodney. I'm in agreement that we're lacking some sensitivity in this thread right now. I know Rodney is stable and likely fine, but come on, the man could have died. He's the best person on this team, point blank, and to see this happen to such a good guy is absolutely horrible.

Hermy
03-06-2010, 04:07 PM
Rodney isn't going to read this. It's ok.

And Stuckey comes back when the docs say he can come back.

I can't get passed the fact that he's gone through something similar prior to this and underwent all kinds of tests yet docs have no idea what is wrong with him.

Time to shut him down, find a kick ass doc and work out WTF is happening.

It ain't about basketball it's about finding out what the hell is happening to this guy.

If a side effect of shutting him down is possibly getting a better Lotto pick then good for the franchise, but his health should come first.

Some people in another forum are saying sudden onset vertigo.

yeah not even remotely a seizure. He didnt lose awareness/consciousness or have any changes in breathing. A seizure the medical team would've been diving out of the way, not holding him.

Ive dealt with sudden onset vertigo 3 times in my life. 1 second im fine, the next everythings spinning and im throwing up. What stuckey did looked just about like i felt at those points so that was my guess.

Disagree here. There are lots of different kinds of seizures, and not all result in a loss of breathing. A seizure is still very possible and also could be the cause of his problem. Imaging of his heart would have been one the first things they did at Cleveland Clinic. They also would have looked at his carotids, both of which would have been relatively clean in order for them to discharge him. At this point, my guess would have to be an intermittent heart arrythmia, for which he would have to go home with a long term monitor (maybe a few weeks) to try and pick up, a seizure disorder, a brain tumor (also would have been ruled out at CC), or as someone else said, a physiologic problem like dehydration, vertigo, electrolytes, acid/base balance or whatever. Oh yeah and drugs of course.

It's mostly an observation I've had from the games I've seen at the Palace. I noted it last year, with concerns about him being tired:

http://wtfdetroit.com/forums/showthread.php?p=319201&highlight=tired+stuckey#post319201

You can see it in some in the numbers this year. He shoots 38% for the second game of back-to-backs, and 42% otherwise.

Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey: 'I'm good'

By Chris Iott
March 09, 2010, 1:07PM

AUBURN HILLS -- Rodney Stuckey had a big smile on his face as he came out of the locker room Tuesday to meet with media members. He looked just fine.

More importantly, he said he felt great.

“I'm good,” Stuckey said.

The Pistons point guard, who did not participate in practice, said he was not sure when he would return to the court. He said that would depend on what doctors had to say about the tests he's undergone recently.

Details to follow after practice ends.

That is a bullshit statement. My mom and wife are both RN's and they have a hell of a lot more training than medical assistants. You can be a dipshit typist and get a medical assistant job with probably a couple courses of training. RN's have to be licensed every year, have to take ongoing training, and basically do all the shit that doctors feel are beneath them. MA's do the shit like weighing people when you come in and calling people for appointments.

Get your head out of your ass and do a little research before you post on this topic again.

Or you can just slam firefighters next as glorified pyros.
