View Full Version : DET/GSW
WTFchris 12-23-2009, 05:00 PM Warriors are going nowhere and won't have cap space until 2011 (which may be none with Curry, Randolph and Wright needing extensions by then)...
Prince (10 mil), Kwame (4), Wilcox (3), Daye (1.8)
Maggs (9 mil), Biedrins (9), Randolph (1.8)
This saves the Warriors some serious money down the road. The price is giving up a very good young big and a decent center. If they could buy out Wilcox (he does have a player option) they could have 10 mil in space and their lotto pick to get a new center and another piece.
Pistons:
PG Stuckey\Bynum
SG RIP\Gordon
SF Maggs\JJ
PF Randolph\CV
C Biedrins\Ben
Pharaoh 12-23-2009, 07:52 PM Would GSW be willing to give up that for Daye? Wouldn't they want some other young talent?
I'd do it, but I like to tinker with the line-up all the time.
BIG BEN'S FRO 12-24-2009, 09:44 AM No question that Golden State would look at this extremely hard. Prince to fit in with their shooters, and more importantly for them to rid themselves of Maggs, who was a horrible signing. How many years left on his deal? I would do that deal, just to give us some power up front in Biedrins and a little more draft flexibility.
WTFchris 12-28-2009, 10:33 AM Maggs has like 4 more years I think. That is why they do this. They give up Randolph, but they'll have cap space in a couple years and still have Wright, Ellis, and Curry (along with Prince and/or Daye if they choose). Risky for them, but it may be their best chance to improve. If they keep their contracts they may be forced to give up Ellis for nothing because they can't increase their payroll.
Joe Asberry 12-28-2009, 11:08 AM i like it a lot
darkobetterthanmelo 12-28-2009, 11:50 AM I absolutely love this deal, but would GS? Does this improve their team in the future? Sure they save money, but Golden State loves Randolph's potential.
Glenn 12-28-2009, 12:35 PM They are openly shopping him.
WTFchris 12-28-2009, 12:44 PM This is where I got the idea that they'd want to cut salary at all:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/091223&sportCat=nba
Pharaoh 12-29-2009, 07:27 AM I understand they wann cut salary - and this really helps.
But giving up "2 quality bigs" for next to nothing is a big step.
I'd probably be comfortable handing them a Lotto protected pick to make it seem more "fair"
Pharaoh 01-03-2010, 06:13 AM Prince (10 mil), Kwame (4), Wilcox (3), Daye (1.8)
Maggs (9 mil), Biedrins (9), Randolph (1.8)
Did you know Prince + Kwame for Biedrins + Maggette works by itself?
IMO they should have to send us a pick simply for taking those 4 year contracts (yes, both are that long)
MoTown 01-03-2010, 10:13 AM I'm not sure I can see why GS does this...
Pharaoh 01-04-2010, 12:54 AM The idea for them is that they get cap relief pretty quickly.
Apparently that's desired by most every team.
But since we've got guys like Rip, BG and Nova I feel we're pretty close to being a contender if we could add the right pieces without giving those 3 away.
Being a contender and being a legit title hope are 2 different things though. I don't see us being a legit title hope for a very long time.
WTFchris 01-05-2010, 06:44 PM Last month, there was a lot of chatter about the Warriors looking to deal, and deal a lot. But beyond cutting Mikki Moore (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=575) today, the Warriors have been quiet on the transaction front.
But there could be a reason for that. According to ESPN's Chad Ford, the Warriors are looking to dump Corey Maggette (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=497)'s albatross of a contract (he's owed around $10 million a year for the next three seasons after this one), in conjunction with someone like an Anthony Randolph (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3455), and that could make it hard to swing a deal.
Ford writes in his chat today (http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/30208) that Randolph is not likely to be dealt "unless the Warriors can get a team to take Maggette's contract too."
We asked ESPN's Ric Bucher for his take:
"Sources say they continue to shop Corey Maggette and are willing to throw in Anthony Randolph to shed Maggette's contract and land a scoring big man. But their issue isn't personnel; too many players simply don't believe in the team's leadership. Maybe that would change if they landed Chris Bosh, but that's what it would take."
Pharaoh 01-06-2010, 02:01 AM They're looking for a scoring big man.
Nova is the only dude we have that fits that bill.
Would we really wanna do that (Nova + ? for Maggette and Randolph)?
I wouldn't.
If it was Prince for Maggette and Randolph? Sure, I'll take the chance.
But I'd rather try to work a 3-way deal and land a big man.
Off the top of my head:
We land Brand and Maggette (gonna be screwed cap-wise with Brand anyway)
Philly would get Randolph, Kwame and some filler with short contracts
GSW would get Prince
We be:
Ben/Brand
Nova/Max
Mags/Jerebko
Rip/BG
Stuckey/Bynum
Or some such shit
Zekyl 01-13-2010, 09:54 PM I'm pretty sure I threw out about 7-8 different deals that brought us Biedrins this summer. I never thought they'd deal Randolph before him.
Pharaoh 01-14-2010, 03:22 AM Randolph is likely done for the season so any thoughts of getting Biedrins or "The Dolph" are probably dead and buried like our fucking season
WTFchris 01-14-2010, 07:55 AM wouldn't it help our chances of getting randolph? maybe they think they can actually compete for a playoff spot.
We can trade our DNP-injury for their DNP-injury
Pharaoh 01-14-2010, 11:59 PM Who would we wanna give up for Randolph now that they'd accept?
