Whom do you blame most for the Tigers missing the playoffs?
And no, "WTFDetroit posters" is not a valid poll response.

View Full Version : The Blame Game: 2009 Tigers Edition Glenn 10-08-2009, 03:52 PM Whom do you blame most for the Tigers missing the playoffs? And no, "WTFDetroit posters" is not a valid poll response. Fool 10-08-2009, 03:53 PM Rosangel. Timone 10-08-2009, 03:58 PM No multiple choice? Glenn 10-08-2009, 04:01 PM No multiple choice? Whom do you blame most for the Tigers missing the playoffs? Fool 10-08-2009, 04:02 PM Like that means anything. Timone 10-08-2009, 04:04 PM Whom do you blame most for the Tigers missing the playoffs? What if someone felt Leyland and the Tigers players deserved an equal amount of most of the blame. Glenn 10-08-2009, 04:05 PM I wanted to say "nobody" because I still believe that this team just wasn't that good, but I can't fathom that we wouldn't have won at least one more game if Leyland didn't send AAA lneups out there every Thursday/Sunday, if he hadn't inexplicably decided to "rest" Mags & Rayburn when they were on fire or if he had picked anyone other than Figaro to start down the stretch. Taken individually, none of those things could be "blamed" for us missing the playoffs, but taken collectively, get the fuck outta here. Glenn 10-08-2009, 04:06 PM What if someone felt Leyland and the Tigers players deserved an equal amount of most of the blame. Then they suck and can start their own poll. Do it! Fool 10-08-2009, 04:07 PM If Motown can't participate in the poll, then it's not a poll. Timone 10-08-2009, 04:08 PM There isn't even an Other option, so I can't vote Stuckey. This is a worse Poll than Roman Polanski. Glenn 10-08-2009, 04:13 PM Maybe I should have just had one poll option that said "everybody". Timone 10-08-2009, 04:14 PM Leverage. Use it. Glenn 10-08-2009, 04:16 PM A Chip Caray option might have pulled some action. Timone 10-08-2009, 04:26 PM A Chip Caray option might have pulled some action. Dude fucked up a lot. WTFchris 10-08-2009, 05:42 PM I can't blame Leyland for the lineups. Suppose he didn't rest someone and they got hurt. They were in first place in the last week, so you can't question his resting all year. If you want to question his moves down the stretch that is fair game I think. Clearly they had enough talent to make it or they wouldn't have even been in the race, so I can't blame Dave. I blame the players. They made severe mental mistakes in the last few games to blow them. They struck out, did bad base running, etc. I put this on them. Tahoe 10-08-2009, 07:25 PM Twins went 17-4 in their last 21. Thats over .800 ball. Tigs went 10-11 and 3-5 vs Twins in the last 21. I don't remember us going 800 over any stretch this year. The Twins are either just flat out better than us or they got hot at the right time. Glenn 10-08-2009, 07:55 PM I give the twins credit for finishing incredibly strong, but they were bad enough to be in the position to have to play that well to catch up, and the fact remains that if the tigers had properly handled their business, that little hot streak by the twins would be meaningless right now. The twins came and got it, that's for sure, but I think leyland overmanaged his way out of the playoffs. If he had simply played his best/hottest players down the stretch, it would be the tigers getting eliminated by the yankees right now instead of the twins. IMO. Timone 10-08-2009, 07:57 PM I give the twins credit for finishing incredibly strong, but they were bad enough to be in the position to have to play that well to catch up, and the fact remains that if the tigers had properly handled their business, that little hot streak by the twins would be meaningless right now. Why couldn't this have been posted by DrRay or Tahoe? Vinny 10-09-2009, 06:42 PM I blame B-Diddy for jinxing us. MoTown 10-09-2009, 07:55 PM So can we blame Grilli? |
