Some player names are leaking out (reserves).

Zach Randolph
Derrick Rose
Rondo & Pierce

are the ones that I've seen so far

Glenn
01-28-2010, 01:25 PM
And David Lee apparently didn't make it and Knicks fans are going crazy.

Glenn
01-28-2010, 01:25 PM
Bosh and Joe Johnson in, too

Poor Chauncey.

Kstat
01-28-2010, 01:56 PM
Deron got screwed last year. This year it was Chauncey's turn. As long as Nash and Paul are in the west, one of those guys is going to get shafted.

Glenn
01-28-2010, 02:20 PM
None of the NBA All-Star reserves are from teams with losing records.

Kstat
01-28-2010, 02:26 PM
how it should be.

Of course that's just blind luck, since Chicago had a losing record as of yesterday and just now got back to .500

Glenn
02-01-2010, 03:27 PM
With CP3's injury, Chauncey most likely will back into a roster spot.

I had no idea he was a good three point shooter:

Phoenix Suns (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=pho) center Channing Frye (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2754) has been selected for the All-Star Weekend's 3-point Shootout in Arlington, Texas, according to a report in The Arizona Republic (http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/2010/01/31/20100131spt-suns-channing-frye-three-point-contest.html).Frye would become the first center to compete in the 3-point contest since Seattle's Sam Perkins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=650), a forward-center, in 1997.
Frye, who ranks second in the NBA with 114 3-pointers made, is shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc, which is seventh-best in the league.
Frye joined the Suns as a free agent this season, his fifth in the league, after two seasons with both the New York Knicks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=nyk) and Portland Trail Blazers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=por).

Looking at his stats I now know why. 20 total 3 pointers made in his career before this year.

Glenn
02-01-2010, 04:10 PM
I think I remember Perkins doing that, too. His release was so slow that he had a hard time getting through all of the racks, IIRC.

WTFchris
02-01-2010, 04:37 PM
I think the big men tire less though than a little guy. Dirk seemed to have a quick enough release, I wonder how Fry's is.

Billups in for CP3

Billups in for CP3
If Chauncey gets another All-Star selection after this one, he should make it into the HOF.

Glenn
02-05-2010, 02:47 PM
2010 Three-Point Shootout Field is ... Billups, Pierce, Danilo Gallinari, Stephen Curry, Channing Frye, and reigning champ, Daequan Cook.

Pharaoh
02-06-2010, 08:56 AM
Cook? What the fuck has he done this season?

Uncle Mxy
02-06-2010, 03:01 PM
He won the shootout last year, so he gets the right to defend his "title".

Personally, I'd like to see winners excluded from competing again in some things. I just don't give a fuck if someone wins the skills contest multiple times, for example. Get new blood in.

Zekyl
02-07-2010, 10:57 AM
No Kapono? Wow. That's all he does.

Uncle Mxy

Kapono's playing <15 mpg... I doubt he's on the radar.

No Korver either, that's all he does

I'm not worried about Korver... he's got enough exposure from reruns of That '70s Show and Punk'd.

Chris Kaman picked to replace Brandon Roy in All-Star game.

Billups in 3 point contest:

DALLAS -- All-Stars Paul Pierce (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=662) of the Boston Celtics (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=bos) and Chauncey Billups (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=63) of the Denver Nuggets (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=den) headline the field for the NBA Three-Point Shootout, which the league announced Friday.

Pierce and Billups will be joined by defending champion Daequan Cook (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3196) of Miami, Golden State's Stephen Curry (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3975), Phoenix's Channing Frye (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2754) and New York's Danilo Gallinari (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3428) in the All-Star Weekend event on Feb. 13 at American Airlines Center.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Zek, he was just announced as an all-star moments ago...

Glenn

Spud Webb is going to be a judge for the dunk contest.

GOT THAT, CHRIS!?!

Glenn
02-10-2010, 03:43 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if Iverson does something weird like retire right after the AS game.

Glenn
02-11-2010, 12:13 PM
Dallas crushed by snow, tons of flights cancelled. Last All-Star Weekend with this much snow was 1982, but that was cocaine.

So awesome, I l'dmao.

Didn't he do that last year?

Zekyl
02-11-2010, 06:34 PM
He's not playing due to "personal reasons". Would those include not deserving to be in the All Star game?

Probably not because he still thinks he's the best.

Deron Washington is in the NBDL dunk contest tonight.

Glenn
02-13-2010, 11:16 AM
I didn't watch the rookie/sophmore thing, so I'm just seeing this, lol.

Dejuan Blair, who some would say should've been a Piston, had 22 points and 23 rebounds and was the game's MVP.

I watched a little of the rook/soph game, and all they did was talk about Tyreke Evans, even when JJ had the ball. Is there a bigger waste of time than All-Star weekend?

By the way, Evans doesn't really impress me all that much.

Higherwarrior
02-13-2010, 07:13 PM
actually evans won the MVP not blair. but yes- blair should be a piston. we were stupid to have passed on him.

and, he should've won MVP last night. even evans said he deserved a piece of the MVP last night. that might be why there's some confusion about who really won it.

my pick to win the dunk contest: SHANNON BROWN!!!!

or......gerald wallace. nate ain't winning shit this year. i like derozan a lot but he's more of an 'in-game' dunker. maybe he'll surprise me tonight though.

Glenn
02-13-2010, 08:36 PM
Why did CWebb get so much applause in Dallas?

Glenn
02-13-2010, 08:42 PM
Lmao

Did Brent Barry really just signal "the shocker" after making that shot?

Higherwarrior
02-13-2010, 09:35 PM
would love to see c-bil win the 3 point shootout. i think curry could definitely do it if he gets his rhythm or even gallinari or however the fuck you spell his name. he's a good one.

Shoopydamus.

I think the rookies will pull the upset. Everyone on the rookie
squad minus Blair can run all game. Sophomores have three slow-footed guys who are going to get tons of PT and aren't all that athletic in Lopez, Gasol, and Love.

Higherwarrior
02-14-2010, 12:19 AM
time to scrap the dunk contest. that was ridiculously awful. what was gerald wallace thinking? i actually like the kid but he did dunks that are done 43 bajillion times a season- nothing at all to get excited about.

you enter a dunk contest and THAT is the best you can come up with? not one single dunk worthy of excitement. all night long.

Kstat
02-14-2010, 01:11 AM
one bad dunk contest means scrap the thing forever? Were you born yesterday, or do you just have a memory that lasts 10 minutes?

it was back, then it wasnt, then it was back again, then it wasnt again...

There are good dunk years and bad dunk years. This was a bad dunk year. Dont overreact to it like you're 12 years old.

This was the first truly terrible dunk contest in 8 years. That's not bad.

Laxation

This was a terrible contest...

Fuck lebron james, last year at the end of the dunk contest he was all, 'Yeah Im in it next year!'

pfft

Kstat
02-14-2010, 04:45 AM
To be fair, LeBron shouldn't feel any pressure to compete if every other big name gets a free pass.

Higherwarrior
02-14-2010, 08:14 AM
k-stat: who are you, david stern? calm the fuck down. as if i personally insulted your event or something. lol- take your midol and eat some chocolate you moody little bitch.

FYI i have thought the last few were mostly bad. dwight's phantom dunk didn't do it for me precisely because i'm not 12 years old.

and i think the format is lacking. they need to rethink that and give these guys some incentive to try more stuff.

that was easily the worst dunk contest ever. so yes- there is legitimate concern for the event as a whole. if the best dunkers don't want to ever enter- lebron backed down from a promise to enter- then it will lose it's appeal more and more.

i've been bored and unimpressed with the last several dunk contests, save for a couple of dunks here or there. perhaps part of that is that i view things differently and i'm not amused by all the costumes and crap.

I like Cuban's idea of using the All Star game rosters and offering each player one dunk with the winner getting 1 million dollars to their favorite charity.

Nate's win clinches it. Winners should be prohibited from competing again.

Glenn

Fan voting for things like this is silly when NY or LA is involved. That 51% win for Nate never happens if he plays for the Pacers.

I was kind of down on Chauncey cuz it seemed like he would hold the ball (driblling) at the top of the arc for what seemed like forever. I'd take him holding the ball like that if he came back. :)
