Already you have Notre Dame going to play Army. That's just what I want to see is ND and Yankee Stadium at the same time.

I think the setup for football at Yankee Stadium sucks. The dimensions will force them to place the field with one endzone backed up to the 1B dugout and the other in LF. So, the majority of the fans will be in 1 endzone corner. I would assume the Cameras would have to be set up along the 3B line in some sort of suite along there.

I wonder what MLB fields would be conducive to football games (besides the ones that already have football on them). Probably not many, and most would have an NCAA or NFL stadium within the same city anyway.

The only MLB city without an NFL franchise close by that I could think of is Milwaukee. They do have a roof so they could host a bowl game weather wise.

I read about this a few weeks ago.

Isn't there a big 10 commitment involved? Maybe 3rd choice or 4th choice?

If so, then you know they would love to have UM.

They were in the discussion, but the author said it wouldn't make sense. PSU is the closest college and not that close. Doesn't seem like many Big Ten fans would want to travel there to watch a game.

Totally disagree with that notion.

I think the novelty alone will pack the place, much like the outdoor hockey and basketball games do. Add in a team with a national following like UM, and that's a winner , imo.
There might even be enough UM fans in NYC to have it make sense.

I also think that Yankee fans will show up no matter which teams play.

I have no doubts it would sell out (based on the novelty). That's not the point of those type of games though. Putting 40,000 in a baseball park means nothing when you put 100,000 in a normal game. The reason to do those types of games is to attract a national TV audience. It doesn't matter if 40,000 people want to attend. The goal would be to capture the nation's attention. I'd watch being a Michigan fan but I have a rooting interest.

re: selling out "is not the point"

TV audience is the goal of the networks, not necessarily of the bowl organizers.

The bowl organizers need to sell a title sponsorship and tickets to the game. They do this by getting attractive matchups.

Big Ten #3 vs. Big East #3 would most likely be successful, IMO.

Seriously flawed thinking. There aren't any walmarts in NYC.

Why would the current bowls allow the Big Ten#3 and Big East #3 to play somewhere else?

That, I don't know for sure, it's just what I heard being speculated.

Maybe their binding agreements are about to expire?

I still think you'd sell out Yankee Stadium for the middle of the road Big Ten and Big East teams (like Purdue/Illinois vs Syracuse/Louisville types) too. They wouldn't draw the same interest as the bigger names though.
