Big game for both teams. If Iowa wins, they pretty much win the BigTen. If MSU wins, The Big Ten race is between MSU, OSU, Iowa and PSU and could hinge on the PSU vs. MSU game at the end of the year.

Iowa is pretty solid. Although, UM did better against them than I thought they would. MSU has been playing a lot better on both sides of the ball, but injuries are very close to being a concern.

Considering this game is in EL, I`ll give MSU the edge and say, MSU 24 Iowa 23.

Iowa would still have OSU left (in Columbus BTW). Even if they beat MSU they can be edged out by OSU for the big ten title based on head to head.

I agree it's huge in the race, but doesn't secure anything. It would set MSU up for a big ten win in their last game with PSU though.

I'd like to know what you have seen from MSU this year that would suggest they would beat Iowa.

I don't think Iowa is as great as their ranking, but they are certainly a better football team than Michigan St.

I think Iowa wins 21-10.

The defensive line is playing much better. It is putting pressure on the QB (which helps the secondary) and has been very effective against the run.

MSU`s running game has solidied itself mainly due to the offensive line having a consistent group due to key players coming back from injury and some players emerging. Add in the fact the game is in EL and I think MSU has a good chance of winning.

I mean come on, UM nearly beat Iowa at Iowa and MSU beat UM`s ass soundly (28 yards rushing on 28 attempts) until the last 5 minutes. If MSU controls Iowa`s running game like it did UM`s, I don`t think Stanzi can carry the load.

I think it's very winnable for MSU at home.

Iowa might be a bit of a fraud, if you ask me.

I saw the Iowa vs Penn State game. They did almost nothing in the first half but eventually PSU's turnovers forced them to win. The defense played well, but Iowa's offense was nothing special.

They looked better against Michigan (dominated Michigan's OL), but they aren't unbeatable. I think MSU can do it as long as their OL wins the battle up front. Since I haven't seen an MSU game besides the Michigan one I don't really have an idea how that will unfold.

I still don't know if MSU is a fraud, though. They beat Michigan (who is still average at best) but have played the two worst teams in the B10 since then. I think we'll learn a lot more about MSU this weekend. A win, and they're back to being the team that can contend for the conference title. A loss, and they still might only be a middle of the road team.

I guess you could say that it all depends if their defense shows up or not.

Well, I do have to get started on another for the EPA. I`ll give you a hint, it has to do with the pyrolysis of plant material.

I didn't realize how incredibly "favorable" MSU's schedule is this year. They play one tough Big 10 game on the road (Wisconsin), they don't play OSU, and they play every other challenging team at home (Michigan, PSU, Iowa). This is their year to win the Big 10, because if they don't, they won't have another opportunity like this for quite a while.

So MSU is playing the #7 team in the country and Vegas scores it a "pick 'em" game.

I think that says a lot about Iowa.

The line has moved quite a bit on this game. I believe Iowa started out a 3 point favorite. A lot like the UM game.

I think it is pretty obvious MSU is now playing like many thought they would this year and without the bonehead losses, would probably be a top 15 team. Also, if not for some very fortuitous turnovers in their favor, Iowa would not be undefeated.

deja vu.

not saying it was coached, or even intentional, but thats a shitty hit to lay. 15 deserved yards.

It was a funny game for UM fans that needed something to laugh at besides UM yesterday.

in hindsight, that not called fumble turned out to be a big call. weird.

wonder why no one said anything.

msu is damn close to 7-1. 4-4 is good too, though.

Obviously, a very disappointing loss. The personal foul call on Ware when he blew up the Iowa receiver was bullshit. It wasn`t dirty, it wasn`t a cheap-shot, it was football. Also, the no call on the fumble was huge. That would have been the game.

Nonetheless, MSU played a very good, physical game against a very good, physical opponent. If MSU continues to play that way the rest of the year, they will be fine.

I don't like the rule, but helmet to helmet contact is an automatic 15. If you watch the replay he clearly hits the receiver with his helmet. And the fumble, didn't Iowa recover it anyway? I didn't see any Spartans signalling the other direction, or MD challenging and getting pissed. Maybe I missed something.

I believe the rule regarding helmet-to-helmet is if the receiver is unprotected. The receiver knew Ware was going to hit him because Stanzi took so long to get the ball to him.

As far as the fumble, I believe an MSU player did land on it and Dantonio called a timeout hoping the refs would take a second look.

I fell asleep at halftime and didn't catch the rest of the game, but it seemed like a pretty good one.

It has taken me a long time to get over this one. I have run the complete spectrum of emotions from anger, hurt, frustration, more anger, disappointment, and suddenly today I just feel better.

Why? Cause I like to make excuses for our players and coaches. We won a lot of close games last year and sometimes it doesn't go your way. We blew the game plain and simple.
