Well that was short lived. TMZ is reporting that there is a late night shakeup taking place at NBC. After the Olympics Jay Leno will be returning to his 11:30 time slot. The question still to be answered is if Jay’s show will be a half hour followed by Conan, or an hour and goodbye Conan. TMZ reports further that both comedians are aware of the changes.

Interestingly Conan has been on thin ice before with NBC. When O’Brien first appeared in 1993 with Late Night with Conan O’Brien, the show appeared with generally unfavorable reviews and dismal ratings. NBC was very close to canceling the show altogether but O’Brien bounced back. Let’s hope he can do the same.

I never could get into Conan O'Brien as a talk show host, or Leno for that matter. These days, Craig Ferguson and George Stroumboulopoulos are more my speed.

I think Conan is more funny, funnier, whatever, than Leno is these days. I just don't think most of the older crowd likes Conan's style/sense of humor. Leno carries a lil more something or other for the older folks.

Conan's show is much better, but his monologue is not that good. He spends too much time dancing and doesn't have much content. He'll also say they have a great show about a dozen times (should only be said once at the end). Leno's new show was garbage. I still like headlines, but otherwise I don't bother with it at all.

Yeah, he's spot on. The comments at the bottom were interesting. One in particular talked about how Leno should fall on the sword and cut his show to a half hour like Jon Stewart and Colbert have on Comedy Central.

I think the problem is that a lot of people over the age over 40, do not get Conan's humor. Most of his fans are under 40 and grew up watching him in college when we were up until 3 am every night and now that we have jobs, we are glad he's on at 11:30 so we can still catch some of the show. Although there is a huge backlash with other hosts, Jay Leno is very popular with 40+ age group and the bottom line is that he makes NBC more money.

He had a late night show here and I believe less than 12 months ago was in the USA and went on Leno and had some talks with TV executives.

He comes home, does his show [starting at 9:30pm every Sunday night] all year long and at the "season finale" (that featured Sam Worthington utter the word "Fuck" live while describing how to ride a creature in Avatar) McManus announced it was the last show ever.

No notice, no pre-show hype - he just announced it. He told everyone to ring people, tweet people, facebook etc and tell everyone cause he's done.

Now, I bring him up simply because he MIGHT be an option for NBC to replace Leno. I don't know what to say about Rove - he's funny but I'm not a fan of his work.
