Mark Dantonio, Tom Izzo get MSU contract extensions through 2016

Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio, basketball coach Tom Izzo and athletic director Mark Hollis all were given contract extensions through 2016, the school announced Friday.

Dantonio and Izzo received one-year extension; Hollis' was a three-year extension. The contracts were approved by MSU's Board of Trustees.

"Our athletics department, under the effective leadership of Mark Hollis, has demonstrated what I think is a commendable record of reflecting the standards and expectations of the MSU community," MSU president Lou Anna K. Simon said in a statement.

MSU's board also approved contract extensions for women's basketball coach Suzy Merchant through 2014 and hockey coach Rick Comley through 2013.

Tuition money must have cleared the bank.

And I'm sure they're banking on Izzo exercising his opt-out clause to go to the NBA next year, too.

They cashed in on a bunch of people with 2 DEGREES.

Dantonio has a degree in education as well as a Masters.

Izzo graduated from Northern Michigan and has 2 honorary degrees.

Suzy has a degree from Central as well as a Masters from SVSU

Comley earned a bachelors degree from Lake Superior State and a Masters from Northern Michigan.

Hollis, of course, has a degree from MSU.
