not a bad deal...I thought he deserved less than King Felix (5 yrs/$75m), but I can't complain about $5m since Detroit is a trashy city.

This should be the last guy who gets a long-term extension for at least a couple years (barring any trades).

Next in line would be Scherzer and Porcello sometime in 2012 or 2013...if things go right.

I love the deal but I can't shake the thought that if we could have gone 6 for 90 we should have. I'm the last one who would usually recommend giving so much to a pitcher but if we were willing to guess on his health for 80, we should have gone 90 for the extra year. If he gets hurt, we're fucked anyways but if he stays healthy and productive, an extra year's going to cost way more than 10 mill. Oh well, good to have him in the fold. Let's hope he doesn't go Tim Hudson on our asses.
