Pistons insert Chris Wilcox into starting lineup

The Detroit News

Chicago -- Now, Chris Wilcox gets his chance.

In the revolving door that is the Pistons' four-man spot, Wilcox replaces Jason Maxiell, who replaced Jonas Jerebko last week.

Stuck in a 12-game losing streak, coach John Kuester said finding the right mix is crucial.

"When you're in this type of situation, you have try to find the right formula," Kuester said after the Pistons' morning shootaround. "We have to play consistently hard for 48 minutes.

"Chris deserves an opportunity just as any number of these guys. Nobody has set themselves apart (at that position). Chris deserves a chance. He has good athleticism, he can rebound, runs the floor extremely well."

Wilcox had 12 points and six rebounds off the bench Jan. 5 in Dallas, giving Kuester the type of spark he's been searching for.

Said Wilcox: "Hopefully I can bring some energy like coach is looking for. Try to set some screens and be active on defense and get the team into transition. Just continue to play hard."

I assume that this corresponds to the switch to "uptempo" basketball.

who thinks CV will become the Pistons starting PF anytime soon?...the Pistons spend 100 mil $ on 2 bench guys...

Yea CV needs to start. The PF next o Wallace HAS TO BE A SCORER. It makes things easier for everyone. Honestly I'd take any "score first, everything else second" PF to come ff the bench after CV if one was available. Also I appreciate that Kuester isn't promising anyone that this is the final roster...lol

CV is half a complete player... which should equate to the MLE

With his plantar fasciitis, he's more like 20% of a complete player... which should equate to him not playing because he's sucking so bad.

I think CV was a fine choice at the price. But he's injured now and playing him now is seemingly just going to make it worse. Long term, yessir, he should be starting. But not now.

Well let the guy rest.

I wonder if Maxiell is enough to throw out in order to get tim thomas from the mavs. Yea Tim Thomas, he can score points and i gotta aim low at maxiell's value.

You know it's bad when Gutz is coming up with trade ideas.

Always wanted Maxiell traded and always believed that you need a scorer next to Wallace, nothing new here.

I doubt Maxiell has much value in any trade.

That said I do see him having a role here, even if we got a stud C. Max can come in and play 15 minutes as a banger/hustle/energy guy.

He'd be paid very well for that role - but what can we do?

Joe's a fucking idiot

Max got that big contract and isn't hungry anymore.

Sometimes, that shit happens.

I'd love for someone to pay me $20-odd million and see how much I want to sacrifice myself on the court.

His performance through 3 years more-or-less warranted the contract he signed. If Maxiell were to perform as he did in his third year, he wouldn't be on too many people's shit list.

No offense but: here we go again!

What kind of personality testing do the Pistons do on potential Draft picks?

Do our potential picks go see a shrink and have to talk about feelings, their childhood, their motivations, goals and shit?

How come the Detroit Pistons organisation has failed to develop Maxiell into a man that takes his position, pay cheque, responsibilities to his team mates and his responsibilities to the organisation seriously?

Cause no offense (again) but if I was Drafted to play for the Detroit Pistons organisation, if I was deemed worthy enough to wear the Red, White and Blue (legends have worn that uni and won titles in it) and trusted enough to be given the kind of contract Jason Maxiell signed then you better fucking believe I'd do all I can to not only make my boss happy but I'd do everything I can to ensure that every great player who has ever worn that jersey would be proud to call me his team mate.

The fact that most players couldn't care less what uni they wear, or who played for their "current" organisation in the past doesn't really bother me...

Unless Joe Dumars is dumb enough to Draft them.

The Red, White and Blue uniform is special. It's special because of all the players that have worn it before. The current players owe it to the great players that have come before them to treat the uniform and the organisation with the utmost respect.

If you wanna waive guns around the locker room, or drink during half time or act like a fucking moron then sorry pal, this is not the organisation for you.

Cause here - we play basketball. Detroit Basketball. And this organisation is like a train. You can either get on board or you can get the fuck off at the next stop. Either way, you gotta make that choice - and quick.

Cause if you choose to take the easy way out, if you don't consider yourself worthy or if you're not willing to work your ass off to prove you are worthy then please, please don't soil the uniform.

Real fucking champions have worn it and will wear it again.

He went to Cincinnati, that should have been the first hint.

I really don't wanna riff on the drafting of Maxiell and who we coulda/shoulda picked. I've done it enough some of you should be able to tell me who we shoulda/coulda picked.

I will say it's very disappointing to see that he has not really progressed in any way from the day he was Drafted.

So let's see, as an organisation we:

1) struggle to draft quality young players

2) struggle to develop the young players we do draft

With a revolving door at the Coaches office and the tendency to overpay our "success stories" is it any surprise we're in the situation we're in...

Or is it NO surprise many don't wanna tank, despite the Draft being (apparently) very strong?

And how the hell can I be in favour of tanking when I believe what I believe about Joe and his cronies in the scouting department?

Like Phil Collins said "This is the Land of Confusion"

Do we need to change the front page to say "This baby is lucky Not-So-Mad Max got paid"?

No, we need to change the front page to "Pharaoh's Daily Rant" and then have people link to it on every other fan forum on the internets.

i am so bored

In 57 minutes as a starter, Wilcox has 10 rebounds and 10 fouls.
What does he think he is... Jerome James?
