Yes, but he's capable of Halladay-esque numbers. There were two games, for sure, in June in which JV had the stuff going and you could tell he was pissed to be taken out. I think it was against the Angels and Brewers.

By the way, I would say that over the past 3 months JV has been the best pitcher in baseball. Check out these numbers in that time:

11-3, 3 CG, 2.07 ERA, 117.1 IP, 134 K, 8 HR, 3.9:1 K/BB, 1.09 WHIP

If he cut the walks in half his numbers would look even more dominating. But Leyland has to let him go to 130 pitches until then. Once JV can get those walks reduced, he'll be able to pitch CG without going over 120 pitches. One of his 4 CG's he threw 133 pitches. The other 3 were 105, 103, and 97.

the steals is pretty unforgiveable, imo. we had 3 games where we were extremely agressive on the bases (1, 2, & 3 vs whitesox), and it worked great. i realize it had to do with chicago not being able to throw anyone out, but this team is young and speedy. we need to use that.i remember last sat, i think, granderson stole second only after two guys had gotten out (he led off by getting on), and the announcers even complained about it. baserunners are too few not to be more aggressive with them. and who knows, you might even build a little momentum.

We really caught them on an off night.
