Wife of ex-Cowboys player Jay Novacek found dead

BURLESON - The wife of Jay Novacek, a former Dallas Cowboys tight end, was found dead Monday morning at a Burleson home.

No details have been released on the cause of her death.

A five - Pro Bowler, Novacek played for the Cowboys from 1990 to 1995. From 1985 to 1989, he played for the St Louis Cardinals, which became the Phoenix Cardinals in 1989.

In 2008, Novacek was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

I think they both still consider themselves starters, Lions tend to be the only ones to agree on such things.

I think it would be a mistake for the Lions to sign either of these guys considering what they'd be asking for and the fact that we aren't even close to competing...which leads me to believe we might sign one of these 2.

nah.. this regime isn't about signing late-career guys to long-term deals, from what I gather (thankfully). I would say we're more likely to go after a guy like Jerious Norwood or Chester Taylor (who's no spring chicken, but doesn't have too many miles)...

Lions don't need any of those guys. Westbrook and LT don't provide any skill sets that Smith doesn't already have. Sure, they were a lot better in their prime, but they are past that. Lions need a downhill runner to complement Smith. I honestly haven't seen enough of Norwood to know his style of running. Does he fit that bill?

Norwood would be more of a "home-run" threat that they mentioned than a downhill runner.

Well if that is the case I would sign either to a 1 year deal as insurance. Neither will get a feature role with another team, this might be their best shot at that. I'd also consider Thomas Jones for the same type of role.

Either way I'm not spending a high pick on a RB until I know Smith is done for good. RB's have small shelf lives and I'm not investing a top pick on one to put behind a marginal OL and continue to have no pass rush. I don't know if you suggested that,but people on here have talked about Spiller and other RBs.
