RR is supposed to announce the starting QB some time today.

Brandon Minor is questionable.

Please tell me :we: are not getting Pam Ward!

Also, Lou Holtz is a sloppy kisser.

Would anybody here, in all honesty, be all that surprised if UM lost this game?

Regardless, I'm "ALL IN".

But who will win?

I believe the first quarter in this game is so important. If Michigan gets out early, they will be able to exhale. But the longer Western stays in it, the tighter Michigan will be.

If Western wins, Michigan is done.

guys, last night before i fell asleep i had what experts call a 'waking dream'. it involved the offenses of both teams, and they were both racking up points. i've never had a waking dream before, but i have had 2 prophetic conventional dreams (one involved the market going down big the next day--happened, and one involved matt stafford starting and having a 3 td, 2 int game).

i dont want to claim to have any extra sensory perceptions, and follow my dreams at your own risk, but i would bet the over (56) hard.

Glenn

I bet you just jinxed it.

b-diddy

hopefully the pussycake jinx kids can be contained to the tigers. although it wouldnt suprise me if blue had its own contingent... i find the 'jinx' trait is common in three groups: 1) girls, 2) effeminate males, 3) people who follow a team but know virtually nothing beyond that team. sounds like many michigan fans, to me.

the only way to counter this is intense hazing

WOTS is that Dantonio actually declined to have MSU televised today because of Biblical-style modesty. He also was concerned that people might stop believing in the story of David vs. Goliath after witnessing the 88-0 Spartan victory.

I am listening to the game on the radio, so according to Fatstadder and Beckdork, the only reason UM isn`t winning by 100 right now is because WMU is cheating. Those two are atrocious.

Nice that the game ended up on ESPN2 out here. Tate has looked good. very poised as they said. I think Sheridan is done forever at Michigan barring injuries (they may give him some mop up time but that is it). It will be Tate's show with Robinson mixed in here and there (they need to work him in the slot a lot, even if he's a decoy on plays).

b-diddy
09-05-2009, 05:20 PM
the best play was denard's run, but man was tate impressive. he was as fast as i expected, way more composed than i hoped for, but his arm strength was the real surprise, to me. specifically the laser he threw on the inc (reviewed) on the hemingway td drive.

WTFchris
09-05-2009, 05:21 PM
He's thrown very well on the run too. In fact, I can't think of a bad throw. All the bad plays have been from a lack of blocking/good defense.

Timone
09-05-2009, 05:25 PM
I love the way the defense has been playing, too. Very aggressive.

Next week's game, the first test, can't come soon enough. Probably the first truly interesting ND-UM game since 06.

b-diddy
09-05-2009, 05:35 PM
me too.

stevie brown looks like an asset in his new position (vs a huge liability at safety).

and warren looks real good. in the btn season preview, they said michigan has the best secondary in the big ten. which we'll definitly need next week.

b-diddy
09-05-2009, 06:59 PM
another thing i really liked was the hurry up offense. how gassed did WMU's defense look? just imagine in a few years when we have real depth.

i like tate getting most of the plays, but then inserting denard in situationally. the situation being the defense is gasping for air. i dont think denard looked as outstanding as the announcers did. he had the jawdropping play. other than that, he was somewhat allusive, but didnt really keep the defense as honest with his arm as we'll need.

Wilfredo Ledezma
09-05-2009, 07:15 PM
What I liked...

* Forcier's poise
* Defense
* O-Line
* Zoltan

What I didn't like...

* penalties
* Sheridan
* not enough Forcier

Timone
09-05-2009, 07:24 PM
Didn't Hemingway leave with some kind of injury? I'd like to hear more about that, because he looked good out there today. Only 1 game, but Forcier/Hemingway looks like it'll be a very nice combination.

b-diddy
09-05-2009, 07:39 PM
i thought i saw hemingway limp off the field a couple times.

he was great. it was weird to see him so effective, and odoms be such a non factor.

I didn't notice Stonum at all either.

Timone
09-05-2009, 07:43 PM

b-diddy
09-05-2009, 07:44 PM
the real highlight of the game for me actually was the announcers trashing the 'cheating' thing pretty much the whole game. the announcers being part of the media, they ripped it as much as they could without committing the same offense the freep maybe committed.

particularly, they questioned rosenberg's use of anonymous sources. you use anonymous to protect the source, not the source's credibility. ooh boy, i see rosenberg's career headed towards starring in his own blog that no one gives a shit about.

Timone
09-05-2009, 07:49 PM
Next week should be fun.

I didn't watch the ND game, but the mgoblog guys in the live chat that did said there could be plenty of big play opportunities for UM in the game next week. With a QB that has shown he has the ability to actually make some, I think they could have a decent shot.

MoTown
09-05-2009, 11:03 PM
Don't want to get my hopes up yet, but that was fun to watch. Hopefully they can ride that into a bowl game this year. And maybe even be competitive with Ohio State and MSU.

Bullet points from The Big House yesterday.

*Best part of the day was during a stoppage of play, the entire place began to chant, "RICH ROD-RI-GUEZ!" The players on the field began waving their arms, encouraging the crowd to get louder and louder. A definite "goosebump moment", and really showed that this time is united and are completely behind RR.

*The place was noticeably louder. Not sure if it's because of the new boxes keeping the sound in, or people were really united and fired up, or both.

*Most impressive of all performances was UM's defense. Six "3 and outs" in the first half? Constant pressure on the QB and hardly any missed tackles, something that has been a problem for Michigan for as long as I can remember.

*Outstanding QB play by the freshmen. Tate (Taint?) looked like he has been running this offense at the college level for years. I was really impressed with his accuracy, mobility, toughness, and was surprised at his arm strength. And Denard Robinson is REALLY fast. He needs to work on his passing and learning more plays than just "take the snap and run", but gives UM a wrinkle in their offense they've never had before.

*No fumbles lost and a decent kick return game! Wow!

*Good kicking game. Zoltan was great (expected), good deep kickoffs by Bryan Wright, and Olesnavage looked OK on his kicks, though I do think he kicks it a little low.

Now, I do realize this was just a win over Western Michigan, but they are supposed to be a solid MAC school and they never even had a chance. It's going to be an exciting season in Ann Arbor.

I thought Michigan looked much much improved. As if they've been practicing for 12 hours a day or something.

Taint did look great for his first ever game. I thought he'd have more gitters but he outplayed the more experienced WMU qb Hiller.

Surprised they improved this much, next week should be quite the battle.

Robinson looked like shit as a QB. Guy has a decent arm, but didn't have an F-ing clue back there in terms of recognition. They could have put 11 men in the box and shut him down. It's clear all you can do with him is situational plays until he has a clue.
