Meaning he ends up 13-7 with, say, a 3.20 ERA. That sounds more like A than B to me.

Anyhow, I actually hope the team is more likely to sign him beyond this season. He's 34, so I would like to resign him for 3 years, $25 million with a 4ht year team option? Any chance he would take that? Would fans like that deal? He has averaged 30 starts over the past 8 seasons, so there aren't injury concerns. He has also averaged over 180 innings per season during that stretch, which basically means every year for 8 years he has gone out there 30 times and given 6 decent innings. A career ERA of 4.02 is better than his .500 record. He's been 20 games under over the previous 3 years with Seattle - I'm guessing that's about run support.

So I say Dombrowski needs to go out and get Adam Dunn and wrap up Washburn and suddenly Washburn and Jackson can start winning some games thanks to Dunn's bat.

That's the rotation I expect. Maybe Sept 1 another starter comes up for a spot start, and Rick may be left off the playoff roster or considered a long reliever if necessary (if the Tigers make the post-season), but I think matching Porcello against another teams' 5th starter is a favorable matchup for Detroit.

Yeah, Porcello has been interesting.
He struggled in April, he was AMAZING in May, he was average in June, and he's been dreadful in July. Is it the wall? Will he only get worse? Have teams figured him out?

Well, we can certainly hope and expect an off-season will allow him to rest a while and then work on some things next spring. As for this season? I think Knapp and Laird need to do some work to find out how to make him the most effective he can be. Otherwise, you're right, if what he has given the team in July is what can be expected, they might as well rest him and have Willis or Robertson or Bonderman pitch. (or even Miner)

I get the feeling that we'll make another trade to add a bat. Dombrowski can't possibly go half-way adding a horse like Washburn and then not address the offense which has cost us 4-5 games just since the All-Star Break.

Another plus about Washburn is he has playoff experience as he was a top of the rotation guy for the Angels staff in 2002 when they won the WS.
