And if he does nothing, does this indicate that he is a lame duck GM?

I think in the very least they move kwame.

i am worried nothing happens

Doing nothing indicates he's not going to sell low on some talent like we just saw Wash. do.

I voted 'nothing happens' cuz of the change in ownership situation. Not Joe's choice though, imo.

Family history.

He's a distant descendant of the W.H. Hostess family.

I just hope Dumars doesn't end up dying like his old man did.

He'll do nothing and hope that a 2010 Lotto pick can be enough to force someone into taking Richard Hamilton off his hands this coming off-season...

OR

He'll do nothing and hope that a 2010 Lotto and the expiring contract of Tayshaun Prince (plus maybe some other asset or 2) is enough to get him a real big man.

Due to the ownership situation I'll take the former

Hermy

We're using our pick.

WTFchris
02-17-2010, 09:55 AM
Yeah, I think he uses the pick for sure. If he's smart he'll send Kwame for a 1 year deal + pick right now. Then use that pick with Tay to get a big man next year when Tay is expiring.

I have no doubt we'll use the pick on Draft Day.

I have serious doubts if the dude we draft actually plays a game as a Piston.

Joe Asberry
02-18-2010, 03:26 PM
no deal, no hope for the future, Pistons suck, now they start winning some games so the pick will be in the 7-11 range...awesome!

It would be the perfect FU to all the fans who want us to keep losing in hopes of a higher draft pick...I like it a lot.

Glenn

So do we buy out Kwame now to save $300K or so?

you never criticize any move Dumars does...the Gordon signing just got worse, RIP is STILL here...this is an ill assembled team, thats going NOWHERE

Kstat

yep. Joe needs to be fired. terrible GM.

Of course, the fans who are cheering for them to lose in hopes of a draft pick are the shining light....

The perfect scenario would be for the Pistons to catch fire late and grab the 8th seed...best year ever.

You're the one pulling for the team to be swept again this year and get a worse pick.

Glass houses, pal.

@Chris_Iott: #Pistons' Joe Dumars: "At the end of the day, we were not presented with anything we thought was beneficial to us at this point."

Sounds like he got aggressive, doesn't it?

I'm rooting for them to win as many games as they can and let the chips fall where they may at that point. I'm not going to root for them to lose games.

You are pulling for them to get the 8 seed, which is the same thing as pulling for them to lose games. Playoff games.

You want them to be worse. We want them to get better, just not this year.

Pretty large ego to assume what you want is a fact of getting better rather than your opinion. Doing as well as possible is not culture easily reattained(since we lost it middle of last year, we've still have yet to reclaim it). Assuming that we get better or win more solely on getting higher draft picks can be your shtick, but seems like you're gambling on some unpredictable shit as far as our future is concerned in your own right.. Kstat is a douchefuck, and i know you relish sinking as far down to douchefuck level as possible until you become a bigger douchefuck. So in actuality, nevermind and proceed.

You can say that again!

Wait...what?

First: I lol'd at the "Glass houses, pal" comment

Second: I lol'd at the "sounds like he got aggressive" comment

Third: Gutz' rant was awesome and GD's response was too. You 2 should really get a room.

Now, onto things that matter (like my opinion):

We should tank. There is no reason not to.

Some people here view the pick as some college joker that isn't quite as good as other people think.

The "tankers" view the pick as a fucking asset that can bring a proven player, if combined with another asset (like Tayshaun's $10 million expiring contract)

For the life of me I don't know how people can claim that "The Tankers" are actually rooting against the Pistons. Shut the fuck up with that shit. "The Tankers" are passionate fans who just so happen to have a different POV on the Lotto pick so many here don't want.

Glenn
02-19-2010, 07:13 AM
And I'm not even the classic "tanker". I don't want the team/organization to intentionally try to lose, I just want to see it happen organically.

Glenn

To me, the price of not trading Tay/Rip is not only the dead money still on the books, but now we have to play those guys heavy minutes, and hope that they play well, so Joe can try to move them over the summer. Which means, of course, fewer minutes and stunted development for our young players.

WTFchris

Still no idea why we got nothing for Kwame...

Easy. $ for Ms. Davidson. Keep our salary in the bottom quarter. You know, Joe needs "flexability", whatever the fuck that means.

WTFchris
02-19-2010, 01:45 PM
That's a crock of shit. We could have gotten a pick for the price of taking on a 4-5 mil salary for a year. If Karen can't pay that this team has no fucking hope until she sells.

Kstat
02-19-2010, 02:21 PM
so, how many teams got draft picks at the deadline in exchange for taking on a $4 million salary?

WTFchris
02-19-2010, 03:10 PM
Houston got a first rounder and the right to swap another along with a lotto pick from last year just for taking on a small amount of salary.

There were a few more teams looking for an extra 4-5 mil in space too.
